QUOTE(geek8585 @ Mar 31 2013, 08:43 PM) POLL: hmm, quoted from someone else, if u need to ask, then dont buy.If u have 1.8k on hand, will you buy a Fujinon XF 18mm/F2 or a X20 compact ? (you have XE1+35mm with you) For me, X20 seems tasty, because i already have X100 and X100s, add 1 more X20 silver then = good collection |

QUOTE(geek8585 @ Mar 31 2013, 09:37 PM) ya, you know what? i was aiming to buy the 18mm lens, currently i hv 35mm already... my type of shooting is more to landscape/scenery/building and street... hold the horse 1st la since ur not sure. XE2 coming maybe...so was thinking of getting the 18mm can grand me few advantages in my coming trips: (1) wider focal length (2) the size of the lens, make it more like a x100 size hence, some of my fren just throw me some words... with the price of that lens, u can get a spare x20 in your pocket... i was like, why dont u wait me buy the lens only tell me, i'm serious dilemma now... perhaps, like what u said... if i end up dont buy the 18mm, i wont use the money buy x20 as well la |

QUOTE(vcheewei @ Apr 2 2013, 03:28 PM) How you find your X100s, I have been using it for 3 sessions, and noted the followings:1) faster af in good light vs X100, comparable with my ex D5100 2) Couldn't notice different in bad light vs X100, non conclusive findings, probably need more try. 3) Picture seems sharper with good dynamic range vs X100 4) Overall more responsive in terms of startup, buffering etc 5) Batt quite quick to dry up with High performance mode, extra battery is a must 6) Q button and profile is useful 7) Manual focus assist is useful but i hardly use for now since af is fast enough 8) Almost miss this out - Very clean and usable high iSO up to 6400 vs X100 3200 - Very Impressed Anyone else have comments on their new purchase? QUOTE(vcheewei @ Apr 2 2013, 04:39 PM) I don't own the previous version, i'm still in the very early stage of testing (first test actually), maybe I haven't configure it right but the AF is a little odd. Hmm, for the multi AF, go to shooting menu 4, and change to multiBtw is there an equivalent of 'multi AF' in x100s? (e.g. you half press it will focus on 'possible' subject and alternating between possible subjects whenever u re-half-press the shutter) ? I seem to encounter lots of "AF!" errors. Still not used to the way the "View Mode" option available. for AF error, i encountered them if too close, or on and off if too dark. View mode, i usually use either the "eye sensor" or the 1 after eye sensor which only using optical viewfinder and screen no show anything. |

QUOTE(vcheewei @ Apr 2 2013, 05:47 PM) I tried that yesterday, but when it focuses it doesn't tell you which area it focused on though. I'm comparing with my d300. There's a green box confirming af, if dont have switch between different view modei got !AF even during the day when shooting tree branches, not too sure why. yeah that's the bit im not used to, as a SLR user I'll shoot with my view finder and then i want to view on my LCD right after, but if you choose EVF your photo preview will be in the EVF as well. The !AF when focusing on branches happened to me somehow, couldnt explained it, refocus and then can lock focus I off preview already, so couldnt comment on preview. |

QUOTE(vcheewei @ Apr 2 2013, 06:00 PM) yeah but the green box is always in the middle instead of multiple boxes on the 'focused subject'. Nope.... go to shooting menu 4, and change to multi, and the green box will be random and hunting for the subject to af. btw do you always leave your ND filter on? I was shooting at big aperture in the evening and couldn't figure out why it's over exposed to realised there's a maximum shutter speed for certain aperture. If u shoot under the sun or using big apperture, F2 for example, you may need ND on. My ND only on if F16 also too bright. No point on ND all the time. IMO, F2 is not so usable,F2.8 ok, F4 and above sharp. This may not be the camera if you want bokeh. F2.8 or F2 may only really good to use if under low light and without choice |

QUOTE(bem69 @ Apr 2 2013, 06:07 PM) Some observation with the X100s. Ya. Concur with ISo 6400.What I noticed is that the image looks sharper but less saturated than X100 in STD mode. Half-press focusing sometimes brings unnatural AWB. Half-pressing that again will fix that problem. 6400 ISO performance is awesome. Manual ring + focus peaking is SUPERB! I've set Auto ISO to max 6400, low 100, then minimum shutter 1/100 To X100s user, What's your setting? |

QUOTE(bem69 @ Apr 2 2013, 06:29 PM) I set it to low 200, max 6400, minimum shutter 1/30. But I guess 1/100 works eh? Less camera shake I suppose. 1/100 or above is not for your camera shake, is to minimize subject movement. (Dunno the technical terms)Quick question, How do I adjust the focus box size? adjust focus box - Dunno. |
