QUOTE(KrisMas @ Mar 18 2013, 02:56 PM) You could also try to consider CarPro ReLoad.... that's like name tag on facebook larJust a normal glass coat...not a permanent type of coating....sorry but can't disclose (though somehow quite a few ppl knows already)... But I think I can tell you what I've tried: AQuartz, CQuartz, OptiCoat (1st version), GZox RGC, RainAway (samples), ArtDeShine (samples), 22ple, also a few samples of prototypes that didn't make it into the market..... Hey...how did you do that? I mean putting my nick in that squarish box thingy...???? What does it suppose to do? [ @ name ] without the space of course like this oh, how is 22ple? this is a singaporean product right? is it expensive to coat using this? QUOTE(KrisMas @ Mar 18 2013, 04:07 PM) Of all the products, you HAVE to ask about this one eh??? I wonder why..... because it is most memorable with its coating drying into a hard clear thing at the bottom once exposed to airNot sure how much la. I'm a cheapskate so I just buy stuffs and do myself, although it's cheaper (?) this way but a lot more tiring (but compensated by the satisfactions). I only know of a couple (?) of places doing this locally...maybe around 2k or so, and that's a BIG maybe. On its own, maybe can last a couple of months or so. Can also be diluted or 'wax-on-wet' as they say, for topping up once in a while. if u know what i'm saying, else just forget about it haha 2k???? can repaint already |

QUOTE(KrisMas @ Mar 18 2013, 04:41 PM) Tell me about it...the main 'excuse' for DIY. Anyway, when a place use the word 'coating', you're already looking at four figure man...it's the most hot selling word right now....hehehe.... tell me about it.repaint vs coating.....here come that conundrum again.... I think UQD would spoil it...that thing got quite a strong cleaner in it. Haven't tried that one before though...just my presumptions based on what UQD can do to other waxes/sealants. I bought a few stuffs from them before, including my CQuartz and a couple of bottles of ReLoad (to name a few....heheh). I can't say I would vouch for him but I had known the owner for quite a few years already and met him personally on a number of occasions. You can COD with him cuz he's around Klang Valley. Doesn't seem to have ReLoad in stock though..... There is another place that I found in fb...sort of the 'Authorised' CarPro dealer...but the page is quite dormat....I think they're based in Penang.... i'm still old fashioned sticking to my trusty old M21 2.0 + UQW i want to try glass coating though but can't afford it no matter how i skin the cat |

QUOTE(KrisMas @ Mar 18 2013, 05:16 PM) Don't get me wrong....waxes/sealants are still cool and I still like them very much. Maybe I'll re-visit when the kids are all grown up and can take care of themselves. Anyway, also feeling some 'lazybones' slowly developing.....hahahaha..... i still have some M83 and M80 left but no rotary (my dumb B&D KP600 isn't powderful enough lol) or DA to do anythingsee when i have the money then i invest in a el-cheapo DA |

QUOTE(mav3rick @ Mar 18 2013, 05:45 PM) ehehe.. what's ur verdict on CQuartz? maybe i can get that and use Reload as a topper can't recommend as i think its quite expensiveyeap.. main reason my home minister is frowning on my new hobby is because she thinks i should be spending more time with my kids (one 2.5 years old, and another 4 month old). any cheapo DA to recommend? the cheapest i can find also close to RM800 there's the bosch 270ae or something. i wonder if anyone has it? |

sifu sekalian, my 2 years old car is already beginning to show its scratches and what not...
its a deep electric blue (aurora blue - ford).. i was wondering if i could remove them by hand (since i do not have a machine and nobody i knows has one) are these steps ok? 1. wash with normal wash (turtle wax F21) 2. claybar 3. ScratchX with foam applicator (or MF better?) 4. Polish with M80 with foam applicator (or MF better?) 5. Wash down with Ultimate Wash and Wax (or normal F21 better?) 6. Seal with M21 2.0 (again, which applicator is best?) 7. Wax needed? if yes i only have GC Liquid Wax 8. Ultimate Quik Wax spray and wipe (this step needed?) thank you so so much!!! these better or just send to detailers? |

QUOTE(ChiaKhai @ Jul 4 2013, 05:22 PM) scratchX is meant for point correction isnt it? or you are just correcting some parts of the car only and not the entire car itself yup all by hand... of course with rest in between the sessions haha so many steps using hand? wow! I hand polish only (wash+polish) last time and after that I cant feel my hands correct, to correct all the scratches... and to correct the whole car too! besides the scratchX which must be done with "passssssion", i think the rest are pretty soft and relaxing |

QUOTE(Quazacolt @ Jul 4 2013, 08:17 PM) for the most part ok oh that's amazing.. but i don't have IPA.. so i'll just comment on what that isn't covered by grexer 5) save the wash and wax for normal maintenance since as grexer said, you'll want a surface free of polymers/wax from what wash&wax will provide. additionally you can consider an IPA wipe down prior to your sealant. (F21 does have glossing agents/polymers too iinm) 7) not specifically needed, however if you layer your wax (again as grexer mentioned, wax over sealants/coatings) it'll have much better depth/gloss/shine/smoothness 8) not needed if you layer with wax already, however for maintenance, it can be a good topper/ease on drying as mentioned as well. but of course, if you do have the time, you can apply it ANYWAYS and it'll be a good additional layer/barrier before nature/our shitty polluted environment starts attacking your wax (and eventually the sealant underneath) if you maintain weekly wash and wax/quik wax topper etc, i think it'll take a DAMN LONG WHILE before you need to reapply the wax/sealant thank you so much! |

QUOTE(KrisMas @ Jul 9 2013, 08:58 PM) Pads, compound, polishes, microfiber cloths, etc....what car(s) ah? bookmarked this post! amazing advice KrisMasBasically you'd need compunding/cutting pads (min 2 nos) to go with a compound - e.g. Lake Country 5.5" yellow/orange pad with Megs Ultimate Compound. Then polishing pads (min 2 nos) to go with a polish - e.g. LC 5.5" white with Megs Ultimate Polish. Then a finishing pad for light polishing/AIO/sealant/etc. Also don't forget to get a few microfiber cloths (at least 3, but the more the better) for buffing off the compond/polish/sealant. I would advice to get 2 pads if you intend to do the whole car or even half a car since the pad would become caked up with compound/polish and would need to be washed after a couple of panels. But if you intend to do one or two panel per session, then one of each would be enough. simple and concise... might go get it since detailing by myself is much more fulfilling somehow update: let's say i get the Bosch ROB. besides the pads, do i need adaptors or anything of that sort? QUOTE(KrisMas @ Jul 10 2013, 04:49 PM) Two different machines...a rotary vs a random orbital machine...one 'spin' and the other just 'jiggles'. which do you recommend as a basic starter kit for me? just want to remove swirls! http://www.autogeek.net/griots-garage-pain...ection-kit.html buying from here ok? QUOTE(YoNgZ @ Jul 10 2013, 10:56 PM) I get all my cutting, polishing, finishing pads from Osren @ RM45/pcs. U can try their pads if u wan =D ooh... 45/pcs so 4 at RM180QUOTE(GRexer @ Jul 10 2013, 11:15 PM) alexng2208, do note that buying from Autogeek means you're getting a 110/115V rated machine unless otherwise stated, which is incompatible with local supply of 230V unless you get a step-up transformer. Maybe you could use it as a guide on what to get, there's plenty of machine choices locally these days. oh no what local machines do you recommend that is a good value buy? |

QUOTE(GRexer @ Jul 11 2013, 11:50 AM) You really need to set a workable "all-in" budget with what you already have then maybe can advice a little. Local machines can range from RM300+ to RM2k+ so it's a little hard to advice. Also, not forgetting you need pads to work the machine. Stick with 5.5" pads if you're using a DA for more efficiency. since i have M80 and M83 and scores of MF clothesi would want to spend no more than 500 on tools + pads is that remotely possible? anyone has a second hand Bosch they are willing to part with after upgrading to a full rotary? or someone has old pads they want to sell off cheap? |

QUOTE(GRexer @ Jul 11 2013, 08:12 PM) Well.. No more than RM500 for tools and pads, I guess, you could make do with a new Bosch GEX125AE(which is around RM350), and 1 light cutting and a 2 polishing pads. Will have to hand apply any LSP. GEX sounds good! RM345 + 10 for shipping from JB.. maybe Home Fix has it too! I don't mind LSP by hand anyways. And pads from Osren 45 a piece sounds ok too.Don't think you could manage to get tool and pad under 500, even if you resort to getting the one from Alibaba, you'll still need proper pads instead of those that's bundled along. mav3rick, a "much better" tool that had been gathering dust as I don't have much free time detailing wise at the moment. QUOTE(KrisMas @ Jul 11 2013, 08:50 PM) Hrrmmm...don't know if m83 & m80 can do much with the Bosch rob. Haven't used those two in a while. You can borrow mine to have a go with them first before deciding. You'd lend me your ROB? >.< i'm thoroughly pleased! QUOTE(GRexer @ Jul 11 2013, 09:20 PM) Well, If he didn't had the M80/M83 already, I would really think that Ultimate Compound with Duragloss #501 should be good enough, saves a step too. Ultimate Compound? Megs right? hehe... its the Compound that is good for light compounding and polishing right? all in one kinda thing... duragloss is LSP? |
