Good day mates...hope everyone is doing great! I'm looking for an external hard disk for my desk top. Just want it to function as a backup for my PC. Anyone here knows exactly or approximately how much does it cost?? Let say....for a 120GB memory or 160GB with casing? Any ideas? please advice. Need your expertise here. If anyone of you are planning to sell one, do inform me. Of course, I'm looking for a new one and not used or second hand model. Thanks .

Thanks for the useful info....really appreciate your help.....but how much does it costs for a HDD and what is its minimum storage capacity? I'm terribly sorry as I'm not a techno geek. No idea about all the IT stuff. So...Goliath...are you saying that I should get that errr....USB/ Adapter as well to transfer files from my PC to the HDD?? Thanks again.

minimum storage space could go as low as 20GB. it is up to your budget as well as how much hd space you need in future. as for the cost, the pricelist could be downloaded from the from page of LowYat.net. well, it is not a must to follow my option. there are plenty of options as well. this one of the cheapest (maybe it is the cheapest) way to do it. if you bring your HDD out often, maybe you should consider of getting a casing for protection

How bout those from Maxtor? It comes bundled together with the casing and power supply making it look sleek. 200GB going for RM388 and 100GB going for RM288. Is it worth it?

I don't think external hdd could be used on PPCs or PDAs. For small external hdd, there are quite few brands out there. Since you want small and handy, you might want to look at 2.5" hdd (also known as notebook hdd). Price could be more expensive comapre to that of desktop hdd. So be prepared for it.

I suggest you to get the 2.5' HDD and a casing (or one that comes with the casing itself) because pairing up a 3.5'/casing is extremely bulky. Kinda defeats the purpose of having a mobile lappie imo. And I think the 2.5' HDD can run without an external power supply adaptor, correct me if I'm wrong, so you won't have cables messing up your deskspace. EDIT: Oh, my 3.5' HDD in casing runs extremely hot (it's a Maxtor 30gig). I'm not sure if it's an isolated case, but if not then better get a 2.5'. As I've mentioned in another thread, you can fry an egg on it This post has been edited by Wolfgard: Apr 7 2006, 01:36 PM

ish...RM1K? But a 2.5" eh? *Drools*....
I think I will settle for the Maxtor 200GB this coming PC-Fair. Hopefully its cheaper that RM388.
