PETALING JAYA: The yellow liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinder, which has been a household name for 40 years, will soon find its way to Malaysian homes with a new brand trade name – Mira Gas.
NGC Energy Sdn Bhd, the local unit of Oman-based National Gas Company SAOG (NGC), said in a statement it had completed the final leg of its acquisition of the LPG business and assets from Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn Bhd. The deal is expected to boost the scale and geographic scope of NGC Energy’s operations in Malaysia.
NGC said it planned to supply up to 25,000 tonnes of LPG per month, representing 25% of the LPG business in Malaysia, for domestic and industrial use.
NGC Energy’s immediate goals include installing Malaysia as a hub to grow its business regionally. Plans are also in the works to transform NGC Energy into a public-listed company within four years.
“We are extremely excited in extending a welcome to our Malaysian customers, business partners, and employees to be part of the National Gas Company SAOG of Oman family,” says Goutam Sen, NGC chief executive officer.
