My friend had a same problem, slow torrent, everything slow. What I did was, take the DIR-615 unifi router, flash it with openwrt, configure the VLAN, et voilĂ , I'm getting full speed for everything. But once i connect the thomson router to dir-615 for VOIP, the speed drop. Same case when using the thomson router only, when i disable VOIP in the thomson router, I can get full speed for everything
*
are u saying that the "full speed for everything" include torrent ?
if yes, then torrent cap at router level, not at maxis site ?

i read somewhere few days ago that there was undersea cable cut off. affecting SEA users. may be something to do with that.
*
QUOTE(liciece @ Jan 12 2015, 12:35 PM)
The cable was disrupted days ago,but the connection issue should be since yesterday. I think there's other problem at Maxis side.
*
QUOTE(Renascence @ Jan 12 2015, 01:42 PM)
I agree, as Unifi users doesn't seem to be affected by this issue. Unifi are also part of the consortium, and even so, why are local websites affected too?
*
Believe not bcoz of undersea cable coz my parents 1mb streamyx loading as usual... no slow loading at all...

QUOTE(Renascence @ Jan 12 2015, 02:16 PM)
Even with a speedtest, I get my full 10Mbps download speed, and I have a Ping monitoring software running. I don't have terrible packet losses, or degraded speed, it's just *painful* to browse, forget streaming.
*
Look like the use diff route for speedtest coz all telco knew that people always use speedtest to check their speed nowadays...

And for the Maxis fibre internet experience, I'm disappointed

I suspect the slowdown yesterday night is probably due to Maxis speed throttling during night peak hours, but comeon throttling to less than 1mb..... That is too much
And somemore, I come home from work and would like to enjoy the time from then until I sleep, it is an absolute disaster speed throttled during that time

I woke up about 7am and found internet speed restored. Made some speedtest and all results about 9+mb up, 10+mb down
*
Looks like this maxis is for people who works on syif... Works from 8pm - 6am...
Go back 7am & enjoy unlimited speed while other people go to work...
I dun understand why SKMM kenot do anything about this...

My internet connection has suddenly disconnected twice today.

When I went to see the router, all the lights are working. After switch off and switch on again, it is working again.

It happened once about 28 Jan, 7.30pm and 29 Jan, 1.30am. Anyone facing th same issue?

Any expert here? Why all lights on the router working but no internet connection? Scary!

Router model ?

Mind one I waited for about 5 minutes but nothing happened. I first thought it was my wifi issue. Then I used wired, still the same. And I proceed to reboot.

After so many years launching, Maxis FTTH is still not ready for big time. Yet they dared to advertise, looking for more victims!

This is expected until u chg that thomson router to any custom router...

After testing again yesterday, the internet experience at night is stable and speed consistent quite high
Just websites load a bit slow perhaps due to some throttling or heavy load on Maxis side
But that's still acceptable for now

Oh, this. I thought he had a way to totally bypass the Thomson/Technicolor box...
*
i think u've misunderstanding here... thomson act as internet & voip for ur fibre...
u prob now is internet not voip... so we redirect ur internet to more stable router & leave voip handling by thomson...

UNLESS... u've a prob with voip in thomson too (eg : intermittent disconnect call or kenot hear) then i unable to advise...

AND ALSO UNLESS... u dun wan to use voip at all, then after connect to ur custom router, throw ur thomson into the dustbin...
