I found an awesome collection of scuba diving accident stories here: http://www.scubadiving.com/training/lessons-life

It's a good resource for understanding the dangers of the sport.
*
hehe.. not sure if awesome is the right word for diving accidents..

It is the size of the collection that is awesome (100 stories).

The accidents themselves are not awesome smile.gif

For malaysian style of diving, Steffen Sea Sports.

Mat salleh style: lumba lumba, rubiah tirta

Google search these names and you'll get their contacts

My previous two times was with Quiver on Perhentian Kecil... Larger boat but also difficult to climb back into as u have to climb over the ladder and move into the boat with your gear.. I always worry about falling down with my wet booties touching the floor...

They have a whole big deck for gearing up and their team is quite ok.. mostly matsallehs who sometimes seems cold though.. but I dont complain much.. As long as they give priority to safety I am ok.

Are you going alone or you are going with friends??

If you doing your confine/course here

Advantage of Taking OW in the city
- You might not have to pay for single occupancy (if you are alone)
- You have plenty of time to read/study/exam
- You don't need to pay more for extra dive eg : confined lesson (so air buffet)
- You don't have to do your swimming test in open sea (some might be rough)
- You will feel more comfortable water before you heading to island (so safety first)
- You will learn more stuff here. (instead of compact everything within 4 days)
- You can always buy/get anything you think you need (if you dont feel comfortable with their eq)
- You will always entitle to special discount price for trips/equipment

can you recommend any1 that doing this with perhentian as the open water course. ( i only came across those with tioman as the open water place). thx

I did mine with Quiver in Perhentian. Call them up tell them u wana do OW course with them and then ask if they can get u instructor to do the confined in KL. I did that and the KL instructor gave me the option of doing it at diver's den or in cheras pool. Just find out where u wana go first.

hello,

I am planning to do my open water license.
I got a quote to do a 4d/3n include accom in pulau tenggol for RM1.6k. Is that reasonable?
Just wondering where could i get it done at a reasonable price?

Any promo in MIDE 2013?
Thanks
*
Different people have different definitions of reasonable. Whats your definition of reasonable? (Price for Certification with quality of resort, whether got food or not..) it all depends.. But go MIDE that should be your benchmark, if you cant go, then have a look see here I think some have posted pics of the prices.. but I guess you definitely wont get that price after MIDE so just keep it as a reference.. Hope this helps...
