I know your desperate feeling to play with the new toy. Me too last time before I got my Intel imac in early March after a month of waiting, bought from Macasia (One Utama). I would tell that the waiting is worth it. Its fantastic machine indeed.

Enjoy your turn. thumbup.gif

Not really, I think it probably means Malaysia has to wait for Singapore to release stocks to them... afterall, from what I hear Apple Singapore has Apple Malaysia by it's balls. Do anything they don't like and they'll squeeze it... something like that.

hey guys,if you plan to upgrade from g4/5 to intel based please read this review before switchingyou might want to stick back to your current g4/5

http://www.macworld.com/2006/01/features/i...est1/index1.php

get a mac intel , if your into gaming purposes and using those i watever software out there.
if your doing graphic designing, word processing (using microsoft), the intel mac is not for you, you might probably have to wait till the universal version is realeased. Under rosetta, these software are runing merely half of the speed the g4/5 achieved.

Downside: Because of the switch to a different processor architecture, Apple needs to use a program called Rosetta to translate Mac applications that haven't been programmed to run on an Intel-based chip. The Tiger operating system and all of its bundled apps have already been ported over to run natively on the Core Duo, and Apple says that many other programs are ready to go. But the transition is not complete. During his Macworld address, Apple CEO Steve Jobs showed a new iMac Core Duo running Photoshop with a little difficulty. "Performance is not going to be strong enough for professionals that spend hours a day in Photoshop," he said. Adobe won't comment on when its Universal version of Photoshop will hit, other than to acknowledge that the software is in the works. A Microsoft product manager made an appearance at Mr. Jobs's keynote, affirming Microsoft's commitment to a timely transition, as well. We expect other developers are similarly onboard.

log files can be manually purged (if you know where to find them), or they can be automatically deleted with one or more tweaks from a third-party software...

I imported my iMac Core Duo 17" from Hong Kong when I went there for holiday earlier this month... They were having a HKD1,000 rebate (that's approx RM486) or free 1GB RAM promotion. Retail price after conversion to MYR is approx RM5,000. I chosed the free 1GB RAM, traded in back the included 512MB RAM and upgraded to max 2GB for a total price of RM5,768. I think that's a really good deal. So far, very happy with my iMac... Early adopter may have to wait for more software to be Universal Binary to emerge...

RM5,768 for an iMac 17" with 2GB RAM... I believe you can get reasonably cheap one at the PC Fair... You could get a RM608 rebate off the M'sia retail price RM5,299. Maybe they offer 512MB trade in for the included Ram as well?

As for what I think about this Mac, I don't think it's good... It's brilliant, superb...etc... Very fast indeed with Universal Binary applications/softwares that runs natively... The screen could really blow your brains out! I've used it for 15 days now and so far, no problem with Sleeping, Keyboard/Mouse inactivity or Fan Noise as reported in the Apple Forum by some of the users in the west...

That's exactly what I meant... Thanks Eithanius! I believe "good" is an understatement for apple... I'd say Windows XP is merely good...

Terrible/Crap
Bad/Lowsy
Not Bad/Worth a look

The Core Duo is very stable, for my usage, so far. smile.gif I must stress that Core Duo only support properly written softwares for OS X. It's a pity for those who wanted Core Duo while still need to use previous Mac OS apps i.e. OS 9 apps. Of course, Universal/Binary Apps will run seemlessly on both PPC and Intel Mac but Rosetta technology is there, in the Intel Mac, to run previous softwares for OS X that were written solely for the PPC processor. However, there are exceptions, there are applications that Rosetta cannot run. Check out this link:

Yes, it should come with a Tiger OSX cd (dvd to be precise) that is native to your machine only. Meaning it doesn't ship with the retail one.

It also comes with manuals and other stuffs...., something like this....
