Hello, guys. Just wandering around this corner to see how HL credit card is like. Seems like it's quite good in the sense that you can achieve up to RM100 cash back if we spend on those specific categories. But there seem to be some downsides to it, such as minimum number of swipes...
Generally, do you think this card is good to go hand-in-hand with OCBC card? Thanks.

compare apple to apple ?

10% on dining
10% on petrol
10% on mobile bill

win d

If direct comparison like this, memang HLB win hands down.

QUOTE(ronnie @ Jul 30 2013, 11:22 PM)
Yes... Now my OCBC Titanium "downgraded" and becomes secondary to this HLB WISE
*
Mmm, thanks for this.

QUOTE(aeiou228 @ Jul 30 2013, 11:47 PM)
Haha.. I thought I recommended WISE card to you some time ago but unfortunately you are not a big fan of HLB ??
A free gadget worth RM1200 every year complimentary from HLB, why not ? thumbup.gif
10 swipes can be achieved easily if your mobile, petrol and grocery expenditures exceeds RM1k per month. Who doesn't  ??biggrin.gif
This is a must have cash back card but approval is pretty stringent.
*
Haha, yes...I think you did, must be you. Back then I did some rough estimation and I forgot why I disliked the card tongue.gif
Maybe now I can reconsider about getting it... Any new promos, haha biggrin.gif

Same here. Wise is now on top in my wallet. Seconded by Amex and then OCBC Ti and then Aeon Watami.  rclxms.gif

After I finally got my OCBC, baru I see that it's not really a top card anymore, lol...ish

Not longer ago there was a promo where new to card customer get to buy ipad mini at rm599. Not sure still valid or not.

Thanks for this. I'll go surf around their site and see if there's anything else too.

Looks like HLB card is a must now sweat.gif

Seems like there are a lot of promos tied to the CC: http://www.hlb.com.my/pfs/cc/ccpromo.jsp?flag=ccpromo
What do you think is the best one to go for, hmm...

Yup, that was not the correct format. I put the description based on the snapshot my head shakehead.gif

So the balance of 44 will not be carried forward for the incoming month rebate correct?
*
If it can be carried forward, it kinda defeats the purpose of the 'max RM100' rule, wouldn't it? And I'm sure a lot of people wouldn't be scrutinizing their expenditures if they can carry their additional cashback forward.

Which promo did you guys sign up for when you apply for HL card? Anything that I should look out for?
I did browse the site and luckily they have good info there, but just want to know if there's anything else out there.

Thanks.

This is crazy...I went to three branches of HL and experienced unsatisfied services.
I've obtained the credit card application form and it's so thick!! May I ask if the normal way of applying is through branches? Is that how you guys did yours?

Do you know whether there's any free gift that they can give for new application? I wanna wait for roadshows but no idea when there would be one.

How thick is your "thick"?

Last week, I went to a HLB branch to apply for Wise CC & the application form only consists of 2 A4 paper with 4 pages of infos & details.

On my application form, top left side, stated it is version 009 (January 2013). How about yours?
*
Mine seems to be the same one as yours, but it's 6 pages of application form and additional 8 pages of infos.
This is thick to me because I didn't have to fill in so many things compared with OCBC, Citibank, SC.

Did you get any gift with your application? =) And have you heard from them on your status yet?

Thanks!

Guys,

Do we need so much supporting documents for salaried employees? I thought 3 months pay slip should be sufficient.

Any one here mind to clarify on it? Thanks.
*
I asked the same. They answered "if you don't submit the docs, we can't guarantee the success rate...the more docs you can give, the better". So, what can I say to that when they throw that at me dry.gif

So you submitted all of this as per website?

->Latest 3 months’ Salary Slips
->Latest EPF Statement with at least 6 months contribution
->Latest Form BE (supported by tax payment receipt)
->Latest 3 months’ Bank Statements or Savings Passbook
->Letter of Employment
Any other forumers mind to elaborate as well? Thanks.
*
No, they asked for 3 months' salary slips, EPF and 3 months' bank statements (if none, they can still try to do without it). But different branch seems to want it more or less, so it depends on them, I guess.

Nope, no gift at all & no new info yet regarding my application.

Do you know your application status?

I haven't submitted my application yet. Going to do so on Monday. Feels so draggy having to go to either one of those sucky branches here sad.gif

You need to have a large Tnb bill in order to opt for utility catergory.
Using wise card to pay Tnb is never convenient. You must use the kiosk in order to split the payment. If you don't split it ie you pay Rm1000 in one single payment, you must fullfill the balance 9 x min rm50 transactions without CB.
*
Thanks for this advice.

Btw, can anyone confirm that for Utilities, it's only limited to Water and Electricity? Initially I thought there are others included, but looking into the details, seems like there's only these two.

I'm still thinking which are the best categories to choose. The only other cashback card I have is OCBC, so thinking about what compliments best.

If you are a family man, petrol n grocery are the top pick. If you are still young and single, you may want to drop grocery for other categories that suit your lifestyle.

As stated clearly, utilities is limited to water n electricity. Better save these for Mbb Amex for 5%+2% return.

Thanks for your feedback. I'm not a family man...still a family girl, lol

I know this has been raised up before, but I'm not sure if most of you who own this card actually applied for the Platinum or Gold? Reason being, the annual fee is pretty high at RM300 and RM160 respectively, so did you guys apply for the lower one or just hope that when 1 year is due, they can waive it for us eventhough so far the response is no?

Appreciate your feedbacks as I'm not sure if it's worth applying if I don't max out RM100 per month (RM1200 a year) and at the end still pay a high annual fee, may not feasible.

I "purposely" apply for Gold level to save on the AF if HLB decides not to waive it.
*
Yeah, I'm thinking of doing the same too if there are not many difference between these two cards. Gold colour is a bit "lou tou" though, hehe...

How about the rest of you guys here, do you do the same too?

Both platinum & gold card same look (navy blue background). You get the wording "Platinum" to differentiate.

Really?? Then I'll get gold if that's the case biggrin.gif

Current promotion apply new HLB combo get Pensonic Eco Thermo Pot doesn't seems as good as previous pensonic fan. Just wondering should i wait till dec to apply? UOB one card started to give pathetic (considering rm15 per month) petrol rebate since august.
*
Yeah, I'm planning to apply for the cards under this promo too. But have to take two cards though.

May I ask those who have applied for HL cards, do you all do it through branches? They don't seem to have booths at the mall...

another idea : Can we apply HLB WISE Gold & HLB WISE Platinum under same name ???
*
I think can, but might as well save the hassle by getting main+supp. I'm planning to take HLB Wise Gold (the card's colour not gonna be gold, right? tongue.gif) and supplementary since it's counted as two cards under this promo and the swipes will be combined, so it's easier to achieve 10 swipes. Btw, has anyone confirmed if the annual fee can be waived?

So hard to decide which categories to pick...Utilities, Groceries, Dining (I eat out moderately), Departmental, Petrol (I think I spend at most 200-ish)
Anyone feels if certain categories can be covered better by other cards that I least likely to need for this card? Generally, I don't spend too much in each categories.

I looked up payment for Maxis, seems so tedious paying online. How about calling up Maxis customer service and pay through them? Will it be counted?

I seriously hate those sales people who keep calling you to have you sign up with them and when you finally did because you wanted to support them (since you wanted the card anyway, might as well help them), they go quiet on you after your cards are approved!

After that the follow-ups will be terrible, they won't answer your calls, smses and leave you wondering when the heck your cards will arrive. So damn annoying when you wanted to be nice to them sometimes!

....based on personal experience on the recent HL card application mad.gif
