It would seem the Beta Test hit somewhat of a brick wall last week when i got an email from someone who goes by the name Strizzt that the BolehBlogs! name is in conflict with blog rings project located at http://bolehblogs.insatiably.net/.

Matter of fact is i have scoured the local blogging scene for sometime never knowing about the existence of such a blog ring, and the bolehblogs name was conjured up after about 6 hours of fiddling around with a domain name creation tool. BolehBlogs was basically one of the few usable selection the thing threw up that was not taken. Registered and done, wp Wordpress up and running, i ran bolehblogs through google, and through enough, Strizzt's page appeared, and was a bit shocked, but didn't give it too much thought as it was entirely on a different domain.

However, the email came along towards the second week of testing, and in a proper sense, i was inclined to let Strizzit keep the bolehblogs name, while we shift to something else. Then i hit another brick wall because i just could not find any other proper domain name to use!

So we're down to this. Can we find another domain name, that would be usable?
If yes, please put your suggestions down here.

If not

I'm not sure how long the insatiably.net bolehblogs project is going to be or where it is headed, but my take on it is that a blog ring is just not going to cut it in an age where Digg and other Web 2.0 applications are taking flight. Both sites are indeed targetted at the blogging community, and therefore I would prefer the local blogging community to decide on whether we should get a different name, or stick with BolehBlogs.com.

I agree with LYNblog. Or yesblog if we don't mind it being corny.
If sticking with bolehblogs might cause legal issues, then I think lets just change it.

what is beringin? .. beringin is called banyan tree in english.. I think the charasteristic of the tree is perfect for this project

someone suggested JomBlog, i kinda like that name but nonmalaysian might get confused with Joomla in which u guys are actually using wordpress.

anyway another suggestion is beringin.net , i kinda like the idea of not having the word BLOG at the end of everything.

JomBlog is cool. it's somehow reflects the 'bahasa melayu bahasa kebangsaan' campaign going on (remeber sureheboh? it's name changed to JomHeboh)

and not having a 'blog' in everything is cool too, altho i don't know if beringin is the right word for it (i first imagined it was a site with info on trees - or it's like a holiday resort name) hehe. anyway i like your definitions on beringin, the meaning itself will justified the name (lol @ 8. profit!! xD)

so my choice would be jomblog / berigin for now (more towards jomblog)

The only concern with that is it might seem to be a blog base for Lowyat members only, not for everyone. And the Lowyat name seems to indicate 'technology' which will scare some people off. Wanna know why we don't get many girls at Lowyat.NET?

frankly for me beringin does have it catchy concept but yes it does sound something that got to do with enviromental thingy, maybe forummers can suggest other words besides beringin and do not have the word blog in it like tulis.net (registered) taip.net or perhaps catat.net (rhyme with cacat tho) or maybe combine the word LYN with other things like jomlyn.net (sounded like a girl's name) or maybe lynboleh or lynkini.net.

but if there is a poll...maybe im contradicting myself but ill vote for jomblog. kudos to the person who suggested it. : )

blog.lowyat.net would means the username will be at the end, and be a somewhat lowyat members blog. Blogsentral (formerly bolehblogs) is targetted at bloggers in general.

Blogcentral.com is a registered domain since 2002. Just because there isn't a website doesn't means its available

90% of the term blog(s) with a common word is taken up, usually registered by domain squatters and sold of for insane prices if someone wants it.

..is they say, dependant on factors of the domain name, the title, the heading tags, the markup in your website, the content... and etc. it's not just all about linkings anymore.

and soon, from what i heard..Google might be introducing a new process of ranking websites. a rumour has it that the older websites still being updated will be given a higher ranking now. but all this will be revealed in due time I suppose.
