oh? will be rejected if we are too clean? why would they wanna approve if our background is "too dirty" then? Just wanna know-add on knowledge smile.gif
*
Too clean here means there is no history of credit. It does not mean late payment, any penalty, etc. Some banks would like to check on the person's ability (or trend) in making payments on time, no default cases.

Well, currently having house loan and car loan.
Making payment every month, so my record should be OK.
Wondering why they wanna reject me  cry.gif

OCBC is pretty strict. Try to send an appeal letter, refer to page 1.

I really hope its the bank problem.
My profile is quite ok actually...
70k annual income, 2 loans paying smoothly also (maybe the loan just started 2 months ago?)

Just called the Sales Manager that handle my application.
Let's see what he can do for me right now.

The appeal letter is by email or normal mail?
I will send one if the sales manager can't do anything for me.
*
By email will do smile.gif

yesterday submitted the form to modify the sms alert threshold, reduce to RM1.00
how i know it already modified ? yesterday pump petrol got receive sms alert does it means CS changed for me already ? (default is RM500.00 means normal petrol purchase will not trigger)

If you never receive any SMS before, then it could imply that it is already in effect. Monitor the next transaction.

To be honest, I don't quite understand, people here keep saying "OCBC is pretty strict when it comes to card approval". Why are they so strict? Any idea?
No idea. Maybe they just want to reduce the case of defaulters.

Thanks guys for the explaination of the clean records. Most loan and credit card application approval are subjected to your income (of course), commitment and payment history. Too clean (means everytime pay on time) will be rejected. Too dirty (always late payment till few months) also got rejected.

There is strictly assumption but may take into consideration. That's why always apply a very easy to get cc then only u apply the one u wish most. The approval rate is higher.

This is just my experiences. I got sued by cc company (Visa & master) before yet they still approved my ocbc cc and I collected it last week..

I felt those who always let them earn interest more, will get approval easily..haha
*
I disagree on this. There are many who always pay on time and have no problem in getting a card. I don't think this is a proper advice.

Guys, just want to confirm.

Does OCBC send a SMS alert whenever you pump petrol at self service kiosk?

I received SMS twice indicating that I have pumped petrol at two different petrol stations on two independent transactions. Or it's just for the first time at that particular petrol station?

Thank you.
*
Received everytime. OCBC is very reliable with the SMS alert. You have set the trigger amount right?

Nope. Default at RM 500.
*
Oh, in that case I am surprise that you receive the SMS at all since it is only 200/250. Better set it to a lower amount.

How long the payment will be reflected for utilities payment? Gonna be my first time paying to Syabas but I'm not at PJ house now to refer to the bill.

Will be back only tomorrow's night and my deadline is 31st July... sweat.gif

If you pay on the 29th, you will make it.

For OCBC cards, not really very useful.

But for other bank, sometimes both cards different benefits. For example my colleague just got 2 Maybank2Kard (Platinum and current holder of Gold), been told that RM50 cashback is per card (total RM100). I remember seeing here that's not the case, but that's what the bank told him....

Or having one cash back card and one points-gathering card from same bank.
*
That has been proven to be false.

well bro it depends u apply after or before the new guideline being implemented by BNM... if u apply b4 of course how many CC you want also can... but is that a effective way to managed your finances i am not too sure about it lo...

for me i only consolidate to 2 or 3 CC those that meet most of my requirement... I am attracted to ocbc because of the 5% cash back that all...

And i notice bank always call me to get their card n give me freebies such as cash back n bla bla... eg is citibank and scb... i got citibank with cash back of RM500 (forget what promo dy) and scb with cash back of RM600 (to retained customer that has cancel card for less then 12 months) and the customer service have ask me that they will give me another RM300 if I apply for a supplemental...

the lowest is HSBC only RM200 sigh...

The issue here, you mentioned that "for singapore and chinaman bank anything more then 3 CC is directly reject" which is not accurate. Anyway, out of topic already.

NO, the trigger amount set by OCBC is higher than RM10. You can set your own trigger amount. The form can be obtained at 1st post.

This question may sound stupid but I need to know. How do you guys actually know which places offers 1% or 5% cashback? You call the bank and ask? Ask the cashier? Or?
*
No choice but to call CS and ask for the MCC code

That means one can only know what's the % like after the card has been swipe. Unless I make a call before the usage itself.
So what I should do is to just call the CS, tell them the name of the place where the card is use and they'll give me the MCC code?
rclxub.gif pretty troublesome. Do you do that?
*
To be honest, I never call up CS to inquire about the MCC code. I always obtained 5% for dining, utilities and petrols. Only once, I obtained 1% at Aeon Supermarket when I used my card to test it. The rest, just basic Excel to check whether it tally or not.
