i'm so sorry i need to ask this again....hopefully someone can update it in the first page or...i dunno...i need to write this done for my future references...
now that my devices has been rooted and unlocked...but still in stock rom...in the future when google release a new update...for me to get the update is by locking it or lock and unroot it as well? and just out of curiousity...even though i havent flash the kernel yet...what if its flash wif other kernel...what's the step to get google latest update once its LIVE? correct me if im wrong - i remember there's this tool @ playstore that allows user to locked it back wifout wiping data...so if i get that...i can safely locked it back and update my N4...then i unlocked it back using that tool....i can do that right? |

QUOTE(polarzbearz @ Feb 11 2013, 06:31 PM) I can answer that one. oohh....i can straight OTA update it even i have root and unlocked it??! I'm on Stock ROM, unlocked (sometimes I lock it back with BootUnlocker [which is the tool you mentioned] which does not wipe data, requires root) and currently on custom kernel (was still on stock kernel few days back) So, if google releases OTA update and you are on stock ROM, unlocked; you can directly update (the second N4 I had on hand did not update to 4.2.1 when I rooted it. I only OTA-update it after I root + unlock my device). As for when you're on custom kernel, I'm not sure if OTA still works but the second-best way I could think of is to flash a stock-reset kernel (to revert back to stock kernel), OTA-update, and re-flash custom kernels. coz i remember someone mentioned it cant be done....but since u've tried it out wif your 2nd N4...i guess its a GREAT news for me then many, many thanks |

err...actually unroot and locked stock rom cant do much compare to rooted and unlocked...and/or especially a custom rom.....and tats the beauty of android...the capability to be able to do so....
if stock rom can do so many things....why the hassle of rooting, unlocking or flashing it in the first place? This post has been edited by karwaidotnet: Feb 13 2013, 07:33 AM |

QUOTE(kopykopy @ Feb 20 2013, 07:15 PM) Sometime between last night and this morning, my 2 week old Nexus 4 died on me. Last night I plugged it in to charge and the normal Time - Date - Charging - Little Padlock screen appears. something similar happened to me tis morning...This morning I went to unplug it and the phone was Off/Dead (which is strange cause why should it be off?). So I pressed the On button but a strange totally white battery shape icon appears for 2 seconds and then the phone dies again. I think I repeated this process repeatedly for 10 minutes and the same thing happen again and again. Naturally I was very distressed. However, on the last attempt to turn it on, the phone actually turned on > asked for password > then OK already.....phew.....what do you guys think happened? I didnt download any apps the last few days except 2 days ago i updated to android 4.2.2 the phone battery seems to be back to empty efen after overnight charging.... |

QUOTE(ashrism @ Feb 22 2013, 07:52 AM) If any of you guys wanna try Ubuntu Touch Preview, Droid-Life have a guide flashing it using custom recovery. On XDA, some reported stuck during booting after wiping and some claimed that worked properly without wiping. Anyway, try at your own risk: may i know why all the fuss about this Ubuntu OS? wat so special abt this OS? QUOTE(faiz2036 @ Feb 22 2013, 10:11 AM) Because it's Ubuntu. Very popular Linux OS for PC and notebook. Now ubuntu can run in various type of device from pc to smartphone. the UI is beautiful. ur answer is like not answering at all... why is it popular among Linux OS for PC and notebook? Windows 8 also can run in various type of device from pc to smartphone (now)....will everyone be hu-haing about it? Mac/iOS also run from pc to tablet to smartphone.... UI is beautiful - can be obtained thru android customer widget/wallpaper... no need for me to purposely go flash my phone just to get its UI.... so what is so special about this ubuntu? what can it do that android cant that i must go and flash my nexus wif this new ubuntu os...converting it into a ubuntu device instead |
