im not sure yet...i have the Koss UR20 which i dont really like...theyre closed phones with closed back with pleather pads. not really sure how theyll sound in them.
i also have the HP250 which i DO like. also has closed back but with cloth pads and theyre open cans.
anyway....here comes the impressions...ive only had these things on for about an hour. so take it with a grain of salt. these impressions are based on songs i normally listen to.
Metallica - Orion
sounded really nice...everything was nice and smooth. very nice and clear...i could even hear the slight cymbals in the background. guitars was prominent. could even get some hints of the bass guitar in the background.
Metallica - Through The Never
The guitars was in ur face! nice. but the highs...oh my god the highs! can u spell P-A-I-N? the cymbals and the beat drum thingy was really painful.
Massive Attack - Angel
Soundstage non existent. in ur face thing again. and during the intro even though the bass was tight, it sounded a little hollow. not impactful.
Massive Attack - Teardrop
again soundstage was quite narrow. the bass although was impactful sounded a little hollow imho. but not as hollow as Angel's intro. the female voice was nice, crisp and prominent.
Massive Attack - Man Next Door
this song has the male singer singing in a very funny voice. seriously. again soundstage is narrow. but the bass was nice and impactful. the male voice was also nice and clear. but certain parts can get quite high and annoying.
Korn - Seen It All
ok...im not too sure..but im ALMOST sure that this is the song that killed my 12" Subwoofer in my car. the intro part has this real strong bass that goes REALLY low and REALLY deep. the KSC75 doesnt.
Metallica Call Of Ktulu (S&M Album)
Bass drums is not overpowering in this one...i think it was just nice. soundstage is narrow...but still there. exact instrument placement isnt that easy..but at least i can tell which part of the stage theyre on.
LOTR Soundtrack - Requiem for a dream
This song is originally from the movie requiem for a dream. but they put it in the LOTR movie oso. now this is one of the songs i like to relax and enjoy...and i do enjoy this song with the KSC75. everything was nice and detailed. theres one part of the song where the bass would actually rattle my car...again the KSC75 didnt manage to give that kinda impact.
Doom OST - First Person Shooter
i like this soundtrack. and with the KSC75 i was able to enjoy this song nicely. slight lacking in bass. only slight mind u. and narrow soundstage. but the music was clear and enjoyable.
Cradle of Filth - From the cradle to enslave.
i have always used the intro of this song to test out a few things... surround effect, bass. the surround effect on the KSC75 was really narrow. it didnt really go 'out' as much as it does in my car or on my beyers. but bass wise... the bass guitar was really prominent in the intro. but the bass drum was somewhat lacking. the mids was very prominent. which is something i like. but i find the guitars somewhat drowned out the vocals a little....just a little.
ok...although it might sound like i have a lot of complaints about the cans...i really do like them....theyre very enjoyable. and they do sound really good. just that my main issue is the bass as im almost a basshead

soundstage is not much of an issue. as most of the songs i listen to are metal.
i wanted to try it with some gaming (UT2004) but cant...they leak too much sound and my boss will hear me playing game

all this was tested with the audio rig in the centre of my sig (except the beyer of course).
real bang for buck IMHO.
w00t! time to go home and sleep!!
