The 314.21 beta driver totally solved all my hair-ripping-out-of-my-skull angst about Tomb Raider 2013. Finished the first run with tessellation and TressFX off since it'll crash the game back to desktop. With 314.21, I get to the previous two crash spots without crashing and the game ran beautifully, WITH tesselation on, Ultra shadow ON, and TressFX ON! Thank you so much, Nvidia! Maybe I can do a second run of the game now.
And not to mention framerates back up to tolerable levels now. Previously was spiking up and down too much, not smooth. 2560x1440 Everything MAX, Ultra shadows, Tesselation and Tress FX ON. ![]() This post has been edited by stringfellow: Mar 17 2013, 01:24 AM |

690 at home, 680M at work. Had to pare down expectations though, from 1440p on home rig to 1080p on RS-15. Hopefully, with the increased pixel density of laptop screens, I could get away with 1080p at lower settings without much IQ loss.
That FaceWorks demo is interesting, but I say I've seen, relatively, the same quality on Psycho's face on Crysis 3 at Max Out settings. Compared to that crappy face demo on PS4 reveal, however...... This post has been edited by stringfellow: Mar 22 2013, 03:30 AM |

I've been walking around LYP looking for SLI connector for sale. Where can I get one? Otherwise it's a single Titan only for me.

QUOTE(jimmylim85 @ Mar 30 2013, 08:23 PM) Q9550 with GTX260+ in which I'm planing to sell in a cpu unit. So that means I have to buy a motherboard to get an SLI connector? Leadtek GTX 670 @ rm 1049 best value money can buy. If other brands you end up with GTX 660Ti at best. Usually is provided by motherboard These two will only works on its own without an SLI connector. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « This post has been edited by stringfellow: Mar 30 2013, 08:26 PM |

Nope. 1000W should be plenty. Not planning to overclock.

Yup notice on first initial run the fps is low. Enabled SLI and ran it again for that score.

Compiling 3DMark scores now. There's currently a glitch on 3DMark13 that lowers Fire Strike score due to a Windows KB update. 3DMark 11 runs fine.

![]() compared to 690 last time: » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « And now, the very reason why these Titans are bought: making Crysis 3 my b****. Testing now. Crysis 3, max everything at 2560x1440 V-Sync off: SMAA MGPU2X - 60-70fps! MSAA 8X - 35-50fps! Crysis 3 conquered! Testing 2033 now. This post has been edited by stringfellow: Mar 31 2013, 02:30 AM |

Looking at the next evolution in display, I'm monitoring with interest the release date of the Sharp 32" IGZO 4K monitor, priced at USD5500 to exercise my two Titans a bit.
Here's how gaming fares at 4K(3840x2160) resolution:- http://www.brightsideofnews.com/news/2013/...early-2013.aspx ![]() And that is on a single Titan. http://www.brightsideofnews.com/news/2012/...d-shootout.aspx That 6GB memory buffer starts showings its usefulness once you go 4K. |

QUOTE(diadokmai @ Apr 3 2013, 10:46 AM) It's priced, but not out yet. I'm waiting for it to reach retail stores before taking the plunge. It's out on Sharp UK webpage, so it shouldn't take long. http://www.sharp.co.uk/cps/rde/xchg/gb/hs....PNK321H&cat=110 |

QUOTE(diadokmai @ Apr 3 2013, 05:24 PM) Bro.. i said in term of card size/performance bro haha. If you're going for single card solution, the 690 is still king, compared to Titan, assuming you're gaming at 1080p. Only thing is, with the 690, hot air is vented back into the case, instead of through the vents out back, since one of the exhaust ports is directed back into the case. Titan is cooler though, with the way GPU Boost 2 sets power and temp targets when overclocking.1 gtx680 also much more bigger than 1 titan. for sure 2-sli gtx680 can beats up that titan lo. my case i said it worth since im not using sli board..haha only got 1 pci-e. I wish I can move on to current CPU architechture, like you're on, but I think there's still life in the i7 980X I'm currently using. 3 years and still running. Hopefully no bottleneck. I''ll be choosing my words carefully here, got silent gossiping audience, in FB. Buy stuff for my own need also people wanna gossip. This post has been edited by stringfellow: Apr 3 2013, 08:53 PM |

QUOTE(marfccy @ Apr 3 2013, 10:22 PM) Just buy 4.0GHz OC only. The BIOS, being Alienware, has restrictive stepped OC in 300Mhz increments. Now at it's max at 4Ghz, up from 3.3Ghz stock. I hope that doesn't bottleneck though. if its well justified expenditure, its definitely worth it despite other people 'gossiping' but anyway, im pretty sure youre OCing the 1st gen i7 right? then most bottlenecks should be eliminated As for "just buy", I need to think of a proper build. 3770K or 3930K? |

QUOTE(marfccy @ Apr 3 2013, 11:18 PM) 4.0GHz is pretty good imo. even my i5 3.3GHz is great enough (though diff architecture Which is why I think there is still life in my current CPU. Looking at this http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/cpu-cha...od%5B5747%5D=on and this http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/cpu-cha...ark11,3157.html, I'm only missing 200+ points on 3DMark11 on stock when compared the 980X and the 3770K. 3770K is like the basic mainstream consumer i7, good for quite heavy CPU work and heavy gaming. getting the LGA2011 socket proc usually doesnt justify its price (as both mobo and proc=RM3k edi I'm currently intrigued to see if I can build anything closely resembling Falcon Northwest Tiki, with Titan in there in a size that's pretty compact. Can put this in the living room, without guests asking what's that hairdryer sound they're hearing. |

This link agrees with you. http://hexus.net/tech/reviews/graphics/396...beasttm/?page=3i7 3770K @ RM 999 vs i7 3930K RM 1799 Z77 mobo RM 389 vs X79 RM 799 Dual channel ram vs Quad channel Btw back to the main topic, I want to know how does stock setting reference board of GTX 670 in SLi mode performs? Read some review it performance close to GTX 690 or otherwise on par. Care to elaborate more? |
