QUOTE(-Matrix- @ Apr 1 2013, 10:06 AM) Just wanna get opinions from experts - is this a good deal, or merely chicken-feed & should wait for a better promotional deal? Even if 3 months later come out better deal, each month you hold this card already got benefit to you directly in terms of cashback, still want to wait?Cheers ... |

QUOTE(jasontoh @ Jul 30 2013, 11:29 PM) For OCBC cards, not really very useful. But for other bank, sometimes both cards different benefits. For example my colleague just got 2 Maybank2Kard (Platinum and current holder of Gold), been told that RM50 cashback is per card (total RM100). I remember seeing here that's not the case, but that's what the bank told him.... Or having one cash back card and one points-gathering card from same bank. |

QUOTE(LoveMeNot @ Aug 5 2013, 07:38 AM) That means one can only know what's the % like after the card has been swipe. Unless I make a call before the usage itself. They don't have a giant list of all places in Malaysia.... can only know after swipe. Quite rare to have things that are actually within category but different MCC (I think only department shop eateries and Eu Yan Sang type of place). Keep track of this thread will find out one.So what I should do is to just call the CS, tell them the name of the place where the card is use and they'll give me the MCC code? Otherwise, can just assume petrol + dining + bills (except some majlis perbandaran) will be 5% QUOTE(LoveMeNot) Do you budget? If you budget but don't keep track of spending then what's the point? If you don't budget then hope you earn a lot =) |

QUOTE(LoveMeNot @ Aug 5 2013, 08:07 AM) Yeah. I've been checking out this thread just to see what's in and what's out. I've just gotten this card like 3 weeks ago, so still trying to learn the "art" of using it efficiently. To be honest, I don't even know what's MCC code before this. Some finance management software can help, or just use Excel, easiest.Of course I do keep track of my spending. But to do this "put in what u think is 5% and 1% and compare with the rebate when u get the statement. if there's difference, try to move those transactions around until u get it consistent, then u'll know which is which" ---> a little troublesome. But oh well, if I really would want to know, I have to do it somehow. Thanks btw Actually if you're not a big spender (my bill average is about 500-900 each month) then its very easy, maybe less than 20 transactions only. Of those, some are obviously 1%, and since OCBC tells you how much of your rebate is 5% and how much is 1% you can just subtract those from the 1% and see if there's any 'unexpected'. Honestly, for me is free money and I've stopped calculating since doing that a few months. Almost never have any 1% (except for things I know about already). |

QUOTE(David900924 @ Aug 6 2013, 10:55 PM) ![]() How come the staff only call people after 6pm, i thought bank doesnt work that late. got the online forms, but I dont understand how does it hurt my money on 13th month? peeps, what is this mean? What happen at 13th month? so high interest charge on me? Payment on time also will get charge that 15% PA? The pic is talking about what happens if you don't pay in full on time. If 12 months you paid on time but not in full then your interest on 13th month (next year) is 15%. Don't care about all that. Just pay in full on time. Then 0%. |

QUOTE(simplesmile @ Aug 12 2013, 10:02 PM) Anybody knows whether YES (4G Internet) auto-billing qualify for 5% rebate? I would expect this to be under utilities and qualify for 5%. But would just like to confirm before I commit for the long term. Why commit for long term? Can change anytime....Anyway I can confirm that YTL (YES) auto-billing is 5%. |

QUOTE(kazel87 @ Aug 17 2013, 05:31 PM) hi all. new to this thread. just got my first statement. Anything surprising there? I don't understand why you want to post this, as its quite clear that 5% is for food, dining, bills, petrol ONLY and there's no surprises on your list.Just want to share some 1% and 5% merchants (in case not available yet) IKEA (furniture) - 1% Herbaline Lot 10 - 1% AEON Taman Maluri (Household items) - 1% Senjyu Sushi E@Curve - 5% Agoda Hotel Resevation - 1% Unifi (paid through OCBC Online) - 5% The Star newspaper subscription online - 1% |

Thought i posted this yesterday, but don't see it. My wife's OCBC Titanium bill came, when I calculated the cashback I found that two transactions from livingsocial.com (CC bill shows ipay88) were given 5% instead of 1% cashback.
This is not to do with ipay88 as other online shops which use it don't give me 5%. The two coupons I bought, one was for makan (nandos) but the other one was for baby bottles. Surprising that both were given 5%. Anyone got this experience b4? |
