me kiasi so applied via walk-in into their bank ... feel more secure and sure i'm submitting my docs to the bank itself ...

exactly 1-week after submission, someone from the bank called to do some questionaires ...

10-days (according to letter date) after submission, approval letter was sent ...

2-weeks (according to letter date) after submission, card was sent ...

hello all,

it seems having ice-cream at "haagen dazs" klcc is not considered dining hence not entitled to 5% cashback rebate ... anyone encountered similar transaction to confirm this?

i'm seeking clarification from ocbc and hope to hear what they've got to say on this ... if it's not dining, then what should be the category then?

cheers ...

If you followed my post previously, I already reported Haagen-Dazs MCC is under Food Kiosk/store which OCBC does not consider Dining rebate.

I rather use Maybankard 2 AMEX at Haagen-Dazs
*
couldn't remember all the shops ... happened that my sister wanna try the ice-cream after shopping so i thought it should fall under dining since it's, well, sells ice-cream which is not electrical appliance biggrin.gif ...

when you mentioned rather use maybank 2 amex - you're referring to this card giving away 5% cash rebate? or because of 5x points?

cheers ...

Both - 5xTP and 5% rebate (if weekends).
5xTP is better than 1% rebate. I think I saw the calculation before. laugh.gif
*
thanx fruitie ... so, in this case, ocbc is giving out only 1% while maybank gives away 5%? i thought due to the same mcc code, all banks should treat it the same way? or because maybank's special week-end plan where you can enjoy 5% cashback even though you're making down payment for a car or a house, as long as the transaction is made on weekend?

if that's true, then i've to seriously consider getting this maybank 2 amex as 1st card to use during weekend while ocbc as backup up, though i really hate the maybank logo ... hmm.gif

Ah, thank you!

I was just looking at dining under 5%, there's very limited places in Penang that qualifies. Maybe they should expand it to hotel restaurants too.
I'm now starting to assess to see what I can start paying using this CC once I get it so that my RM50 cap will be fulfilled, hehe...

I think Utilities itself will take up a huge chunk, and plus petrol. Is there a max cap for what you can get under a certain category?
If none, then it's a lot easier to manage this card =)
*
if you're ok to spend some minutes checking before dining, perhaps you wanna copy and paste (into your smartphone) the list of places that enable you 5% from the first page of this thread ... then flash yr smartphone and check if they do giveaway 5% ...

it just happened to me - "haagen dazs" does not give you 5% even though you dine at their restaurant because their merchant code does not fall into the category ... but if this it's too troublesome, then don't bother because you're still get 1%, worst case laugh.gif

At a quick glance, seems like most places with 5% are those that I don't patronise, hehe...so it's makes it very easy for me to know what my options are, haha
*
perhaps most of the members here are not penang-lang so the places from penang are limited in the list ... so you can help to update people here after you try spending in penang rclxms.gif

it would be nice if char kuey teow and assam laksa stalls in penang accept credit card drool.gif

Damned, I applied through the branch cuz I thought there's no other promotion! I called up the agent and asked about this because he did not tell me about this on-going promo when I signed up (apparently online promo and in-house are completely different), so the sales agent say he will try to work it out for me (try to slot my entry in). If this doesn't turn out the way it should be, I'm going to file an official complaint.
*
hmm, me abit skeptical that the sales fella would actually do that ... if he /she said cannot, then you may stop him/her from processing and would lose commission ... if i'm too obsess with the samsung, i would directly tell him to stop processing and apply via online ... but that's me being cruel icon_rolleyes.gif

anyone received their RM 30 rebate for June for first time user to pay bills via online ? smile.gif
*
regarding the remaining RM30 cashback - you will get it after 8 - 10 weeks after the promotion ends ... meaning since this RM80 (RM50 + RM30) promotion only ends end-june this year, expect to get it somewhere in SEPT-2013 ... biggrin.gif

Exactly why I didn't want to even bother checking after I did the transaction, lol...RM30, but wait till so long to get it. By the time we get there, it'll be forgotten (for me). So I'm just gonna assume they won't screw it up since it's just a small amount tongue.gif
*
precisely ... actually i've forgotten to include the following - the RM30 is not "guaranteed" but based on first come first serve ... blink.gif

but i suppose they must have thought their titanium is such a privilege that nobody would complain even if they don't get the RM30 rebate ... biggrin.gif

Q1: May i know is that all shop or supermarket which under MCC 5411 will get 5 percent rebate?

Q2: Is that all the restaurant which under MCC5811-5814 can bet 5 percent rebate?

Q3: the rebate is based on the chosen groecry/ restaurant under certain MCC OR all the grocery/ restaurant under certain MCC like the WISE CARD?
*
Q3 - pls note that not all restaurant / dining which you thought so are indeed in the 5% dining category ... example - klcc haagen dazs is NOT even though it's a place where you eat / dine their delicious ice-cream ...

to be sure, copy / paste those 5% dining places (from page 1 of this thread) into your smart-phone and check before you step-in ... brows.gif
