Quick question:

Any drop test videos for this phone yet? Torn between the Z and this phone, but I am prone to dropping my phone. A LOT. I've seen videos of the Z being tossed about, and even uncle benny (iirc it's him) have tried doing his own drop test. Phone still very much alive.

The Zoe feature really excites me as the integration is very well done. However, I don't want a phone that will die on me after a few drops. Unlike some people here, paying 2k+ on a gadget on a constant basis isn't justifiable to me...So I'd like a phone that is robust.

I digress. Apologies. Drop test - could anyone point me to a review that incorporates this? I've tried googling around, but get mostly One X and whatever other iterations of the One.

Would greatly appreciate some help in this department smile.gif

TL;DR

Any links to drop test video?
Anyone personally knows how durable this phone is?

Thanks
marquis

dun have yet as i know. Shall wait for it. Meanwhile, Why u no put casing for ur phone? tongue.gif

I gotta admit HTC Zoe is excited me especially I use it for travel and celebrate friends birthday wink.gif
*
Well, if I'm gonna be using a phone as beautiful as this (or the Z), I'd rather go naked (the phone I mean, not me laugh.gif ). Besides, the only case available for the One now is not very...pretty.

HTC really outdid themselves this time round with the whole Zoe thing. Learning from Apple I must say. What made apple such a good experience is how they integrate everything together. Huge problem is for people that like to customize...well Apple thinks for you instead of letting you think for yourself.

Jumping ship. No more stupid iOS for me.

ONE just release to blogger/ reviewer yesterday only, wont have so fast got drop test i guess  tongue.gif

that's why now when you google you will find all unboxing video for that
*
Ah. That explains why most the videos are just first looks. I like both the Z and One...but I'm afraid of the One's built quality - it is metal after all. If it can take the punishing like the Z, I'm sold biggrin.gif

OT: I notice a lot of people don't multiquote in the phone thread - is it some unwritten rule now? Coz I see old members doing it too sweat.gif

Maybe you should check back HTC legendary phone, HTC Legend to check the durability tongue.gif It using aluminum too.

But I hope the body paint wun come out like iPhone 5 when get scratch.
*
Thanks for the info. Just watched a video of this due throwing the phone like it's a 3210. Epic. Phone still alive too. Not to worried about scratches since I'll probably skin it...just not with an ultraman skin like Agito laugh.gif

no multiquote stack in 1 post in default setting already

even you see the picture in reply thread will auto strink into smaller size

and this is random thought for me haha, feel want get/ do this sticker for ONE if i got silver lolz

user posted image

M7 = star cluster name, ultraman homeland is M-78
*
Nono. I didn't mean when someone re-quotes you. I see a lot of people replying quotes from different people, one by one, instead of doing a multiquote in one post. Just baffled sweat.gif

If I do get the One, that's what I intend to do - skin it. That way, my phone would be proper personalised. Heh.

Assuming you know who is Lord Denning. You should live up more to his name smile.gif

Do some research online on the toughness of the HTC ONE's build quality. Most if not all reviewers who complained about the iphone 5's aluminium being scratched easily were also worried about the same issue when they received the HTC ONE. They however, have found that the HTC ONE is much much more resistant to scratches and scuffs as compared to the iphone 5. One reviewer even went to the extent of banging his test unit on the table the moment he unboxed his HTC ONE. The result was that it looks and sounds solid.

The chamfered edges on the iphone 5 was also an issue. But again, most reviewers if not all, have mentioned that the chamfered edges on the HTC ONE looks and feels to be of a more robust design and construct.

So there you have it smile.gif

btw - I know how fragile the iphone 5 is. My friend was so excited about her iphone 5 but it...... BENT within 2 weeks of usage. She complained and got a new replacement unit, and is currently happy about her iphone 5 smile.gif

Hello there smile.gif

Mind sharing a link to that video? I've been trying to look for a drop/knock test for the One to no avail. If the One can take a beating just like the Z, then I'm sold. Otherwise...I guess it's bye bye Zoe for me sad.gif

most people defend their own perspective/taste endlessly. while i wait for good info/ feedback float up, so right now i just skip all reading in SIV first. and XZ roughly read a while. not worth my time to read.
*
The prob in the XZ thread is a lot of people ask the same question over and over again. Some don't ever bother searching the thread. Heck, some don't even bother googling FFS sweat.gif

I've been following both the Z and One's thread. Catching up on the Z can be tiring...especially if all you read are idiotic comments.

always best go and try and judge yourself.
Dislike argue over subjective matter. There will be no winner smile.gif

Play with Xperia Z last week at Sony roadshow in 1U and I know regardless I pick Xperia Z or HTC One, I will be happy with it. But HTC One won me over coz Zoe features  sweat.gif
*
My sentiments exactly. I'm just waiting for someone to conduct a proper drop test. I like how they both look. I like both phones. The deal breaker will be how hardy the One is. The Z has proven itself. If the One is anywhere near the Legend, then I'll have a though time deciding.

Speaking of Zoe, does anyone know how much space it'll consume for one "shot"? By shot, I mean the Zoe feature - short clip, photos and whatever else. Lol

Z thread already delete from my bookmark. Now only at this One thread, sometimes look around S 4, off course still at S III, I still using it. Hehe...
*
I still lurk there as I hope to learn something new...Just damn mafan to read through everything sweat.gif

QUOTE(jloi @ Mar 19 2013, 11:53 AM)
I remember I read somewhere review the Zoe features shoot 5fps. so there will be 15 shot in d 3 sec zoe. Wonder how big. Probably 5-6mb if they compressed it.
*
Hmm...That would easily take up space huh? I wonder if we could program an NFC tag to perform a computer transfer/backup of photos. That'd be interesting.

Also, does anyone know if there is an accessory for the One that enables it for wireless charging?

QUOTE(Agito666 @ Mar 19 2013, 11:55 AM)
i still watching Z, but not read much, skip a lot. last sunday brought my bro go test Z, but i duno andriod works, i just feel UI is very boring for sony hahha ><
perfer HTC sense 5 UI yet, from video.  sweat.gif

duno i afraid ZOE will consume a lot spacae, but then it can disable haha biggrin.gif
i want blink feed only tongue.gif

now wait for ONE demo unit drool.gif
*
I'm actually ok with the Z UI. Of course the Sense 5 feels more...snippy. Though I think if you were to mod the UI on the Z (like the moderator with the Ironman wallie did), it'll look quite dashing.

My main reason for considering the One is the Zoe feature...coupled with the design of course. I just need someone to do a bloody drop test already! sad.gif

On a sidenote, isn't there an app that's similar to blinkfeed? Forgot the name...flip or something along those lines.

Most of us will be waiting for the drop tests to find that out smile.gif

In short: Be very careful with your phone. For me, I never use cases for my phones at all. I always love them naked. Cases defeats the purpose of having a a beautifully designed phone for the sake of protection. So I always try my best to handle my phone with utmost care and i've never dropped my phone to the extent something is damaged before. But of course, we are humans, carelessness is bound to happen to someone somewhere.
*
You and I both man. I'm drifting back and forth between this and the Z. Cases are fine if it accentuates the design of the phone. However, whatever that's been posted here so far leaves...much to be desired.

With regards to the drop test, if you searched on video youtube, don't bother with the idiot that claims to do a drop test on the One but is actually using the Nexus.

Got my bloody hopes up it did shakehead.gif

EDIT: meant to say "searched for a video on youtube" but the mind wandered while I typed laugh.gif

it should be better or at least on par with Legend  flex.gif

If it's on par with the Legend, then there's hope for HTC yet. That dude literally threw and tossed the phone. Not just drop. Damn laugh.gif

This doesn't make decision making any easier. Sigh.

Seems we have some unofficial drop test already (Not by purpose mind you laugh.gif)

As suspected, metal body not the best when the phone decides to do a leap of faith onto the pavement/road.

Take a look at this!

Those that are insistent on the One, I guess you might either want to get a case, or to keep it nude, get a skin sweat.gif

Shame though. Such a brilliant phone. Can't have the cake and eat it I guess laugh.gif

Step 1. Get a time machine
Step 2. Go forward in time to buy
Step 3. Profit!

Or you could have just googled it. Dear lord. Why is everyone like this nowadays?

It's not released yet, so you can't get one yet in Malaysia.

EDIT: Here, Click on this

Key words used "htc one release date malaysia"

the post count not even exist 2500 why open new thread?

by the way joytest you slow poke, yesterday got people post the news tongue.gif
*
Not 2500 yet, but for the las few pages people keep on asking the same question repeatedly - might as well start a new one with most of the info on the first page...provided these people read it.

I have half a mind to just unsubscribe, but then I might not get the latest news laugh.gif

On a side note, the latest drop test quite...scary. Provided the phone doesn't drop on the screen, the body is quite robust. Shame it can best the Z though.

I've read on XDA that the Zoe feature is tied in to the hardware. Person wasn't sure though and no one else replied to confirm/disprove. Anyone knows? The Zoe feature is the only reason I would be interested in this phone tbh. Coupled with the ultrapixel thingy of course.

Unless of course they decide to release an HTC One II/One+ or whatever their naming convention might be. That'd be awesome biggrin.gif

I tod zoe is something to do with the imaging processing in HTC One? So yea hardware.
But my engineering gf told me is Software imaging processing, not hardware. So i dunno lol

QUOTE(Agito666 @ Mar 29 2013, 02:41 PM)
i first time to hear this kind of thing like ZOE that is tied on hardware  shocking.gif
*
Logically, it should be software. Unless they tie it in to hardware so deep, making a port near impossible without a complete source code.

The only thing I can think off the top of my head where hardware is concerned is the sensor used in the One. As it is, there are no working Zoe ports yet. I think benny-kor mentioned wifey is running sense 5 but Zoe is not working. Even googling around says the same. Although I have read a working Zoe is promised in the near future.

Who knows how well that would run though.

So, if anyone could share if the Zoe is portable, or if there is a similar post-processing app, it'd be brilliant smile.gif
