I think the moment we asked if there were any discounts because we would consider getting extra stuff if there is any discount, the attitude changed. You can tell nicely if you don't offer such plans. This is called negotiation skill.
Anyway, maybe we are planktons and not some highly priced fish to be their concern anyway.

Well, I actually didn't do any research on this as my friends arranged everything. Frankly, I joined because my friends asked me, as a "super on" guy, then I joined.

We took it at the B&J Dive Centre in Salang Beach, Tioman. 7 of us were divided into two groups, where 4 ladies were coached by a French lady instructor, Isabelle who just joined B&J for few months while another 3 guys were under Adam.

The ladies said Isabelle was impatient in giving them skills training, some of them were scolded and it did affect their mood. All of them were so unhappy about her and thought of giving her bad review in trip advisor etc. 1 of my friends even thought of giving up as she were too nervous in the water and couldn't breathe steadily in the water. But after that Isabelle gave my friend 1 to 1 training for boat dive and she gained back her confidence(they were attacked by a trigger fish during that dive). We concluded that actually Isabelle is just being strict and serious in the skills training and I think the ladies are ok with her afterwards.

While for the guys, Adam is a nice & experienced instructor. But maybe he is too experienced, he finished all the skills training very fast and even skipped some skills training. Every time we went into the water after the ladies and came out before them.

During the boat dive, what we, the guys saw were quite common actually. only turtle is worth talking about. While for the ladies, they managed to see turtles, a stingray and a few cuttlefish. That's the time when we thought Isabelle wasn't that bad.

It's definitely a good experience and we did had a good time there. It's great to have foreign instructors and I think I will go back to B&J for fun dives too.

I was trained by Isabelle one on one. Yes she was strict but she definitely knows her stuffs. I think she just wants her students to seriously know their skills because anything less might affect your diving experience or even *choi* take your life away underwater. As relaxing as it could be, diving is still a risky sports.

My friend and I really enjoyed diving with her. She is also as experienced, know the places well and was very eager to show us many things during our dives. One time, she even dragged me into a cave just to show me a huge puffer fish! (I was very terrified but since she was always on the look-out for me, I trusted her) and she found many nudibranches - REALLY tiny but beautiful.

I went with other dive masters before and honestly, diving with Isabelle, we discovered more things as she was enthusiastic in looking for wonderful things to show us. I really enjoyed my dive with B&J. Awesome people!

My friend went night diving with her, it was an unforgettable experience for her too! She seems to know right where to look for all the rare living things underwater. And not only that, she is a great underwater photographer and generously gave a good lesson to my friend (advanced diver) on how to take underwater photos. She even helped to fine tune my friend's diving technique. All in all, she really knows her stuff; definitely someone you can depend on when you are in the water. 

I guess at the end of the day, sometimes it's not about the instructors being good or bad... it could be the affinity or chemistry between you and them doing their works.

Yes, I agreed with your view on how spearfishing can be illegal in some marine protected island. Only spearfishing for fish tagging is legal. What I meant by 'disgrace' was for those who dive and spearfishing for killing purpose. There are such activities going on in Malaysia.

I am against this kind of spearfishing as I am a practitioner of 'catch and release' to preserve endangered marine species.

I hope I have correct things here and I would like to apologize again for my mistake.
