iMalaysian's reputation is well known on this forum (here's a particularly sad story where the owner gave some terrible customer service and then threatened to sue when the customer posted here: http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/947766/all . Here's another one: http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1453196/all ), but I'm so angry at the horrible service I got from iMalaysian that I needed to post my own. I wish I'd seen the previous posts before I walked into this shop. Hopefully my experience will stop others from making the same mistake.

I took my macbook with a cracked screen into iMalaysian. They gave me two options - replace the whole back panel for RM 2000 or just the screen for RM 1400. The only downside to replacing the screen would be that the finish around the edges wouldn't look as good. I went for the cheaper option and they told me that it'd be ready in a week.

Well, a week later I got a call saying that there was a problem - they'd fixed the screen, but my backlight was broken and it'd cost more money to replace. I told them that the backlight hadn't been broken when I dropped it off. They told me they'd call me back. I didn't hear from them again for another week.

A week later they told me that the screen was fixed and working as normal and that I could come and pick it up. Apparently they'd made a 'mistake' about the backlight and it hadn't been broken. I went to pick up the laptop, but when I got there it was obvious they'd done a bad job. The screen was fixed, but there were areas that were completely washed out. I told them that I wasn't paying RM 1400 for a shoddy repair job. They didn't offer a discount - apparently nobody in the shop was authorised to do that and the owners were uncontactable. They told me that I couldn't take the computer and they'd call back when their boss came back in three days. If the boss refused to give me a discount they would rebreak the screen and then deliver it to me. This is now two weeks after I dropped it off.

Two days later, they called me and told me that the price was non-negotiable, and that if I didn't want to pay that I'd have to come and pick it up. Apparently they'd forgotten their promise about delivering it.

So, in summary:

- it's now two and a half weeks since I dropped my laptop off. It was fixed (badly) and then they re-broke the screen. It's now in a worse condition than when I left it with them.
- they repeatedly lied - first about how good a repair job they'd be able to do, second about the backlight (presumably so I would have to pay more) and then about delivering the re-broken laptop to my house.
- they repeatedly failed to fulfill their promises (how long it would take them to repair, and failing to call back after they said they would)
- I've made three separate trips from KL to e@Curve. A complete waste of time and money!

This is just my experience of iMalaysian. Perhaps some people have had good service from them, but somehow I doubt it.

Question, why didn't go for Authorized Service Centers? Or at least more reputable ones like wei?

Would take max 5 days only with if went for Authorized repairers.

Well, this is the reason u only go for authorised service provider

Never in apple's dictionary to just repair the LCD
It should be whole piece replace. And u are still paying rm2k for that

Not everyone want to pay the price Apple set. And not everyone aware there are other options. I believe TS intention is to bring awareness of such issue. If bashing is all we received with intention of sharing, I wonder if other still willing to take their time and post their feedback.

It's not the first time and how could this
keep happening...

So it's ok if they are not Authorised Center to butchered any unit sent in and take no responsibility about it? What kind of world we living in?

frega, cRazYee - you're right of course. Apple only wants you to go through authorised service providers (and charge you $$$s). This was entirely my mistake - I should have done a bit more research before leaving my mac in the hands of iMalaysian. If I'd read some of the reviews first I wouldn't have let them anywhere near it.

Hopefully others won't make the same mistake.

I've added a link to this page to iMalaysian's thread: http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...&#entry58140495 . Only fair that they have the right to reply to my comments.

If you are still under warranty, just bring it in to authorized provider but if not more warranty just bring to trust worthy people like Wei tongue.gif

for authorized service provider, i personally prefer QCD Tech@Times Square, somehow they gave me a better service over Machines@The Gardens.
