Milan have officially announced that Christian Abbiati has returned to the club, taking the role of Club Manager.

The former goalkeeper spent close to 20 years with the Rossoneri, winning three Scudetti and the Champions League before retiring at the end of the 2015-16 season.

“Christian Abbiati is back home,” a statement from the Diavolo reads.

“A true Milan legend, he played 15 seasons in Rossonero, winning six italian trophies and two international titles.

“Today he has been named as Club Manager. He will report directly to the club's sporting and technical director Massimiliano Mirabelli and will be the liaison between the team and the Club.”

Gennaro Gattuso confirmed he will take the job of Primavera youth team Coach. “I wouldn’t have done it for anyone but Milan.”

This could be considered a step down for the 39-year-old, who has been first team Coach at FC Sion, Palermo, OFI Crete and Pisa.

“I wouldn’t have done it for any other destination, but Milan is Milan,” Gattuso told La Repubblica online.

In July he will take over as the Coach of the Rossoneri Primavera youth team.

Rino spent most of his career at San Siro from 1999 to 2012.

Previous Primavera tacticians in recent years include Pippo Inzaghi and Cristian Brocchi.

AC Milan take home their seventh new signing in this summer transfer window. The new Red and Black player is the Under-21 Italy international Andrea Conti. Here's the official statement.

Andrea Conti is one of the most interesting talents of the past Serie A season. He is a full back with great pace and stamina, capable of playing a more offensive football and of finding the empty space. A young talent who after the excellent 2016-17 spell with Atalanta - showing consistent performances throughout the whole campaign with 33 appearances and 2668 minutes played - is looking to take the leap in his career joining a top club in AC Milan. The Rossoneri have seen in Andrea the player with technical and tactical abilities, which added to a fine nose for goal, can come out handy to coach Montella and his "new" 2017/18 AC Milan.

Andrea started his path with Atalanta, playing for the Bergamo club until 2013. Then, at the age of 19, he went on loan to Perugia in Lega Pro (First Division): there he plays 16 games and wins the league being promoted to Serie B. The following season he kept playing in Italy's Serie B, this time with Lanciano, recording 24 appearances, with the club ending the season in 14th position. In the summer of 2015, he moved back to Atalanta, making his debut in the top-flight in the away game won at Udinese (2-1). With the Nerazzurri, he gave a boost to his career: 50 appearances and 10 goals - 8 scored in 2016-17 - over 24 months, between the League and Coppa Italia. Conti has also recently been called up with the senior national team (although he hasn't yet made his debut in a competitive match), while with the Under-21 he has already competed, scored and played this summer in the European Championships in Poland.

In the end, the Club and the goalkeeper have reached an agreement to extend Gianluigi Donnarumma's contract. Surely positive news for AC Milan who have worked hard to renew the keeper's contract, for the player and the fans. Therefore, Gigio's experience in the Red and Black continues. AC Milan will be holding tight on one of the most talented players in the squad with the class of '99 who will be part of the backbone of the Red and Blacks in the new season. After playing in our Youth Sector from 2005 to 2010, the class of 1990 goalkeeper will play in the first team.Antonio Donnarumma, as a youth, won a league with the Allievi (2007) and a Coppa Italia Primavera (2010) before starting his adventure as a professional footballer. In his career, he played for Piacenza, Gubbio and Bari in Serie B, making also one appearance in Serie A with Genoa. In the past campaign, he played in goal for Asteras Tripolis, in the Greek top-flight, recording 21 appearances in the league (1890 minutes) and 2 in the Cup.
