Just submitted all my documents. Let's see if they approve me this time. Got rejected last year but didn't bother to appeal. Can't wait to cut off my CIMB. The only reason I am keeping it till now is coz of the generous CL. It is now collecting dust after Maybank upgraded my CL for my Maybankard 2. I need the OCBC Ti for my weekdays expenses and also as a backup card

ocbc platinum is good or not ? compare with titanium?
*
If you travel a lot then the free entry to Plaza Premium Lounge for Plat is a good benefit. Otherwise in other aspects the Titanium is much better

My agent informed me that if successful, the card won't be couriered to me. Instead I need to come to the branch to collect. And guest what, I am in Bintulu and the nearest branch is in Miri. 200++ kms away. Walauweh. This is officially my worst experience ever in applying cards!

Checked via the IVR, it says that the card is under processing. That means my application is successful right?

Is that address monitored? I need to send my appeal. Got rejected again. Sigh. I think I'll try UOB after this.

Hi guys,

There is a Term found of the Product Disclosure Sheet which I don't understand,

Finance Charges
13.5% p.a. for cardmembers with prompt payments for 12 consecutive months.
16% p.a  so on and so on.
What does this mean? I don't get it at all.  rclxub.gif
*
Your interest rate on your balance (assuming you have unpaid balance) will be 13.5% if you have no late payments for 12 consecutive months.

Wanna share my timeline here if any of you are close to giving up on applying. My last application was last year and it got rejected. Did not appeal. This year I decided to apply again.

2/9: Filled up their online form
4/9: got a call from one of their agents and email.
5/9: Sent the form and the supporting docs via email.
13/9: Verification call (Yup, it took them that long. I had to email my agent to ask)
23/9: Checked via IVR, found out that I got rejected. Immediately appealed, using the online support form on their website.
27/9: Got another call from them. Telling me that my appeal is under consideration. The agent also asked me whether I am willing to get a lower CL than my other cards since this is an appeal case. Apparently one of the reasons why I got rejected was that MBB and CIMB gave me too high CL. OCBC was kinda scared of my commitments. sweat.gif Told her that the bank can give me whatever CL they want, as long as they approve. I can always ask for CL increase after that.
3/10: At this point I am close to giving up already. But just for the sake of it I checked the IVR again. At first it says unsuccessful. But I stayed on the line. Apparently for appeal cases there will be another one after that. And then I heard the magic word, APPROVED! So now I am happily waiting for my card to arrive. biggrin.gif

Thanks to all the pointers from this thread. biggrin.gif

Just got my Ti. OCBC gave me RM4k. Anybody with a CL lower than me? Haha. Sigh. Quick questions. Do we need to inform them if we go overseas to be able to use the card? And then can we change the billing address and statement date via a phone call? Thanks in advance

That's very low. laugh.gif None of my cards gives that low, even when I just graduated CIMB gave me much more than that. laugh.gif
Anyway, you can always try to request for increase later.

Thanks for reminding me. I have to go to overseas for a job assignment next month, and I will be back in 3 months time... Will definitely give a call to all my banks to inform them. nod.gif

I recalled you said China right? Have fun over there. Do not forget us here while you're having fun over there. laugh.gif
My approval comes after my appeal, so maybe that is why, appeal case. I do recall them asking me if it is ok if they give me a lower CL than my other cards. I said ok as long as they approve. But didnt expect it to be that low though

QUOTE(bearbear @ Oct 11 2013, 07:28 PM)
4k is ok la considering that this card main benefit is the 5% rebate and no points.

just utilize your 5% and spend on other cards.
*
Yup, planning to do just that. Actually 4K is more than enough la, since most of my expenses go to the M2 Amex. That one has good CL. I need the Ti for weekdays, when I maxed the 5% for the Amex and also as a backup MC, in the unlikely event that both my M2 Amex and Visa fail. smile.gif

I would say as long as bank approved my application although only little of CL.

CL can request to be increase from time to time.

I have requested to changed the statement date by phone

Would suggest you to set for SMS alert as well.

Thanks for the confirmation guys. smile.gif

Yeah, a few cases updated here where OCBC may consider if you can accept low CL. This is only happening during appeal session. Anyway, finally you got this card! Good for you. biggrin.gif
*
Yup, happy that I am finally holding the Ti in my hands. Wah so dramatic one. laugh.gif
QUOTE(fruitie @ Oct 11 2013, 08:38 PM)
Does that help?
I didn't know that. hmm.gif
Thanks for enlightening. I thought it is up to the individual bank unless you have any late payment or not a good paymaster in other bank. hmm.gif

mine oso appeal case, i requested for 5k limit in my appeal letter
in the end ocbc gave 10k, still lower than my 2 other cards though (come to thk of it, luckily scb lowered my limit, else no chance of getting approved  laugh.gif )
*
Actually that is one of the reasons why I got rejected in the first place. The agent did not actually make the exact confirmation cooz they cannot reveal it. but she did say that maybe OCBC is kinda spooked by the generosity of MBB and CIMB in regards to the CL that they gave me. Maybe they have some internal method of calculations of income vs CL and see the risk factor that arises from it.

OCBC did not exactly deny about the rumoured 5% rebates cancellation when asked on Facebook. They only mentioned that ample notice will be given should such a move be done.

I have a bad feeling about this.. sad.gif
Their Platinum Card page is also a bit weird now. No more listed free entry into the PPL. The income requirement is also only at RM24K. blink.gif

Standard Chartered Platinum also 24k only. Haha.. Plat card nowadays are the qualification of Classic card in the old days.

Im still holding a HSBC Classic. Haha.. where does it stand now?
*
Well the thing is, minimum for Titanium is RM36K. Plat was RM60K before this, IIRC. So they removed Titanium and lowered the requirements for Plat. Are they getting rid of Titanium altogether?? Or am I overthinking things and that they are just doing some housekeeping on their website? Speculations speculations...
But whatever it is, OCBC is surely up to something this time. In a few days we might know what it is..

You don't see the other CC threads with a template for an appeal in the first post. This is the only thread. Shows you that so many got rejected and appealed. But usually after appeal they will grant you the card, provided you give them good reasons in the appeal. Do update your experience at OCBC later. And if possible try to korek any insiders info about what they are planning to do. tongue.gif
