btw how hot can the modem get...haha

it's not that much a matter of how hot but the matter of it not functioning properly after you leave it on for long time. Conclusions is that it will have problem when the chips are too hot. Since I leave my modem on 24/7, definitely will have problems. I find that almost all modems have similar problems.

It's crazy hot. The Broadcom chip, the big black 1 in the pix, I can't even keep my finger on it. It's that hot. The modem is on all day long but I don't BT yet it get's so hot. Even with the huge CM heatsink on it, still hot. I dunno if it's just mine. Y don't u try opening ure up n tell us if urs is hot too?

don't know about you guys, but my aztech has been running at home fore more than2 years dee. 24/7 BT(mom gets annoyed everytime she looks at the electric bill). no problem with the adsl modem but got plenty of problem with tmnuts. i place my modem on the icy floor so there is no heat issue. I think it depends on what chip you're using la.

atmost there, how did you managed to power up the fan? external ac adapter?

We've got an old 200W PSU which we use for all sorts of stuff as well as to test our mods. So the fan's hooked up to it. Unless we know which volatage to tap from since the AC adapter takes in about 18v, a bit too high for any fan

i also have a ZTE modem from streamyx,

since i was so annoyed because of the heat it produces...

i just took the cover off and put a 80mm fan to cool it...

by taking the cover off, did i void the warranty from TMnut ??

my Zte modem looks exactly like that in the first post....

My ZTE modem already comes with 2 heat sinks. I guess the manufacturer knew about this and then added into later models. But it still is too hot. After few days it will cause problems.

I was thinking of opening the cover also but is afraid of accidently shorting or something. BTW, where did you get the power for your FAN? wire go back into casing?

No improvement 1 lar. It's just that if it's cooler then for sure will last longer.
