my suggestion if when purchasing mechanical keyboard is understand a few things....
1. keyboard is probably one of the things you should upgrade last. if i had the choice between spending on a graphics card or a keyboard, obviously i'd get the graphics card first.
2. mechanical keyboards aren't cheap. Decent ones range around RM 1100, so don't get stingy when trying to get one. If really want cheap for keyboard, just get a rubberdome keyboard for like Rm20-40 case closed. But just don't expect they are better than mechanical keyboards, they aren't.
3. what makes mechanical keyboards better than rubber dome ones, is because of better typing accuracy, better experience actuating keys. With the appropriate mechanical switches, typing on say Cherry mx red or browns, will make typing over long periods of time less taxing on your fingers. The same can't be said for cherry mx blacks; so not all mechanical switches are equal. They are all tailored for different types of keyboard typists.
4. For beginners to mechanical keyboards, i recommend either cherry mx red or cherry mx brown (i'm using the browns)
5. just because the keyboard has led lightning for keycaps does not necessarily make them good. For example, good quality keycaps tend not to have led lighting. Because they tend to be either double shot keycaps, or dye sublimated. The only exception would be led lighted double shot keycaps like legend keyboard by Deck. A good quality keycap is simply one that doesn't wear and tear the lettering print. Also the lettering print contrast comes out bright and clear. Also one that doesn't shine, or as easily as regular keycaps (e.g. you don't expect the key prints to be gone after only a months worth of typing .... those types are bad), which is due to the type of plastic they use to make the keycaps e.g. pbt, abs or pom.
6. NKRO is an important term a gamer should know for keyboards. 6KRO means, you can only activate 6 key actions simultaneously, max. Most keyboards are 2KRO. So 6KRO by most usage, even gamer standards is pretty acceptable. However if you feel this is not enough, then NKRO which has no limit, is the way to go.
7. a modern keyboard either uses a PS2 or USB port. PS2 seems to be the most reliable, but motherboards are these days not adding them anymore. So USB is the safer route to go with, but USB NKRO implementations sometimes are not that great. So you need to investigate yourself whether the keyboards USB NKRO has any issues or not before considering getting that model with it.
buying tips:
1. have a fix budget of what your willing to pay. I suggest Rm 1100 at minimum
2. decide which mechanical switch you are looking for since this is the most crucial choice for a mechanical keyboard. I recommend either cherry mx red or brown.
3. don't be fooled by good looks. Add that only as your last consideration. A lot of other factors have greater precedent, such as price within your budget, build quality, what mechanical switches it uses, is it NKRO capable ? extra features ?
4. weigh in which type of quality of keycaps you can live with based in key print method and plastic quality was used to make it. Then do a price comparison to see the best fit.
5. there are many different brands, but i suggest starting from Ducky, before comparing with others
Hope that helped

PS: noobandroid don't forget to add me and chuah into the credits on TS
