Its because of heat of the plug, turn off your power and let it cool and continue charging. U can claim warranty.

lol..i claim new charger and the same problem comes out. charge only 90%.. can forget using the supplied charger. i use my other ipad charger to charge mini now.

I bought an ipad mini from EpicCentre in IOI mall recently, and noticed that whenever I charge, it will only go up to 85%. I searched google and found this thread, seems like I'm not the only one who have this problem. Anyway, I went back to EpicCentre to claim warranty and hopefully can get a one-to-one exchange for the charger. EpicCentre said they can't do one-to-one exchange, instead they have to send the charger to Apple service centre for repair. The whole process would take 7 days. I'm really disappointed with this service. Do they expect me to go 7 days without a charger for my ipad mini? EpicCentre suggested that if I wanted faster, I could to Apple service centre directly, either the one in Berjaya Time Square or the other one in KL. It is really time consuming for me to go to the Apple service centre in KL. If the service centre also ask me to wait 7 days I would just forget about it and live with it. Does anyone know if Apple service centre can give one-to-one exchange on the charger?

I did it this way. I charge until it stopped and close the switch and let it charge again. I did end up 100% usually because the adapter we have is not enough powerful so it takes two times to charge.

i have 2 ipad mini at home, 1 for myself, and 1 for my wife. Both ipad got problem to charge until 100%. normally, it will stop at 91%.

so what i do is switch off the socket, then turn on back.  the ipad will continue charge until 100%. i'm not sure whether this problem come from adapter or ios it self.

Actually I've tried few methods proposed in multiple forums (for both initial purchased set and exchanged set  )

1) recalibration as recommended by apple tech
    result: stop charging at 90%
2) Switched power supple off and back on after  few second
    result: manage to charge to 100% eventually
3) Perform hard reset
    result: battery percentage indicator from 89/90% - ard 94%

Even though method 2 works, I do not think it is how a gadget should behave. A non-faulty electronic gadget should be able to charge to 100% at one-go.

want to ask..
if my ipad mini comes from maxis warranty,
for the warranty claim of the charger, do i need to go only to maxis centre or i may go to apple centre?

Let me repeat myself too, I've read and tried few methods proposed in multiple forums. Some possible 'solutions' like using iPhone's adapter or watnot, for some first time apple product buyers like myself, we just don't have spare apple adapters laying around the house But anyway, thanks for responding.

Anyhow, got another 1 to 1 exchange within 7 days of purchase and finally it is able to charge till 100% (AT ONE GO). According to the technical staff, the 1st shipment of adapters were faulty. Hope this helps

I alao facing same problem ... Using ori charger will chraging until 89% ...
If using iphone charger , it will be 100% ...
Solution for me , just change plug with my iphone then problem settle ... Huhu ...

Start charge from 5% ... Almost finish will playing clash of clans and movie everyday ... Huhu ... After change to iphone adapter , it fully charging ... 100% ...
