Hi bro, I'm planning to charity somewhere that week. But why you plan to do on 24th April 2013? Any special events going on?

My suggestion is, try moving it to a weekend so that more people of the working adults class are able to join in the good cause..

Great kakaakajes! Okay, first of all we need to identify the orphanage and contact them to know what are their needs.

I am proposing it on the 20th April 2013. We have about one month from now to start planning and make it a successful event.
(I know the date cannot be fit for everyone but if you really wish to join but not able to, you may also contribute by passing the stuffs you bought to others who are attending)

P/S: I suggest to open a new topic by this weekend if T/S is still not replying. As his tittle and date there is misleading (If we are really changing to a weekend date).

Venue: Where are all of you located? KL? PJ? Will try to narrow down a few orphanages around the areas we are closest to...
Contributions: I dont think it will be a issue, but as a precaution, i'll just try ask the orphanages if there are any concerns about us (ie strangers) providing food for them. also, i think if anyone has old clothes/books/toys, i think we can also bring down?

Lastly, please feel free to spread the message on your signatures, or to your friends/family etc.

Just my 2 cents from my past experience, normally when we have identified the homes, we contact them to get a list of what is needed most as all the homes have different needs to cater different group of people (Eg: adults, kids, babies)

If some are interested in providing drinks / foods, we should be asking permission in advance to do so.

Yes we can try to gather old clothes, books, toys from friends and families.

just wanted to highlight this; I hope i didnt offend anyone or sound like Im ranting about it.

I'd emailed one of the orphanges that I read on one of the threads who needed help - Stepping Stones, and they replied "We are glad to hear of your offer , however, we do not have the time to accept/slot in your visit to our home."

I didnt even put in a specified time/date, I just said we can provide some bought/homemade food and some services (haircuts, painting walls etc).

Honestly I am a bit appalled, but I suppose they need money (cash) more.

Perhaps we can go back to the same shelter that LazyKurosaki went to?

I was also wondering if it's convenient/suitable to bring my dog along... You know how pets can help cheer people up? I was hoping we can do that in malaysia, but also need to consider whether these homes allow. I dont mind just sitting outside with my dog, and wait for willing kids to come out and pet/play with him. Because honestly, Im not a great communicator with little kids, so having a pet there can help open me (and them) up

hmm nop i didnt go over~ the time i donate those sweets for them only as i have activities the day.. so 2 days earlier prepare them.. heard that they are happy for it =)
