i can see htc one+ incoming.
htc got everything right, BUT, 4mp is simply too small. when zoomed in, the pixels look blotched and patchy..

they should've gone for moderate sized pixels, around 1.4~1.6 microns and opt for a 6mp shooter. that fixes all issues..

right now the only issue with the cam is sharpness..

I think 4MP is enough. It's save storage space.

Tell me why you want a DSLR 24MP pics? In the end, you are just going to upload to FB and use it to send whatapps only most of the time.
Even sending whatapps, the photos will be compressed into 2MP from your 13MP before sending out.
Tell me, are you going to zoom your friends photos in FB?

The most important is the quality of the pic taken.

You are not going to perform advertising, marketing, promotion artworks which requires 18MP to 24MP.

bro, dslr sensors are like few inches thick. let me give u a visual representation of the sensor sizes.

user posted image

dslr cameras cannot be compared to phone cameras because, their sensor are worlds apart. with that sensor size, capturing small megapixels will cause the image to look very crammed. and the sensor that size cane asily accomodate up to 30 mps of pictures.

so your point is not valid.

2 : yes facebook rescales them, but i dont store my photos online. and i believe alot of photography enthusiasts prefer to print / render their photos in fullhd (or even more) to be used as wallpapers / cover art/ etc. how are you going to paste a photo titled : NATURE HD(example) but your picture isnt sharp?

my point is, htc gave up on mp war. that is right, but the downsizing they took is too big, even at 0% zoom, i can see that the ip5 camera is sharper.

From the examples you quoted, there isn't any samples that once you zoom the photo, it is not clear.
So, why make judgement so early?

And of course, the most important thing is I dont think HTC will release a camera that capture a pic that is totally a crap when zooming when they really depends on this phone to recover their company's fortunes that dipped terribly in 2012.
That's why I say Smartphone CPU is not the same as Laptop CPU.
Laptop have heatsinks, Smartphone got???

Here's my concern regarding HTC One's camera:

http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/features/it...hallenge-HT.php
*
i found out that alot of reviewers who tend lean more towards nokia and / or samsung / apple always upscale / downscale photos of the htc one to 8 mps.

if you upscale then it's already an unfair comparison because you're not viewing the photos at their native reso. It's the same thing all over when u downscale a 8mp picture to 4mp. logically, the 8mp will be sharper of course since it's native 8mp not 4mp.

i kinda find photos upscaled and downscaled are very bad way to review a photo quality. by right, quality should be measured in color , exposure , contrast etc. not by scaling. zoom yes, but keep the native resolutions.

ya 4mp is one of the issue for the ONE, but for me i think it is no problem, just train your skill in "FRAMING"  laugh.gif

that's all.  whistling.gif  (similar like you use DSLR with prime lens)
*
4mp is enough. unless u do print out your photo at full frame size

By no means a photographer. But I believe you do need a certain mp to maintain image sharpness, no?
*
like i said, nobody views their photos at 100% zoom, nor 200%.
they just snap , upload to instagram or facebook.

if you're gonna bring photography enthusiasts / professionals into the picture, they have their dslr for that job.
zooming at 100% is only an excuse to say that 4mp is bad compared to 8mp.

no no.. main factor for sharpness is the quality of the lens... High megapixel = bigger size picture.. it could be a soft large size picture.. but it doesnt contribute to sharpness...here the lens plays a significant role.
*
actually megapixels do play a part in photo sharpness.. when zoomed in that is

So displaying those pics on big hi-res monitor or tv screen will show no difference at all to naked eyes? If so, then HTC did the right thing. So increasing the mp on cameraphone is basically useless?
*
how high res are your monitors?
4mp is rated at 2568 x 1568. any higher resolutions will be needing dual monitor setups and 4k tvs.

unless if everyone can afford dual monitor setups and 4k tvs, then i will gladly back off

people want the best out of everything on their phone because they do not like to carry extra weight around .. eg : battery packs, handheld camera, mp3 players, etc..

likewise you cant satisfy everyone. Stick to the majority will be the best choice.
*
sticking to the majority will turn you into an "unsmart" consumer.
reminds me of a survey i attended few days back.

7 people (including me) are required to give their thoughts on samsung and apple. why choose apple over samsung vice versa. i own a htc, but i borrowed my friend's s3 just to get in (and for the pay rm 180) brows.gif

some of them were asked, why apple over samsung?

guess what they answered.

1 : because.. err.. apple lor. famous mah
2 : because android lags lor
3 : err.. because apple phone design nice lor
4 : (the most retarded answer of all) my whole family use apple

shocking.gif shakehead.gif

so surveyor asked, why android lag? can give input? and have you used any android phones before?

answer : idk lorh.. android is laggy lorh.. i think android bad compare to ios... ya.. my mom galaxy y.. it lags lor.. my iphone 3gs also not that laggy...

i.. were going to bash them real hard. but instead i kept my cool and just sneered

for older people.. however i am very . very in love with activator. somehow i feel that there is a need for activator to be ported to android.

no bass, but its a diff story when u plug in earphones.
the front speakers are stereo, and much much more crisper and clear and loud compared to conventional mono speakers on today's smartphones
