If a company pays late, would the yearly dividend be calculated on the whole annual amount of that year plus the current balance or only what is bank in at that time?

Example,

Jan & Feb, paid in Mar
Mar & Apr, paid in May
May & Jun paid in Jul
Jul & Aug paid in Sept
Sept & Oct paid in Nov
Nov & Dec haven't bank in until today.

So will the divided be applied to the whole sum of that year

Let's say annually $10k

As per attachment, keeping it simple, if dividend is 6%, therefore, 6% / 12 mths = 0.005 or 0.5% per mth

Did I get the calculation correct?

I also can't seem to find EPF email to ask them this. Anyone have it?

It's pro rated and calculated on daily basis. If it's simple calculation  as yours, every body would rush to deposit lump sum in December to enjoy the dividend in two months time. Try calculate 100% * 6% for January deposit, then 11/12*100%*6% for February,10/12*100%*6% for March and onwards. You have to consider the money need to be deposited for one whole year to get full dividend.

Trying out your formula, I ended up getting 1,809.86

My formula below,

[Number of days in account] / 365 * 6% * [Current balance]

My 2 cents as below ...

[attachmentid=9577391]

** interest is not compounded monthly. Compounded only yearly.
** I assume you deposit on the first day of the month. Interest is on daily basis.

Can share your formula, thanks!

My apology, it's been quite some time I made the calculation. Provided you with the wrong formula.
My formula might not be 100% correct but quite close to the final amount credited by EPF. Please remove the '100%'
from the formula I gave you. Apology for any wrong information. Just trying to contribute.
Other forummers may correct my post for further clarity and  share more knowledge about the calculation. Thanks.

No worries... as you said, we are all just trying to help one another. cheers.gif

I managed to get a reply from EPF concerning the formula. Below is their reply,

Pengiraan dividen untuk bulan Januari

Akaun 1
[(Baki pembuka Akaun 1 x Bil. hari dalam bulan) + (Caruman bulanan semasa x 1 hari)] x Kadar Dividen / 365 hari setahun

Akaun 2
[(Baki pembuka Akaun 2 x Bil. hari dalam bulan) + (Caruman bulanan x 1 hari)] x Kadar Dividen / 365 hari setahun

Pengiraan dividen untuk bulan Februari hingga Disember (berdasarkan bilangan hari setiap bulan)

Akaun 1
[((Baki pembuka Akaun 1 + Semua caruman bulanan sebelumnya) x Bil. Hari dalam bulan) + (Caruman bulanan semasa x 1 hari)] x Kadar Dividend / 365 hari setahun

Akaun 2
[((Baki pembuka Akaun 2 + Semua caruman bulanan sebelumnya) x Bil. Hari dalam bulan) + (Caruman bulanan semasa x 1 hari)] x Kadar Dividend / 365 hari setahun

how is the dividend calculated? I multiply each month's baki by 6.9% and divide by 12, sum up the 12 months and the calculated value is less than the payout? The calculated true dividend rate more like 6.64%. Are there any hidden fee that I did not account for?
