hi everyone. trying to get a new headphone, not sure to get in ear creative ep630 or this wan..
I like bass, but not too much. having a meizu now. Does Koss KSC75 bring out good bass?
Wanna ask, izit worth it to buy this wan? or should i stick with ep630?
is it portable enuf for me to bring out?

Newbie here, thanks for aswering.
*
If you want bass right away, get EP630. The Creative earphone produces strong bass already as you recently bought it. The Koss however, takes some time to produce the amount of bass that EP630 can produced, you need to burn it for a period for the bass to improve. However in the long run, the Koss worth more because of its details and clarity of sound

Haha, I am not up to that fanatic level yet. Won't getting amp or at least not now.
*
Me too not fanatic yet, probably will only buy my first amp or DAC next year... Wait a minute, are not we only two months before entering next year? sweat.gif

I can't believe how poisonous this sub LYN thread Audiophile. I still remember only several months ago I didnt know any existence about amp or DAC, and never even heard any names such as Creative EP630, Koss KSC 75, Sennheiser, AKG, Crossroad, etc... Those names are too alien to me when I first read them in this forum, Now I can even know how each brands can give different sound flavors and also their qualities!!

I'll do my best not to over spend my money, not to forget that I'm still a student with no real earned income yet. Phew, this is not easy to accomplish unfortunately for me. Maybe If I try to visit LYN less frequently might be helpful to save money laugh.gif

You can use Koss for jogging since its a clip design, EP630 will falls out of your ear if you jog.

Plus the EP630 design maybe too humble for our Asian fashion taste, it lacks the flashy flashy. People might just think that you actually only wear a typical handsfree instead of nice earphone. The Koss on the other hand may attracts little extra attentions however

Oh one more significant con for EP630: microphonic effect! brows.gif When you are walking, and EP630 wire in contact with your shirt, you will experience unpleasant noise that call microphonic effect. If I'm not mistaken the Koss does not have this problem

seriously, i'd prefer to be low profile sweat.gif
i don't think i will wear my KSC-75 on the move, one of the reason is it does not isolate noise, and another is it will be weird to wear it outside
*
You are no different from me, I was also hesitating to buy the Koss initially due to its flashy appearance. I asked jiaxun whether is there humble and less attractive black color version, he said no

KSC-75 only got 1 colour lo brother. You want black maybe you can be the first to paint it black tongue.gif
*
I'll try to do that in later future when its badly scratched already. Black paint to cover the scratches biggrin.gif

becareful not to spray the paint inside the holes. the casing itself is the spider for the driver.

so if u drop some paint into the holes of the casing, it will directly stick on the membrane. hence might influence the sound as the membrane might not vibrate in straight line anymore as increase in weight on some part of the membrane. and the paint that harden will reduce the flexiblity of the membrane itself too.
*
Nice to have someone like you who can enlighten us regarding the technical aspect of headphone. Can I just take out the casing, separating the casing from the driver? Is it technically possible?

I will say this again for the greater good.

KSC 75 will murder and stand on it's own if properly amped.

I think it sounds 60% of what my HD650 is capable of yet it's many times cheaper.
*
What's your amp? Can you suggest us what good are good amps for KSC 75?

anyone know why the price from 2 years ago almost same with current price?
*
Koss Corporation already enjoying big fat profit margin from KSC 75 ongoing sale for years, so they are too lazy to raise the price biggrin.gif

If they raise price, there maybe will happen some increase in users who want to claim their can's lifetime warranty from Koss. So it safer for Koss to keep the price as it is than facing increasing warranty claims. Not many headphone companies willing to give lifetime no asked question warranty out there though

All in all, these are just my assumptions. Not factual really rolleyes.gif

How u guys keep ur ksc75? I think i need to get a headphone case or risk losing my ear clips..
*
I use an eyeglass case to keep my ksc75, easily sits on my pocket or bag so I can travel anywhere. Its also cheap or even free if you already have one

This idea I was inspired from Sennheiser PX100 and PX200

Mine is black color, sexier it is

I love resorting to cheap or no-nonsense approach, instead of plunging into unnecessary excessive spending like most audiophile. Keep yourself from HIGH-fi spending insanity

What's your source for headphone burning? Hi-fi in your family room?

QUOTE(Dybre @ Dec 9 2008, 02:29 AM)
lol,,, just buy a small cheap radio that is sold in pasarmalam. maybe like 10 bucks or so which uses a small battery.. then just plug the earphone into the radio and leave it when you go to sleep till the battery finish... cheap and more efficient if you want to process it faster.
*
QUOTE(jycheang @ Dec 9 2008, 09:33 PM)
juz plug in to any source u have then play some song

btw y ur mum will ... u shocking.gif

u burn in using TV ? or hifi set?

as long u play something or plug in radio that point to any channel. ( white noise)

a bit higher than ur normal listen volume level will done.
*
Agree with both of you

QUOTE(roticanai92 @ Dec 9 2008, 11:10 PM)
no time limit for burning in?
straight burn for 20 hours, no problem doing tat?
*
I've burn mine several hundreds of hour, lost count already. It's pale in comparison however since there's another LYN forumer have burned his for 1800hours/2-3months!

Man, its been long since last time I visit this great audiophile forum site, rarely went online during holiday
