pass airbags indicator n pass seatbelt indicator are part of eu regulations n homogolation where it supposed to be visible to the passenger. when they design the centre cnsole, they not only need to conform with regulations,n also to givn much comfort n safety to the occupants.
it isnt easy to please everyone. the intention is that to make it easy to the pass to unlock the car if the driver is away,
kids are supposed to be seated at rear seat whereby childlock is provide for each rear door.
prtn invest so much on bcm so that they can provide auto lock during driving n auto unlock during collision. whereby many other cars in malaysia already ditch the function due to eu regulation, bcoz they dont have similar function as bcm.
this project started since exora,n sadly many dont appreciate it much compare to what underthe hood.
bcm serve as active safety features that normally on highend car. so,its rare to any segment that prtn enter.
yup, since it isnt visual, only come handy n useful during emergency,it is easier to be ignore.
as in many comments i read in any forum, rarely bcm is being highlighted,n even some really proud their prestige car dont have pass airbags indicator,n cursing prtn put in airbag indicator which they cnfius it as airbag switch or button, without knowing a highend car especially sold in europe has similar indicator. or maybe they never been in one be4.
prtn still left behind, still need to polish their qualities, but they r moving forward, 1st attempt to produce car that can be said highly specced in its segmen n price,it has flaws,it has weakness, but it prove that prtn is willing to provide better car for malaysian, according to global homogolations. that is preve
if prtn isnt willing to improve, just focus on malaysian market or asean market homogolation is just enough, then it will be another big brother of saga. 2 airbags is just enough, 4 speeder is what they need n the list go on.
even many think nap is in favour of prtn, but it also do a lot of damage by restricting prtn from outsourced cheaper n more reliable part, rather than forcing them to use local parts n vendors.
what they trying to protect is the industry itself, vendors n tech transfer n etc, n prtn is one of mechanism to uphold the industry or as catalyst.
but cntinue to comments so they prtn will know their strength n weakness. so that they keep improving themselves. tq
mat79: Tell proton to use this bcm/auto lock feature as advert material. Put there other car makers-some more expensive don't have this feature. If don't tell-people don't know. No one is going to read through the manual to find something special about their car. If other car makers can highlight even tinniest bit of advantage, why proton can't do the same. If you didn't tell me, I did not know about this autolock feature.
Actually Proton is more at the mercy of the vendors-from what you are saying mat79. People say vendors = crony. Cannot dump them for products made elsewhere. Problem is, if substandard materials go into car, car breaks down or faulty-QC problems owner complain, then Proton loose face. Either vendors do better or Proton names and shames vendor-threaten to source components elsewhere or might as well ...... If Proton serious about competing overseas, then that attitude has to filter down to everyone working with Proton.
If not we will not have a situation where the export model has better quality than the local model. That should not be the case if quality is maintained. If not become "kera di hutan disusukan, anak di rumah mati kelaparan".
