Today I went to the Klinik Perggiian Cempaka at Taman Cempaka, PJ Near LDP there.

After treatment, they charged me for RM260.00.

RM80 for Extraction of Molar tooth
RM180 for Scaling (2 times, this time the first time).

Actually I came here 1 week ago because I got tooth ache problem. They charged me for RM50 (Medicine)
to stop the pain and kill bacteria in tooth.

The scaling charged too high because the nurse I have gum problem.

What I really don't like is the attitude of the nurse towards me and my other friend. When we asked her why the price so high, she
said let her talk first. It is just like the Miss LISTEN published in newspaper recently.

Am i being charged too high for that kind of treatment and treated in bad manner as a patient or customer ?

the dentist office (Kepong shoplots around housing area) I went to has a piece of price list (price range) of different procedures. I remembered the price is RM80-130 for scaling depending on dirt accumulation. I guess mine was quite clean they charged me RM80 only. But the detist found a small hole in the wisdom tooth and need tampal-tampal, total charge RM160.

must see what kind of tampalan lo. . . if mix powder with water and then tampal to your teeth, then is too expensive.
Unless it is a composite which i read the dental articles in some newspaper.

the denstist scratch the surface of the tooth, then suck out all saliva & blow on the inside of the cheeck to dry that area, later she tampal the 'milky white stuff' on it, shine some light on it, done. She told me I can eat after 30 minutes. Dunno whether it is composite or not.

Most probably is not the composite because normally they will syringe something blue into the mouth, rinse, air dry, brush something smell like lemon onto your teeth, then only they put the composite.

What u told me here the procedure is so simple.

I have just seen the youtube video video

It is a commercial video but it gives me some idea.

I would say that you paid a fair price, (180 for two scaling, no?) but for charging you higher because of your gum problem sounds a bit too unjustified - it does legally depends on the dentist though so you're out of luck on that. MDA actually publishes the recommended fee structure for dental services in Malaysia, you can always compare what you paid and the recommended prices are, eventhough tbh the recommended fees are indeed quite steep and Im positive you can actually get cheaper services from your local dentist anyway

Why dont you try government clinics for simple procedures like scaling? You can get them practically free there. Personally I wouldnt waste my precious hundred for a scaling, i know the mainstream view is that the service is bad, but seriously its just a scaling, you cannot really mess that up.

Better luck next time bro icon_rolleyes.gif

I paid RM 100 For scaling and polishing. I believe Malaysian DEntal Association came up with a recommended schedule of fees. THey also gave me a quote of Rm950 for root treatment and crowning for a front tooth

Root canal is never cheap. And RM950 sounds about right.

MDA fee is just minimum. I've seen dentist charged a lot higher in Kuching, Sarawak, some twice the fees.

Hi there, I think it is a right of every customer to ask if something is doubtful. Also the price of your dental charges is little high, if you compare it to other dental clinics, the some would never be that high. The nurse shouldn't talk to customer like that because your just asking and there's nothing wrong about it.

for molar extraction, RM80 is a fair price. I just had my molar extracted and it's RM160 I think. Also, some more "high class" dentist charges more than RM200 for molar extraction. Scaling also quite cheap for RM180 (2 x RM90). Scalling is usually more than RM100.

Rm950 for root treatment and crowning for a front tooth is CHEAP. Crowning alone for some goes up to over 1k.

Recently , I went to a dental clinic at Taman Sri Rampai. The dental service is excellent The female dentist very kind to explain the treatement i needed .She also captured some photos and showed me in the computer. I feel the charges also reasonable . I feel comfortable because in front of the reception i can easily view the ranges of the treatment fees.

Same to me. Imprerial dental. The dentists are relatively inexperience. The experienced doctors, namely, dr how and may be his wife, will walk around visiting each room to check on the inexperience doctors making sure that everything is in order. No joke. I felt like a test subject. The nurses and doctors were quarrelling. My first set of crowns were wrongly molded. Then they ordered the second set for me, against not perfectly fit. Then many excuses were given. At the end, my problem is not resolved and money wasted. Extremely expensive. Good luck with this clinic.

Ya, it gives me the same feeling - expensive n the dentist im seeing now (Dr How Assistant) give me the impression of no confidence, uncertainty from the way she communicated to me. Im seeing her now bcos of my gum infection wt pus, done root canaling, finished the antibiotic, some medicine to aplply n have to go thru laser treatment for several times in this few months but still haven't subsided.

Im wondering is she experience enuff or just a money minded clinic???? Feel like looking for another dentist but I dun know which one is good dentist. My gum infection really give me enuff problem.

Just remember this golden truth: The health industry is a for-profit industry. If nobody gets sick, the doctors/dentists/specialists would go broke and become social pariah. It is within their best interest to suggest you a 'solution' that is bad enough to deteriorate your health slowly in the long term but not too bad that it kills you right away, so that you may spend money continuously at medical centers for treatments. Natural treatments that work are almost free and these medical people would not allow it to be known.

If you want to keep a healthy teeth, then avoid drinking or brushing teeth with toothpaste containing fluoride.

Regardless of what the doctors/dentists say, fluoride corrodes the teeth and make them brittle.
Fluoride is an industrial waste that is too expensive and destructive to be disposed, so is included into our water system and make us the dump site.
No surprise there will be dentists that will argue that fluoride is beneficial, but bear in mind fluoride is one of the most toxic thing beside arsenic and mercury and is used as rat poison. Dentists will say fluoride is different from industrial waste. They are lying. Research it at Youtube and learn from those without vested financial interest.

Yeah, research it on youtube, seems legit, google scholar and all the thesis is there for a reason

dentist can charge any amount according to their expertise and experience and location of business as long as following the scale recommended by MDA. pls note, it is recommended and not compulsory, every case even for scaling etc may be somewhat diff.

if u are not happy with the treatment or charges , u can always make a complaint to Malaysian dental council, no one else can tell u what ur dentist did or charged is right or wrong. Otherwise, change ur dentist.

On fluoride debate, upto u, if you decided to use toothpaste without fluoride, there is very limited choices in the market. too much of anything is toxic, medicine is also poison if consumed in higher dose than therapeutic dose. Fluoride in toothpaste is for external use aka for brushing only, if u swallow everytime u brush, consequences is on u but not blame the toothpaste w fluoride.

All that fluoride shit is just that.. garbage. There may be some circumstantial link to it but it is a small risk. Like worrying on getting skin cancer from working under fluorescence light because fluorescence lighting have UV, and UV causes skin cancer. Are you going to start applying sun screen before going to your office desk?

Just make sure you cover your basics. Make sure you brush your teeth and floss daily. If you drink a lot of sweet stuff (coffee or tea with sugar, Cola) or snack a lot, at least gargle with water.
Also make sure you get a balance diet with enough calcium.

2x yearly check with a good dentist. Find someone you're comfortable. He/SHe should be able to answer your question. If LCLY with you, fark them and get another dentist.

Well i guess that is pretty standard , extraction ,X-ray , 3 unit bridge .
Might cost more if you choose full porcelain bridge .

Full porcelain would range from 1.5k per unit to about 2k per unit . so for a 3 unit u will have to X3
