Thanks for the reply basically my rig is not those high end rig, just don't want to waste money to buy another machine when I already have one back home. Basically that computer mainly is for web surfing and FB. Of coz watch movie.

If i bring my rig meaning i need to show them the reciept.. hmm.gif  So if i were to bring my rig and just buy the OS from Singapore is that ok or i should just forget it and buy another rig in SG hmm.gif

Anyone comment please?

Just bring to SG to save money, then buy the OS from SG lo if you feel guilty. Should not be a problem unless some people here report to ICA and they start to track and target you at the custom. There are so many pirated software going in and out of Singapore everyday. Apps, music, movies, OS, programs in phones, mp3 players, tablets, laptops...

Anyone got experience applying MY's credit card or loan using SG's pay slip and income tax statement? Which bank is good for cash back, petrol and grocery. Thanks!

Do something to your interest with money that is not so bad. Cycles come and go. Hard to achieve something if keep switching following behind the cycles.

Got offered a 5k RM job + allowance (should not be that high, few hundred maybe) in Sabah recently, doing the same kind of job now but with a lower position. According to some friends there, the pay already above market rate in Sabah.

Want to ask, Malaysia system a bit different? EPF = CPF, then got one more call Socso, and the tax is every month deduction? So after all those, would get around 4k?

I am on a one week home, one week SG working schedule now. But I think this can't work out in the long term, say few years down the road. Still prefer more time back home.

Advantage - more time with family and financee.
Disadvantage - pay cut and starting from the bottom of career again.

For those that come to SG to work with a previous job in Malaysia, if given similar situation, will you consider to go back?

Socso is like Medishild or something, it's insurance. But very little benefits wan..can just ignore it.

The tax deduction is PCB, Potongan Cukai Berbayar. U kena potong every month so u dun have to pay that much in the end or u can even claim back some money.

5k salary, i think take back home money should have more than 4k la....

Thanks for the info. Feel like stranger in my own country. Everything also new. Still trying to apply MY credit card with my SG pay slip but no reply so far.

yup, i am doing this now, down graded and return to malaysia, only going back to singapore office when there is a meeting.....but i got more time to spend with my family....

Family life vs. money... Tough choice... Still considering...

QUOTE(seantang @ May 13 2013, 08:49 PM)
I couldn't do it. The money and job opportunities here are just to good to pass up. I would have never gotten the same opportunities back in Malaysia. Money can't buy a lot of things but there are also a lot of things that only money can buy. Until today I regret not coming to SG earlier.

But that's not too say I won't consider going back. But I won't go back of I am not in a position to go back and work for fun, or not work at all.
*
Ya the money here is too good... Job opportunities and exposure also different. Even the salary figure can't match in SG and hometown, not yet consider the exchange rate. Really don't know how the people survive with local salary. One meal in kopitiam cost around 6-8 rm. Salary only few 3-4k rm... Stronghold of the government, still sleeping. My DUN and parliment won by PR, should be not having much development this 5 years...

Have to see step walk step now.

Hi... anyone can suggest which mobile broadband plan to subscribe in SGP?... The room I rented do not have wifi...
Seems like all service provider do have data limit... sleep.gif
*
You don't have any choice now. The old plan is unlimited for Starhub and M1, 50GB for Singtel and same price as the new one. But now only 4 - 10 GB?

Same situation with you. I using the Singtel 50GB from the old contract. But the network a bit cock up. No line at my home in the morning during the weekdays, but my office which is 5 minute walk from my house can have full download rate. Night time at my place is OK. Calling CSO is useless, they just bring you around the bushes without any solution. If you apply for a 2 year contract then you are done for. I used all 3 telco mobile broandband but still found that Singtel has the highest speed and most stable. The uploading speed and coverage is important when uploading few hundred MB of files to office or client, a matter of 20-30 minutes vs few hours...

QUOTE(seantang @ May 13 2013, 11:55 PM)
That's the trend with mobile data plans these days. You have no choice if you're looking for a new plan.

I still use a 50GB mobile broadband plan from Singtel which I simply continue and not re-contract since years ago.

Same with my 12GB iPhone voice+data plan. Won't re-contract when the contract expires.
*
But lost the benefit of getting a new phone or tablet for recontracting cry.gif Got my iPad from the mobile broadband but don't want to recontract due to the lower limit now.

Given the same price figure with MY and SG, Singapore actually cheaper. I applied a Maxis broadband to check email in the airport, 50 RM only give 2 GB, and the phone that come with the contract only cheaper by 200 RM.

QUOTE(deodorant @ May 14 2013, 08:30 AM)
Do you even use that much though? I recontracted my 12gb to 4gb the other day after reviewing my monthly data usage which never exceeded 2gb a month.
*
Singtel saying very few people using over 2GB is cheating, think they lower the data limit so less people downloading and make the 4G network faster. I always use until 49.XX GB and have to stop using it before my new quota come in next month. My phone data also near to the limit every month.

I just wait for it to auto upgrade because I don't re-contract... my mobile broadband was the cheapest 384kb 50GB plan years ago... $19.90 per month IIRC with free 3G USB modem. Then it auto upgrade at no extra charge to 1mb because 1mb was the slowest. Later auto upgrade to 2mb. For more than a year now, I can consistently get 4mb dl speed although nobody sent me anything to say my plan was upgraded. So must have auto upgraded again. Still paying $19.90 a month.
*
Cheap, I was paying 19.90 then upgrade to 7.2 mpbs and paying 39.90 because of the iPad promotion 2-3 years ago, now out of contract still 39.90, Singtel no free lunch eh earn back later.

They took away the old phone plan also, my first plan itwo plus, free 700 minutes for around 80 sgd but now no more. The new plan free minutes so little.

One work pass and two visit pass revoked. The one with work pass revoked has been warned in the 1st gathering but still participate in the 2nd one. SG already give chance.

Hero for sacrificing for the country or not wise for participating that is up to your own view. Most of us here went back for voting, not wise for wasting money? I think otherwise.

Those of u working in Singapore. Are you guys rich yet? Do you feel rich?
*
What's your point?

QUOTE(robertchoo @ May 20 2013, 07:34 PM)
Actually i've been thinking alot about this.
Working and living in SG (esp if you earn roughly the same in SG as in M'sia, dollar to dollar) does not make u richer.
You will be maybe slightly better than in Malaysia as the cost of living in SG is cheaper, offset by the expensive property and car.
I certainly did not feel rich at all when i earn and spend in SG.
Further i feel SG has reached the peak with its limited resources (plus now they are seriously cutting their only revenue generatorand unique selling point : human resources). Going forward, they will need to find something to set them apart from the rest of the world, a "thing" I just can't think of. And education in SG, although good, cost a bomb too. Esp if you want to get into "good" schools.
*
The best school here is free if you are the best, not like MY, although I don't think the fees are expensive compare to other place.

i dun get OT.....
plus, i dun like OT. Rather spend my time with quality stuff.
money isn't everything

7 days a week of OT in construction can hit 10k+. But health go down exponentially, then spend 20k later for doctor visit.
