Your brother 2nd gen SPR need to serve NS right? I thought after u serve NS then Malaysia government will ask u to gtfo off to SG? Or is that only for SC/SPR couples whose kids can choose to hold MY or SG passport hmm.gif
One word of advice if you decide to bring your wife over: do not budget your expenditure on the assumption that she will get a job within a few months. When my fiancee came over with me, we assumed she would get a job easily so we went ahead to rent an whole HDB on the assumption of having two incomes. Let's just say that it took her longer than anticipated to get a job and in that period of waiting it was ... tight.

Having said that, while waiting for a proper job your wife can sort of work (those unskilled jobs presumably) on a dependent pass using a Letter of Consent from MOM:

http://www.mom.gov.sg/pass-navigator/forei...-full-time.aspx

This option wasn't available to my fiancee and I (at the time) cos not merrid means she was holding visit pass.
*
Thanks again for the tips. Yupe that was on my head without thinking properly after going more and more research on the rental cost. I have to face the reality, there is no way i can afford a unit until both of us got the job. Just on my pay, we might be able to stay alive in SG but if she can get any job then we can save some money to get the unit after few year down the road. hmm.gif or PR maybe.. blush.gif

If I want to draw money from an ATM must I cross over to JB to do so if I have Malaysian Maybank / CIMB? Can I draw over here with my Malaysian account?
*
you are in luck. I just ask this from the bank just now. For Maybank, you can use your ATM and withdraw from Singapore ATM machine. Each withdraw depending on what you set the limit on your ATM card. For example if you per day withdraw is 2k (RM) then you will have max of SGD 800, base on 2.5 exchange rate. The exchange rate will be base on the daily currency exchange rate.

However you are can't bank in money from Singapore Maybank cash deposit machine. You have to go to the teller to do it. And each time there is a RM25-27 charges for each transaction.

Thanks for the tips ill look into bedok, i did the math i think taking abit more time to get to the city is better then paying an extra 200-300 dollars in rent,  my main few factors are that i want to be able to cook and not have the owner there dictate what i should or should not do.

Looking around the sites i can only find mostly Condo's that have that kind of flexibility which is paramount to how i want to live. But the come at a steep cost, i guess it boils down to savings vs freedom, i have to spend more time looking for the right place or couple or right places then  make time to view them.

I hate that listings have very little or no info as well as terrible pictures.

Anyone else come across problems like this?
*
Yupe got what you are saying. What we want to see are the room how big and what is in the room but instead got what is outside that building. blink.gif Yup is all about whether you want freedom or saving. Can't get both. Anyway good luck to all of us are looking for place to stay in SG smile.gif

- M1 has plans for Iphone and BlackBerry only.
- Singtel has quite a few phones but not BTC Butterfly.
- Starhub do have the HTC Butterfly but it's not under SmartSurf plan.

*Actually i'm looking @ HTC Butterfly with plan.

Hi All,

Just want to say something after reading the recent post from everyone. Everyone will have differences view in everything. We might think that is good and we are offerring our suggestion to someone. However, maybe we didn't get the whole story?? Anyway still what you all saying i also agree, if we keep comparing with other as use this as a motivation then this is a good push for us to move forward. However if we set our mind set as this is not possible or any negative reason then to me is quite hard we can achieve anything in life.

Thanks to all Sifu. Yup just saw the reply they rejected my wife application because no English Cert provided. Manage to find out if we go to the Govt certificate, they can print in English. If everything is up to date i can get the same day. They claims is RM4. So hopefully is true then i can resubmit on Monday.

Just in case, small update for everyone who want to apply DP. I just got back my marriage Cert in English and the cost is RM10. So anyone next time , can just go to Govt department and ask them to print out in English. If all details are updated, you can get within 10 min.

All Sifu,

My wife is trying to find a job in SG since I will be working there. Already trying to look and apply for some job online but anyone know whether your company is hiring as well?

She doesn't have degree just diploma in LCCI but she has been working as a HR Executive for almost 12-13 year. So i would say she should be more easy to look for HR and Admin line right?

Please advice. Thank you.

Morning and noon still ok. Let's see if you can cross the borders < 2 or 3 hours tonight and tomorrow.
fongwan Sg Government take copyright infringement pretty seriously. Well if you get caught you could always tell the officer(s) that cless^alvein from LowYat says it's perfectly ok and will not subject to check.
Thanks for the reply basically my rig is not those high end rig, just don't want to waste money to buy another machine when I already have one back home. Basically that computer mainly is for web surfing and FB. Of coz watch movie.

If i bring my rig meaning i need to show them the reciept.. hmm.gif So if i were to bring my rig and just buy the OS from Singapore is that ok or i should just forget it and buy another rig in SG hmm.gif

Anyone comment please?

Just bring it in lah. Customs can of course choose to detain you and ask you to boot up etc... but the question you need to ask is "why would they do that?" Do you look like a pornographer, pirate or paedophile? And if you were trying to smuggle contrabrand into Singapore... why would you bring an entire rig, instead of just a hard drive or a memory card?

So... just bring it in. If you don't have any enemies who would give customs a tip that you are one of the 3Ps... you will just be regarded as someone bringing in their personal belongings.

To be on the safe side... pull a fuse or take out the power supply. Want to boot up also cannot.

Haha thanks for the tips. Actually mainly is the movie i want to bring over to watch . All those drama download haven't got time to watch. blush.gif Also at least something for mywife to watch before she can find a job.

Another silly question, i know the speed in SG are fast. How about download, can we download or PPS. Coz don't think i can afford to keep going to theather.
Anyway can share on this ? whistling.gif
