Geekbuying offered free shipping... as it will shipped from Singapore. I deal with this website before, quite good.

How about tax? saved from it by luck or...?

though the website shown some ridiculous price before discount.
I read better review about merimobiles and also heard it ships from singapore. Didnt have any experience with both though.

If dun wan dual sim then there are lot lot better choice out there like snapdrgon 800 and tegra 4 are coming by this year, I believe on of the main factor people buy china brand are because of dual sim, then only come with worth money value smile.gif
*
Totally agree with you.

Dual sims FTW. plus i already fed up with the standard Brand who's selling dual sim phone with crappy spec.
And then when they tried to build "a bit" better spec dual sim phone, the price is already ridiculous.

And here is where the fan of All these wonderful Phones come in. biggrin.gif
Great spec + Good Quality + Dual Sims + Cheaper

As for LTE, unless they decide to build LTE network over there in the land of these phones soon,
then i doubt they will consider to put this feature in the phone.

Why so angry one.

if feel the phone not good enough, than go for mainstream.

On the side note, suddenly the Xiaomi Red Rice catches my attention.

rumors to have dual SIM support and SD card expansion. cool2.gif

Other of its spec is trying to fight Jiayu G4 Basic.

Downside is the Batt only 2000maH.

Price-wise, the rumors seem to put in sub 1000 Yuan. nice.

Yeah, like THL W11 Monkey King FHD 1980*1080 16GB 1GB MTK6589T 1.5 Quad for example.

Xiaomi HongMi is the new "entry-level" phone from xiaomi.
Their next flagship suppose soon to be Mi3.

Without WCDMA, HongMi kind of useless here in malaysia. Hopefully there's a diff spec for internationals.

Luna, what is the expected price you gonna put for HongMi?

RM1k++ can get Xiaomi 2S for single sim phone or ZOPO, iOcean, Jiayu and lot of flagship phone for dual sim, 1k++ is very good budget for china phone smile.gif
*
Non of the typical online seller is selling these phone.

ZTE v987 $239 (RM773++)
FAEA F1 $174 (RM564++)
FAEA F2 $275 (RM888++)
Vowney V5 $179 (RM580++)

*Price roughly quote from merimobiles

From what i read, these phones got quite a good spec value vs price.

For example vowney v5, minus the problematic GPS, others keep giving a raving review of it.

Luna, can you please roughly translate the price to local standard include shipping/insurance or anythg? Atleast we can get the idea. brows.gif

tell me again which is the typical brand under around 1k that has a build like htc one?

though i can confirm to you for Jiayu G4, the build quality feel is damn solid in hand.
I played with it a few weeks ago. big batt capacity also. 3000mah which most user reports moderate usage last for almost 3 days.

And yes, I'm gonna get it within these couple of months. been waiting for Turbo version.

Reason for choosing Jiayu G4

-Turbo Version
-Solid feeling of build quality
-big Batt
-under 5" screen
-awesome spec
-good firmware support
-lots of custom ROM choices
-dual sim
-nice value vs price

should be around RM830++ biggrin.gif

The phone is already out.
The stock is said to be here the middle of this month, August.

I'm just waiting for a bit more.

Your budget is more than enough. There's alot of choices.

Jiayu G4 Basic
iOcean
Zopo c2
Xiaomi (the best for single sim)

rclxub.gif Now i'm torn to either pick up Jiayu G4 Turbo 1GB ram/4GB

or wait some more for this hongmi to be available.
Bad news for this red thingy is there already 7.45 million pre-orders. And the 1st batch (100k units) already snatched up within 90sec.

Hmm... looking at things, i might pick up jiayu g4 now,
and perhaps end of next year another better choice from Xiaomi.

I could not agree more that Jiayu g4's built quality is very good and solid. I had this phone for like 1~2 weeks and sent it back for a 1:1 change perhaps. I don't know why it became super lame, even browsing picture in stock gallery would make it hang and restart. Maybe the unit that i got was defective so the new ones would be normal. Not trying to let u down but yes it happened to me.
*
Really? hmm... this is the 1st time i heard about it. Thanks for the heads up.
though i'm thinking whether if it gotta do with corrupted SD card or old ROM.
Did you stored the photos in ext sd card?

I also heard that changing sd card without getting the batt out 1st could potentially damages the sd.

I'm waiting for the turbo version for this very reason, not that only because i hope the extra 1.5Ghz vs 1.2Ghz would somehow help multitask.
but also for a new batch of the phone. Hopefully some of the Bugs been cleaned up.

And the new Lewa OS 5. I wish they installed that latest version. I know it is wishfull thinking. Might need to flash it myself.

Another step i'm waiting is for the official MIUI V5 for this jiayu g4. As we know, RedRice is MTK6589T and also dual sims. Its ROM can be the base for porting unofficial version.

Can we discuss whether a 1GB RAM phone is all we need instead of 2GB phone?

I know that more RAM the better. But let say the diff in price is more than rm200++.

Will it be worth it?

From a vid in youtube, it showed to us that a 1GB Ram phone will auto kill some of the background apps in order for latest apps to run. While the 2GB ram ain't killing anythg just yet.

This raise a question of how many tabs can i open when i surf internet. As those will hogged the RAM and subsequently reload the page.

What do you guys think?

The problem with jiayu is that they seems to announce way too early and then keep delaying the sale.

Jiayu G4 is announce since way back 2012? i think. and by june-july we got a steady basic version, and now still waiting a steady production of advance version.

But for those who like the design of Jiayu G3S, can already go buy it. Yeah it came with MTK6589T 1.5Ghz.
RM680+- if i'm not mistaken.

but say battery performance and GPU, i would pick the S1
and is not bad already bro....
just now watch the boot speed vs iPhone 5 damn farking fast drool.gif
time taken : 27.7 secs (JY s1)/ 28.3Secs (iPhone 5)
nenamark: JY s1
Antutu:JY S1
so i would fully recommended JiaYu S1 and the 1st mainstream branded china brand w QualComm leh.. IMHO
and u can see that xiaomi2s (even powerful brand and even it can parred w HTC butterfly biggrin.gif

Snapdragon 600 cost quite a bit.
By the time it came out, the price will be comparable with Nexus 4.

Not to mention the confirm rival Xiaomi Mi3.

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

the price of RM1099 is for me is quite a bit on a high side due to only 1GB Ram.

The plus side is, it being sold directly here in malaysia and so better warranty and all.

I heard it is not like their original product, but more like a re-branding those china-phone.

The time almost come for me to choose one.
So within these couple of weeks, it is crucial for me to reassess which one is the most suitable.
By suitable, I mean that it can hold up with my need and demand (smooth buttery, heh), and at the same time, not making me overpaid for something that I never really need and use.
Cough*cough*touchwiz* premium paid air gesture, smart stay, smart scroll*cough*cough*

What we “think” we need is totally different than what we actually use daily.

So the condition would be as listed:

-Dual Sims.

-The price versus value is good. (No point paying premium for extra things that I never gonna use. And most of those extra features, we can get it for free. There really are apps for those thing. Thanks to XDA)

-It is smooth to operate even when I open lots of tabs during web surfing.

-it has awesome batt life. Yeah more than a day is a must awesomeness.

-it has a good level of gaming capability. (The thing is, I’m not really a heavy gamer. But it would annoyed the hell out of me if even the simple but perhaps a slight demanding graphic will made the phone lagged. I tried on a different platform which has antutu mark 17000++ and 2GBRam but still failed to operate smoothly Minion Rush? WTH? Now how can I expect a good experience with higher 3D games?)

-Solidly build. So a good build quality like Jiayu G4 is the benchmark.

-to have OTG function would be great. MHL is not really needed for me.

Though I am in a dilemma, could I live with the Basic Turbo version or would I wish I waited for the Advanced Turbo version? 1GB Ram vs 2GB Ram.
Will paying an extra RM200+- for 2GB Ram be worth it?
If i took the basic one, i still need to buy sd card rm20-40.

I have short listed these phones for now.
HongMi and Neo N003 sadly isn’t ready stock to be considered at the moment. If not these two can be a serious contender in my list.

All these phones have the same SoC. MTK6589Turbo 1.5Ghz. Cortex-A7 quad-core process
GPU:Power VR SGX544
Antutu standard around 13k-15k.

-JIAYU G4 3000mah 1GBRam/4GBRom (RM820+-)
4.7 Inch Retina screen, Resolution: 1280x720p. 312PPI, IPS screen, Corning II Gorilla Glass
Dual Cameras, front camera 13.0MP, back camera 3.0MP

-THL W11 Monkey King 2000mah 1GBRam/16GBRom (RM890+-) 2GBRam/32GBRom (Rm1070+-)
5.0 Inch IPS, Resolution: 1280x1080p. 441PPI, OGS technology
Dual Cameras, front camera 13.0MP, back camera 13.0MP

-Zopo C2 2000mah 1GBRam/16GBRom (RM950+-) 2GBRam/32GBRom (Rm1100+-)
5.0 Inch IPS, FHD, Resolution: 1280x1080p.

Totally agree with our 1st point, some premium functions are extra but when come to real life it is not a must(or waste if you din even use the function after you purchase the devices).

-For dual sim phone, MTK processor is most common and cheaper choice. MTK6589T is the latest powerful processor of MediaTek, if you could wait till next year, they are coming with REAL octa core processor. smile.gif

-Battery part, if you want your phone to last for one day with 3G data on all the time, Phone that come with  3000mAh battery and only 720P resolution will be your choice, when go to FHD screen, you need to control the 3G data on time or an extra battery.

-When talk about gaming, PowerVR SGX544 with clockspeed 544MHz that come with MTK6589T processor is good enough for casual gaming, but Minion rush is somehow a exception, before the latest update, it run really smooth on my ZOPO C2(flagship), smoother than Nexus 7, but after the latest update, it was crap, I do believe is the apps compatiblility, other game like AVP, Real racing 3, Dungeon hunter 4 are running smooth.

-1GB or 2GB ram? depend on what you need, if multi-tasking alot, just pay alil more for 2GB and normall come with 32GB ROM which will worth the money.

JIAYU G4 come with large battery capacity, it have really good standby time.

THL I have no comment, never have chance to touch this brand.

ZOPO C2, it have really good display, 5" 441PPI FHD display is really good, the front camera is 8MP instead of 5MP. But it have weaker performance when come to battery, it can last for one day if connect wifi most of the time with some moderate usage. IF you turn on 3G most of the time, you really need an extra battery.

Hope this will help you. smile.gif

Thanks dude. Really help to reconfirm some of my thoughts.

I'm quite interested with JIAYU g4...it have 2 version is it, youth and premium version? Is premium version available locally? Can anyone tell me the seller and price?
*
The premium version is still not available locally as far as i know. But the price should be 950-1099.
Heard that most online sellers keep bringing the price for premium version higher and higher due to demand.
Check the price when it came out and decide again. I personally wouldnt want to spend more than i should for something that has a high price due to the high demand instead of value.
