Sehhneiser and goldring have some good headphone. Although intended for audiophile, it is good for gaming as well. Look for wallabies for consultation

Goldring seems to be more favored when it comes to soundstage but that's not my personal experience but readings from over the net.

*Inb4 someone says Razer*

Anyways, SteelSeries Siberia or any SS headphones are good and reasonable~~ With that budget you are having I dont think there is any big deal getting any SS headphones

actually Roccat Kave also not bad, just that u'll need a really good or decent sound card for it to shine. Some sound card cannot utilize it's bass so u can't feel the bass vibrating

You know, as a gamer that only uses headphones (i have no speakers).

I can only advice you that in terms of headsets or headphones, you should concentrate on this important features before you make your purchase.

Comfort > Sound > Mic > warranty and support > everything else.

Without comfort, you will never enjoy your listening experience, without good sound quality, you will never hear anything nice, without good mic, you can never be heard properly. Mic is always below sound quality because you will be listening 95% of the time and only talking 5%. Comfort is 100% of the time you are putting on your headphone. Warranty I've included is for peace of mind for the price you pay, and support like after warranty servicing is for the longevity of your headphones.

Everything else from disco lights, nice gamer designs, 10.1 surround sound, AWESOME gun sounds etc are just fluff.

For RM500, I suggest add a bit more and get an Audio Technica (AT) headphone.

reviving old thread to ask similar question...

any good recommendation for surround sound gaming headset? how does a surround sound gaming headset rival those 7.1 speakers? for e.g. logitech? does it give that surround sound feel? meaning i can hear bullets flying from left to right...footsteps coming from the back....

wanna change my PC sound system to headset as my future gaming room doesn't seems to have enough space to to allocate for a 5.1/7.1 speakers...

There is no 'true' surround sound then it comes to headphones. It is simulated.
That said, it does come close to what a 7.1 sounds like, with a bit of hit and miss.

If you're buying a audiophile grade headset, I would suggest you drop by the Audiophile section of the forums.
For a gaming/audio set, you can give the Logitech G930 a try. It does simulate that 7.1 surround sound that you are looking for, it has an inbuilt mic and as an added bonus is wireless. As a gaming set, I would say the sound quality between wired and wireless is indistinguishable for the majority of gaming users.

The reviews on it are pretty good and it is available at lowyat.

Hi. I would like to ask if the creative 3d sigma and the kingston hyperx cloud makes it as the best "budget value" headset? Im trying to keep things cheap, and preferably dull looking as i dont want people to stare at what im using so im not going forbthe fancy colourful ones or with the bling bling like creative 3d wrath or the higher end Razers.

if its even possible i'll like to keep it below rm200/300 without headset, or unless the microphone that comes along with it is podcast quality (a must since i work in a fairly noisy and cramped environment so active noice cancelling on microphone is a must.
