The world is drowning in unprecedented Q.E. and China is rolling steadily towards being the largest economy in the world. The ripple effects will have new records being made.
*
Will lead to a ........ bigger crash. You can only borrow so much before you drown in debt... wink.gif Or you can only grow so much before the economies of scale pull you down. Or you can earn so much before competitors comes in....

Why doesn't a plate of chicken rice crash back to a couple of cents ( pre war price ), or a link house in SEA park drop back to < RM30K or PBB share go back to IPO COST?

Printing money is the new world's economy and cannot be allowed to fail. Holding cash is less attractive to me then assets like good companies or properties.

Anyway,  give it some time and we should be able to see how it goes.
*
Things moves in cycle not a perfect straight line... PBB shares has been through more up and down, panic buying and panic selling more than you know.

Property prices has been up and down before in a big swing, from irrational exuberance to financial despair, even in little old Malaysia.

For the chicken rice it's called inflation.

Printing money is new economy and cannot fail... tell that to the Germans in 1920's, Chile in 1973 and recently Brazil in 94, Argentina at 83, poland 90, zimbabwe at 98 and many many more... wink.gif

Good that you are so bullish, I prefer to keep one eye open and be skeptical... tongue.gif

~ One of my first jobs when I first started was as a trader for the KL Commodities Exchange. I also bought during buildup to gulf war , during the 1997 crisis and lately the 2008 sub prime collapse.  Would it be to much for you if I said I have never lost money in equities ? So me is old cock if you will.

*
Well good for you then, keep buying more and more and more. icon_idea.gif

I also bought after the dot com bust and in 2008, but i prefer to keep a contrarian view.. wink.gif

Sell when the market is in euphoria and buy back when they are in despair.

QUOTE(yok70 @ Apr 6 2013, 03:23 AM)
Exactly the point I want to say.

Say you have 1 million for investment. Will you dare to put 1 million all in betting on those super undervalued low PE volatile cheap stocks? Ends up, maybe you will use 50k to play shoot and run short term game. Maybe you are lucky, they one day shoot up 100%, and you gain 50k from it.

Now, if you buy (good) blue chips stocks, put 1 million all in. They steadily and unsurprisingly gain just a small 10%. That will be 100k gain, which is actually double of that 50k gain. And you can sleep better at night holding some (good) blue chips.

Not saying this is a great method, just sharing some thoughts. I mix around steady growth stocks and undervalued stocks in my portfolio.  smile.gif
*
IMHO Not all cheap stocks (as in market cap) with low PE is volatile and dangerous to invest. If it is a speculative play then yes it's risky, but there are lots of them with good fundamentals. In fact there are quite a few which graduated to blue chips over time as well.

There is a difference in 'cheap' on valuation, market cap and price. Some of my 'cheap' (low PE) stocks have prices that rival blue chips. laugh.gif

You can find safe, low PE, fundamentally sound companies with low market caps. Not all blue chips are wonderful companies, but you definitely pay higher price for it. wink.gif My low pE, low market cap holdings let me sleep at night better, as it is less volatile and have good dividend to boot, so it lets me wait out all the ups and downs.

I like these range of stocks, no need to compete against those 'fun' managers. I am proud to say I never held a KLCI index stock before, as before i find their valuation appalling. If later the value shines, then I might buy some. wink.gif

P/S Your post is 3.30 am.. no need to sleep ah brother yok. whistling.gif

QUOTE
In scouring for jewels in Malaysia’s plantations universe, TDM and Chin Teck stood out among the 10 cheapest plantation stocks in terms of EV per planted ha valuation. We think these stocks’ EV valuations should still be, but are not, higher than Indonesia’s. These stocks could rerate on account of their severe under-valuation, even if the plantation sector stays unexciting.

Finding ‘jewels’ among the ruins. We generated the EV per planted ha of plantation companies listed in Malaysia and found the range to be wide - from MYR19k to MYR215k. For some of these companies, we think their cheap valuation is unjustified as they are even cheaper than Indonesian estates, which are changing hands at USD12k–USD15k per ha.

TDM and Chin Teck stand out. We looked for companies with: i) cheap EV per planted ha, ii) sufficiently sizeable planted areas, and iii) best profitability among the 10 cheapest stocks in terms of EV per ha. These criteria threw up TDM and Chin Teck, which have EV per planted ha of MYR20.2k and MYR27.5k respectively. TDM is obviously the cheaper of the two, with a stronger profit of MYR3,600 EBIT per mature ha. TDM is also bigger, possessing 40,942 ha of planted area.

Stocks to re-rate on under-valuation. While the plantation sector may still face poor forward earnings visibility, we believe these stocks could still re-rate due to severe under-valuation. In comparison, TWS Plant, which is to be privatised at MYR5.00 per share, has an EV per planted ha of MYR40.5k, which is twice as high as TDM’s although its EBIT per planted ha - at MYR3,170 - is lower than TDM’s MYR3,600 and on par with Chin Teck’s MYR3,032. TDM may trade up to MYR7.50 if it were to reflect TWS Plant’s privatization price.

Briefly on TDM. TDM, with a market capitalization of MYR980m, is a professionally-run Terengganu state-owned plantation company. It has a total planted area of 40,942 ha, of which 32,458 ha and 8,484 ha are in Malaysia and West Kalimantan respectively. Of its overall planted areas, 48% are in prime and 9% are young, 22% immature and 17% are with old trees. Last year, TDM produced 558.6k tonnes of FFB, at a FFB yield of 18.27 tonnes. The group also owns four hospitals with a combined total of 204 beds. Its balance sheet is strong, with a net cash of MYR182.1m, or 74 sen per share.
