QUOTE(gashout @ May 21 2024, 09:40 AM) singapore CFP system is one of the top in the world.. https://www.straitstimes.com/business/singa...ia-mercer-indexSINGAPORE - Singapore’s Central Provident Fund (CPF) has retained its top spot in Asia, according to an annual global index. It is also the only Asian pension system among the top 10 globally in the 15th edition of the Mercer CFA Institute Global Pension Index released on Wednesday. Cpf return rate much lower than EPF.

QUOTE(coolguy_0925 @ Jun 28 2024, 11:54 PM) inb4 EPF 5% is rubbish & MYR is forever depreciating lah  Taking into consideration that your capital is well preserved and zero risk, average for 5.5% every year is not bad at all for me. Provided u don't have a dream of migrating and living in Western countries and aim for retirement in Malaysia (ya myr sucks) This post has been edited by sp3d2: Jun 29 2024, 08:35 AM

QUOTE(cherroy @ May 21 2024, 10:55 AM) Please back to the topic. EPF vs CPF comparison is out of topic already, and can be done by creating a newer topic for it. This thread is about EPF dividend and EPF matter only. Thank you for the cooperation. hi Mod. can you monitor this thread and make sure the topic is about EPF and not about comparing what is better than EPF. This is to make sure this thread is informative with relevant to EPF only.

if you look at vanguard retirement fund ETF for those that is already retired. it is around 70% bond and 30% equity.
but for those far away from retirement, their retirement fund ETF set by vanguard consist of 90% equity and 10% bond.
so if Malaysia EPF too aggressive investing in equity, expecting some years of bad return and some years of very good return which is not suitable for expected stable return of retirement fund.

average annualized KLCI index return since its inception in 1982 is at just 3.4% per year.
i seriously have a strong doubt EPF is going to perform better when the focus is shift into local equity......

QUOTE(cckkpr @ Aug 14 2024, 01:51 PM) Cannot compare with annualized KLCI index. EPF also trade heavily on the local market. And the hot market is good for them. They are big enough to move certain counters either way. The annualized return since 1982 is giving some idea on what is to be expected from our local bourse.

QUOTE(gashout @ Aug 21 2024, 08:44 AM) once you have 1 mil by the age of 40, and not contributing more, it will be 2.6/2.7 mil by the age of 65 = 13k/ month passive. 1 mil as soon as possible is the game to play! rest is bonus. 2.6 million at the the age of 65 is equivalent to 1 million at the age of 40

QUOTE(gashout @ Aug 21 2024, 11:31 AM) damn, you make me feel poooor actually im wrong. i recalculate, assuming 1 million at 40, then next 25 years at the age of 65, considering average inflation at 2.5% per year, 1 million at 40 is equivalent to 1.85 million at 65.

QUOTE(batman1172 @ Aug 21 2024, 01:04 PM) You sure inflation is 2.5% yearly average? Like that epf dividend is 5.5%. Real gain is 3% so your capital last forever Average inflation at 2.5 is for the last 30 years if I'm not mistaken. Or maybe 2.8 like that I forgot. QUOTE(Wedchar2912 @ Aug 21 2024, 01:23 PM) oooo... that means if have 10 million at age 40, one just need to make sure one's networth at age 65 is above 26 million to keep the same standard of wealth... any extra just spend spend spend... It means, if u have 1 million at 40 yo, to maintain the same purchasing power at 65 like how you are at 40 yo , you need to have 1.85 million at 65. This is with the assumption of yearly inflation at 2.5%. if inflation higher, you need higher at 65 yo ah.

QUOTE(Cubalagi @ Aug 21 2024, 03:11 PM) To address the inflation impact on retirement savings, my plan is to work part-time a couple of years after retirement. Something more flexible with far less hours. This gig will enable me to withdraw a smaller percentage from the dividends and allow for the balance to continue to compound. And if lucky, my part-time gig might even still pay epf. Only later on in life can withdraw dividends fully and, on even later years, take out even the principal. Combined with future tongkats, hopefully funds can last until the end. i like your part time idea after retirement. thanks for the sharing. EPF savings is not to make me rich also, more like to "cukup makan" sahaja and to survive my old age.
