I just published an article titled Credit Card Effective Cash Back Rate (click on the lnk below) where I compared Maybankard 2 Cards versus OCBC Titanium MasterCard versus Hong Leong Bank Wise Classic and Platinum Cash Back credit card.

Credit Cards' Maximum Effective Cash Back Rate

With annual fee of RM300 for the plat, really no point getting it unless you going to terminate it before the 1st year anniversary and switch to the classic. And with supp card annual fees too, your effective cash back rate is going to drop further.

Agreed. If can't even spend rm500 a month on mobile, petrol and grocery/departmental, better stay away from this card.

If can't split the RM500 spending to 10 times (minimum RM50 per transaction), stupid to go get this card.

Edited, haha mentioned minimum RM40 doh.gif

Haha !  biggrin.gif I think you need to write  an article to teach some of our friends here on how to split mobile, grocery and petrol credit card charges in your blog liao. tongue.gif

Bro, actually in my article The Best Cash Back Credit Card Combination 2014, I did "teach" others how to meet the requirements of the RM50 x 10 swipes.

To All:

In Example No.2, I mentioned about sacrificial lambs tongue.gif And I even went further to point out how a smoker like me can easily get 4 times X RM50 swipes and also get 10% for our fags laugh.gif The thing is, the HLB WISE card can also be very good for those spending around RM400 on the 2 selected categories where effectively can still get above 5% cash back. For those not spending RM1K/month, the important thing is the bottom line (i.e. >5% cash back) and not about reaching the RM100 monthly cap.

I actually benefit from this card. So it is the best card for me now in Malaysia. Which card can give u 10% rebate?
*
Yes. this card in indeed The Best Cash Back Card for up to RM1K spending, if one can meet the requirements. I even saluted HLB Credit Card Department in my article Hong LEong Bank Visa Infinite - First and Last Look, for introducing the Hong Leong Bank Wise Visa Cash Back credit card which earns the cardholder up to 10% cash back for petrol and dining (plus other categories), and thus helping the Rakyat cope with rising cost of living.

Since many of you are interested to know whether the AF is waiveable or not, here is the "preliminary" good news.
My card anniversary is early Feb, so I called up HLB for AF waiver. I was told by the CS:
"" Yes, I can waive the annual fee for you but I can't see the AF charges in your account yet. Please call us again after you see the AF charges in your statement, then we will be able to waive it for you.""
I reminded the CS again that mine was a WISE VISA card and CS reconfirmed, Yes is waiveable.

I will take this good news with a pinch of salt first before I got my AF waived. Wait for my good news after CNY.

Bro, looks like you getting a CNY Ang Pow from HLB smile.gif

For me you don't need to win every single battle to win the war.
So you don't need to try to go for rebate RM 50 every single month.

I think some people already given you the idea, to pay in advance if your monthly spending is difficult to hit RM 500.
You can try to pay advance RM 50 for your mobile for example, or get some vouchers via purchase for supermarket category for example.
Then the next month you use up your advance payment and come back again the month after it.

The thing is for WISE card you really need to think and plan WISELY, that is why it is called a WISE card.

Hope my idea help you.

Well said, WISE card is for WISE people....

Since last year, too bad my local expenditure on petrol, dining and groceries has reduced substantially since my family are overseas most of the time. I'm accumulating Enrich Miles instead.
