Please tell us what you plan to use it for, otherwise how can anyone tell you whether "izzit pro"?
For general MS Office usage, should be fine.
For gaming, the GPU is old and under-powered for current / more graphic intensive games.
Buy 2nd hand? Check all the components properly
If the battery is still the original, then it is probably dead or going to die soon
If you care to share your budget, maybe some sifus here can suggest other models

erm~basically for gamming, plying some s2 emulators game,doing some programming stuff like andoid development,sql ,java etc..

Are you saying the seller offer the A42J with that spec to you at RM1.5k?

The Intel 320 160G SSD is worth ~ RM260 brand new (from your siggy )
The GPU can handle your S2 emulator.
The CPU can handle your programming.

The caveat is that laptops failure rate increase quite substantially after years of usage

If you really don't want to spend lots of money on new laptop, look at this possible alternative:
Lenovo
G480, i5-3210M + Nvidia GT635M@RM1699, 4GB, 500GB(5400rpm), FreeDOS

If you like Asus, then:
A45VS-VX026H, i5-3210M + Nvidia GT645M@RM2199[2.4kg], 2GB, 500GB, W8

Price is RSP, negotiable.
Swap in your own SSD, should be good to go

Can't consider the A42J as high end any more since the RM2k A45VS outperform it GPU wise
But it is powerful for you, if your hardcore gaming is on S2 emulator

A42-series was the creme of the budget crop offerings 3 years ago.

I still remember my A42JV's price/performance ratio making people with more expensive machines (read Alienware and Sony) weep tears of frustration.

Then again when you think about it, that 1st gen i7 with the HD5730M is still more powerful than most budget laptops you can get around the RM1500 so an upgrade is basically pointless at that price range.

Every now and then, certain models just wipe the floor A42 then, Y580 recently ... Good for bargain hunters

From RM3.3k drop steadily until RM2.4k and stagnated until it got replaced by the Acer TimelineX 4830TG.

The trend is always the Taiwanese/Chinese companies that manage this very well.

Bought it around 3k.
Sold it to my colleague at 2k 2 years ago.
My colleague is still using it though.
Quite a good performer back then.

i think lenovo cant compare with asus, bz the lenovo give so much of problem, that why selling so cheap.

can i know what is ur spec?i5 or i7? gc is what? just now i ply need for speed the run, it can ply this game in maximun configuration, surprise me so much.

Actually that's a bad motto. Longer you wait for the price to drop and then it gets EOL-ed and replaced with something else that's usually worse.
