QUOTE(benQue @ Aug 10 2006, 10:41 AM) guys.. benQue,how to transfer files from mac to windows? let say now im in window. but i cannot find mac's harddisk In my short time using macs, i think it's not possible for windows machines to detect/read HFS (the mac file structure)... i stick my ipod (Mac formatted) into my windows machine and double clickin tat drive will give me a prompt to format my drive... Having said tat, thr's a software tat allows u to read &/or write to HFS... and vice versa... can't recall wat it is tho.. However, if u r using a mac, u can read frm a drive with windows NTFS structure... if the partition is formatted as FAT32, then u can read and write... |

QUOTE(benQue @ Aug 11 2006, 11:12 PM) guys, is it normal for a macbook to stop processing any application after a while? dude... did u use Monolingual to remove anything?... the only time i had the same issue as u was when i used tat software to remove some language files but ended up removing some powerpc architecture files tat is required for some programs to work... i did a reinstallation and everything's fine and dandy... my 3 days old macbook can only open safari & itunes after 3 hours of use iphoto, photo booth, garage band all cannot, the icon just bouncing then not responding. but after i restart it again..the application seems to be fine and able to use again.. is it a prblem with my macbook or i just need a bigger ram? Mayb someone else can help u out on the 3 hr usage thing... hv u tried calling apple malaysia or the tech guys at whr u got ur macbook? Vandetta, On a separate note, I'm now running on 2GB RAM!... Woo Hoo... and u know wat RAM i'm using? A-Data... cost me only 650 for 2GB... i traded in my original RAM which was Hynix or some crap brand like tat for 80 bucks... paid 570 for 2 GB... now i love my macbook even more!... I tried to see if it'll lag and i launched like 6 quicktime movies, itunes, skype, microsoft words, excel, dreamweaver and keynote... it all ran smoothly... i'm gonna try sumore to see if i can hang my machine now.... hahaha... |

QUOTE(feynman @ Aug 14 2006, 12:27 AM) hey feynman... yea... pretty much u can see it that way... there are a couple of things tat u wanna be aware of is that:1. U need to remap some keys in ur keyboard as the delete key in a mac is the backspace in Windows... thr's a nifty little software tat can help u do tat... 2. some drivers (like wat lokgotz) said will not be readily available right now when u install windows, i.e. the isight camera, the touchpad. U will not be able to use the camera BUT u can use the touchpad... juz without the two finger scroll and right click... 3. other concerns is the change of habit with the whole CTRL+C or +V... in the mac environment, u use the APPLE+C or +V instead... 4. the Mac Office works exactly the same like in WIndows EXCEPT tat thr's no Access for Macs... mayb thr's some other programs tat can help u keep a database if u use tat alot... 5. If u get iWork 06, u'll not even wanna use ur Powerpoint anymore... this software suite is juz plain eye candy... or u can always opt for the free Openoffice... (i think thr's a mac version)... 6. If u r a gamer, then hmmm....mayb u wanna hold tat switch... UNLESS u r plannin to get a macbook pro... which is pretty decent frm wat i've heard BUT wit tat kind of money, u can get a PC wit a dual gpu and all kinds of power stuff installed... 7. iLife 06 is juz super... i've never had more fun updating my address book!... hahah... cause brthdays or anniversaries automatically appear in iCal... and in iCal, u get to d/l all kinds of readily made calendars, i.e. the Malaysia public holidays!... which is DAMNED important to me... hehehe... Overall, i've juz converted to the OS X and lemme tell u, i am pretty pleased tat i even got rid of my WIndows installation and use OS X full time... of course i'm no gamer... |

QUOTE(feynman @ Aug 14 2006, 01:16 AM) I don't think I have time to play games.........university, mana ada masa punya? university???.... dude... school's the best man... mana tak ade masa punya? hehehe... I need windows because I'm afraid that some softwares which I may want to use in my final years can only run on windows. So that's the problem. Maple and Matlab anyone? Can we use pirated softwares on a mac? iLife and all don't come cheap. Maple and Matlab tu apa?... some engineering or mathematical software ah?... to solve ur concern, get a macbook... install the bootcamp... use the mapkey.exe in the windows powertool to kautim the delete button... install ur matlab... install ur maple... do ur school work in it... for ur personal life, use OS X.. hehe... iLife comes preinstalled... so no worries abt it being expensive... as for pirated stuff... erm... technically u can install them... BUT legally... no u can't... |

QUOTE(vandetta @ Oct 1 2006, 10:48 AM) I guess I found the solution by myself this morning i had the same scare after i installed the update too... the circle spun for abt 10 mins... and the system restarted... then it was normal boot... geez... this is kinda surprising for me cause i've never imagine apple os to scare ppl like this... neeways... things r up and runnin now... phew... Since the errors displayed is about the drivers or something like that so I guess nothing wrong with the logic board so I try to boot from CD and instead from using Apple + C I manage to boot from CD by just pressing C only. I try to repair permision but still could not boot in. Then I need to do clean installation (thank god there's archieve and install option) then everything is Okay now. Cheers. on a separate note, i'm stil waiting for the logic board too... blardee wankers r so slow with the order!... |

QUOTE(Kent82 @ Oct 18 2006, 02:55 PM) hi guys, i am planning to get a MacBook myself, but one thing holding me from buying is the discolouration issue. anyone facing this problem? if yes, did apple change the top case for you ? thanks heya... thr's been no discoloration issue since it was identified.... even if u do get a discolored machine, i've been told apple will replace it.. |

QUOTE(civic98 @ Dec 14 2006, 11:02 PM) Just wanna know the real life experience of users, benchmarks always show results they are supposed to show.. hey civic98...Well nothing much I can do, stuck with the Macbook, wanna upgrade the RAM to 2GB soon and thats about all I can do, as with any other previous Macbook owners. Looking forward to a Macbook Pro or Mac Pro... Which one you guys reckon? i maxed out the ram in my macbook... n it's fast... the bouncing beach ball hardly hv a chance to show up... i like using visualhub (the same guys tat came out with isquint) and i can encode a dvd with 6 episodes of prison break into 1 disc (excluding burning) close to 1 hr... without loss of quality mind u... :-) go ahead n max out ur ram... it'll make a huge difference... |
