I getting a new laptop today since my old lappy fan blew over the weekend.Old workhorse uses Win7

Will be getting a Win 8, so wondering is it possible to transfer the files over or a clean reinstall is required.

If can copy the files over, what files should I copy?

You don't need to backup files.
Just install D3 on your new laptop + update patches will do.

P/S Win7 notebooks aren't old. laugh.gif

It depends on your line.
I think it won't take long if you're on fiber.
