Recently maxis technician came to my house, forcing me to change to the new, black maxis router.

After about 3 weeks, a very weird wifi issue surfaced.

I've no problem with Lan connection, only the wifi.

The wifi signal is good, and when using speedtest on wifi via ookla on my ipad, it shown good ping, download and upload speed.

However, I am not able to browse the internet etc.

I tested everything from changing channel, on and off the modem and router, still not able to solve it.

Then I off the the modem and router for a few hours, and then it's working fine.

I am not sure if the issue will be repeated itself, as now the internet is only up about one hour.

Fyi, there is no such issue with my old thompson square white router for many years.

Anyone with the new maxis router having this issue? Can you please share your experience.

I am worry this weird wifi issue would hit me during raya period and I would be without wifi for a looong period!

Your help appreciated.

Anyone using ipad to access the maxis ftth wifi?

I change to maxis Technicolor TG784n v3 router for about a month. The download speed and upload speed is great, 9Mbps(my package 10 Mbps).

But suddenly the download speed fluctuate to 3Mbps, but the upload speed still 9Mbps.

I suspect this is due to the firmware upgrade(10.2.8.3(CN)) done by them on the same day this happened.

Anyone using ipad to access maxis ftth wifi with Technicolor TG784n v3, firmware version 10.2.8.3(CN)?

Could you please let me know your speedtest results?

Note: wanted to test my ipad on the maxis ftth users, but not knowing anyone(any good hearted willing to let me test?). Anyone using maxis ftth staying in bdr sg.long, balakong and nearby area will do.

wanted to give an update on my new testing:-

if i wanna blame my maxis ftth wifi... it works well with iphone 4s and iphone 5s, android and windows 7 laptop

if i wanna blame my ipad... it works on unifi, also blackberry mobile data hotspot

i discover one more thing, i test my maxis ftth wifi with balckberry, it only get 5Mbps for download and 7Mbps for upload speed

based on all the test, i seriously think i need to have two more test:-
1)Get another ipad2 and other ipad version to test with my maxis ftth wifi(but i got no other ipad to test... sigh!)

2)Take my ipad to test on other maxis ftth connection with Technicolor TG784n v3, firmware version 10.2.8.3(CN)(but do not know anyone using maxis ftth... sigh!)

what do you guys suggest? tiring indeed!

If want terminate unifi how much penalty charged if still under contract? Want subscribe maxis+astro iptv.
*
i won't change my astro to iptv, not in a million years i guess... malaysia internet speed and connection is downright unreliable

what if something wrong with your internet connection? no internet, no tv to watch!

if the disruption happened during weekends, you've to wait until tuesday before someone come and fix it for you... can't live without internet and tv at the same time!

I think its okay if just streaming locally. My wife been using Astro on the go everyday and not suffering from any speed issue, even though I suffer some slowdown due to the broken submarine cable.
*
What I meant is if there is no internet connection, you can watch astro ah if you change to astro iptv?

I kena once saturday suddenly no internet connection, maxis support only come to fix on Tuesday!

Oh ok, good on you.

But I am willing to let go the rm25 discount.

I just don't like to put my all my eggs in the same basket.

If you think you can live without internet and tv at the same time, go for it.

Sorry, bro! I won't!

As mentioned, internet connection in Malaysia is simply unreliable.

What is the use of having huge water tap head the size of king kong head, if there is no water supply?

Same here, 1000Mbps also useless when there is no internet connection.

Some more like nowadays frequent disruption, I watch live football at dawn, suddenly everything stop working, can't bear that!

anyone with at least 2 ipads?

i found something weird... if i on both ipads, one idle and one active, i use ookla to test the speed, only get half 5Mbps(for download and uploads), instead of the usual 10 Mbps

once i off the other ipad, it is back to usual speed 10Mbps

i suspect this may due to the maxis technician who came over last time and changing the software program, mine is 10.2.8.3(CN)... the technician opened the software program and changing the code, thinking he is genius, yet cannot solve my original problem

could anyone with 2 or more ipads help to test it out

thanks.
