I just read a comment somewhere. Don't you think that the always-on feature is intended to keep the leak at minimum? And since all Durango ever availables are only for developers and no one outside the circle have it, I'd say 50-50 that the always on is a mandatory.

For me, my biggest concern is how they intend to implement DRM on retail discs.

One of the main reasons for why I'm more a console gamer is because on console, i can lend and share my games with family members and friends. I can buy used games and you (specifically tongue.gif) can post up an epic wtb list in a pasar malam type thread on the forums. If they somehow messed about with that, I'll probably be moving back towards PC gaming.

Personally, I don't think mandatory always online will happen. Having said that, it might be a dick move but it might mean a more active online community in the long run.

Ouch! On my nose huh? Anyway, I think you might not have to worry about that. Few months earlier, Gamestop b**** about MS rumored move to block used games, but few days ago, their CEO put up a statement that the next Xbox is awesome.

P/S: got games that is in my WTB list? drool.gif  drool.gif

So here's the official confirmation on how the Xbox One works -

http://news.xbox.com/2013/06/connected
http://news.xbox.com/2013/06/license
http://news.xbox.com/2013/06/privacy

For those lazy to click the links, the important bits are;

- You can share games with your friends provided that they've been your friend for at least a month (on your friendlist at least) and each game can ONLY be given ONCE.
- Games on your Xbox One can be accessed by anyone in your household, no matter their relation to you or whether they are using your profile or not.
- You can trade-in and resell your games, MS has given the decision to publishers for them to work out how they want their games to be resold with "participating" retailers. In Malaysia, a place where MS doesn't care about: this means that we're shit out of luck (for now at least) to resell games.

- Kinect's privacy settings can be adjusted, will NOT record any sort of audio or video if you do not want it to (LOL, always assume you're being recorded regardless of what a company says).
- You can turn off Kinect when gaming, unless the game needs the device.

- The Xbox One needs to be connected to the internet every 24 hours, otherwise games will cease to work... but you can still watch LIVE TV. Wtf? If you're going to watch live TV, you might as well be logged on.
- If you're logged onto your account on a different Xbox One, the console needs to be connected to the internet at least every 1 hour for authentication.

I have been waiting for clarification on the concept of 2nd hand discs and I have to say that I hate the DRM systems and policies that they have announced so far for the xbone. I'm old skool - i like game discs and i like the idea of owning something. I mean this is the main reason why I'm not big time on steam/pc. Gives me even less of a reason to refresh the pasar malam page in the stickies.

In regards to the sharing, I'm thinking that typically cheapskate Malaysians will exploit this to the max. Based on what microsoft have published, this means we can form x-box family clubs? 1 disc for 10 gamertags/xboxes. This is what our neighbours in the PS3 section did with their 5 console limits on downloads.

Haha saw that video of how to share a PS4 game. Sony is really trolling Microsoft a lot.
Hopefully this is a good thing which will lead Microsoft to make some changes that would favour us consumers more.

It's awesome. Sony are definitely taking the right steps in regards to respecting our rights as consumers. I only wish that I could use the xbox controller on the PS4 because based on this key issue that's where I'll be heading in the next gen.

Microsoft either need to step up their standard by letting no used games go or just lay low and let Sony do the job.

They are already losing the price war by a very significant USD100, and with DRM for used games, there's very little reason to go with the xbox. After all with the exception of kinect, both consoles are very similar in terms of hardware. In terms of games, I also noticed that quite a few indie developers have chosen to go with sony (supergiant, klei) - and even bungie premiered destiny footage on the ps4.

I'm not alone in this but my response to the MS reveals and communications have been a mixture of both wtf, disappointment and anger (ie. butthurt). They have to respond otherwise there is no real reason to go with Microsoft in the next gen.

What was it like back in the olden days of E3 especially 2-3 years after the launch of PlayStation 3 and XBOX 360? The same I reckon? I heard PlayStation3 back then was $600.
*
I've always been excited about console launches and reveals. Whether sega, nintendo, sony or microsoft.

I didn't buy the PS3 at launch either. I have one now with some exclusives and i do dabble occasionally. However, if you're talking multiplatform titles, I always picked the 360 version. Maybe, it's because I've grown attached to my gamertag and my achievements, or dat controller and I most certainly do not regret making the 360 my main gaming platform.

Xbone is a fresh start. I have no attachment to it apart from maybe my gamertag carrying over. I do know that if I buy an xbone now it wouldn't be a rational decision and one most likely based on fanboism. The rational part of is going, "hmm.. 100usd less and I actually own the games that i buy."

I'll probably get a combination of Forza 5, Dead Rising 3 and Watch_Dogs. I don't want to play Lego games though, not on 360, for sure not on One.
*
Have they confirmed the type of power supply they're bundling with xbox one, is it universal or will i need a step down transformer particularly for a US version?

DR3 and crimson dragon look like the more promising launch titles, forza i always buy but never end up playing. Waiting to see what ryse, watch dogs, ac4 are like before comitting.

Titanfall and project spark look interesting post launch.

Even if it's not 80's the spec of PAL is indeed lower framerate....

the last console I owned, that I had to mod with 50/60hz switch was the Sega Saturn. After that, both my pal Dreamcast and Xbox allowed me to output 60hz in pal. So yeah, its a retro console problem.
