nope.  is that a privacy protection app?  I don't use any such app at the moment or feel the need to want to at the moment.
*
It's an app-permissions control framework, operates at the kernel level. Unfortunately you can't just "apk" it. You need some kind of setup on the PC to read your rom binaries, then it generates some apk for that specific rom version. A little bit involved.

QUOTE(PeeEl @ Feb 17 2013, 11:08 AM)
It is very noble of you to chip in, in defense of the situation. I would do the same in your shoes. And you do not get much argument from me on what is stated as that would protract the issue.

I have to however correct you somewhat. I do not underestimate community forums. You will know why I say that if you only know how many I am involved in and how active I am in some of these.

The reason I am passionate about this particular discussion we are having is due to the fact that someone has hinged on the verge of promoting piracy which is a very big deal. It may get all concerned in trouble if the so-called authority does not address same, it will be deemed that we condone the practice. And I like it here too much to see such an affair happening here.
*
I have posted both those blatant examples as "UNACCEPTABLE POSTS" right below forum rules biggrin.gif

To have Admin step in was a bit of a surprise, but yes, as a community, we cannot condone bad behaviour and we must help the mods to police such.

Bro. What do you reckon? There are other ports behind the projector. Ex: 5v USB. S video. I think the note 2 cant use it right?

What I havr purchased is just wasted? Please advice how to enjoy note 2 on my projector.
*
Projectors are bad for anything higher than 1024 x 768. I know some can do 1280x1024 but are horribly expensive.

Why use a projector since the colours are always bad anyway. Enjoy it on yor LED/LCD TV.

I don't think you can use the USB. S-video is supposed to be digital but I'm not familiar with it.

Just found out that I have bad battery drain whenever I switch on WiFi.
Yesterday, I had 13% battery life at 3am and when I woke up at 8.30am this morn, battery was flat.
With WiFi off, I do have decent battery life. hmm.gif
I thought WiFi was supposed to be more battery friendly compared to 3G

Check last couple of pages for nehalem176's posts. Very informative.

did I miss anything?  rclxub.gif

Maybe you have some naughty app(s) waking up on wifi? It should not be the fault of the network but app behaviour.

one thing I managed to clear off is the deleted_wakelocks.
usually happens if you uninstall apps and some crap still left undeleted in the internal memory.
Delete it manually and reboot your device. That should resolved it.
*
Er, how do you clear the wakelock? From BBS? Please clarify a bit.

My average time taken for charging from 0 to 100 percent is about 3 hours..
Is this normal or abnormal.. since doing some maths 3100 mah which js 3.1Ah. Since charge equals current times time.. total time required equals 3.1 divide by the total currnt output of the charger which is 2A equals 1.55 hours.. mind took double the time required for perfect or an ideal battery.  Is this a bad sign of battery aging??
*
bro, you do realise that there is real world efficiency vs theoretical efficiency? doh.gif

Anywhere between 2 to 3 hours is fine.

I have no desire for any to start flaming you. You may go ponder upon Graham's number and tell us the result.

QUOTE(Sadru @ Feb 17 2013, 08:28 PM)
guys, could u recommend must have apps for note 2?
such as cleaner and the anti virus. etc etc that is well needed for the phone?
*
Well, I do think app choice is very personal, you can do whatever you like. General advice is to VIEW APP PERMISSIONS before installing.
For example, a wallpaper should not need ANY PERMISSIONS, a launcher will have almost all permissions. See what the app does, then see the permissions. If a wallpaper needs network access, sms and phone, then......

I will try to see what can be put regarding recommended apps, but there's a link on post 5 to XDA android software forum. Go take a look there.

Yeah I totally understand some are just trying to be funny. Anyways, I'm cool. Just want to let out my final opinion before going on stalker mode again. Let's get back to discussing abt Note2 before mods give warning lol

QUOTE(aspire2oo6 @ Feb 17 2013, 11:42 PM)
let me correct you there we are not being funny we are just stating what you just said. We do not create a new fact from thin air we are just sharing how you construct your words and that define what it means.

We are here to educate each other and not twisting information then create a misunderstanding flame war.

like how TS correct our grammar and spelling we dont shoot him isnt that trying to be funny indirectly.

We take it as a lesson, learned and apply it in future.

Sorry get back to topic.

Just a quick chip in to clarify what is called NON-VERBAL COMMUNICATION.

When we talk face to face, we can see each other's expressions and can detect if it's a serious statement or not by tone of voice, facial expression and body language. These are called NON-VERBAL CUES.

In writing of any form, like letters, memos, emails, forums etc, we cannot see any of that, only what is written. So, words need to be chosen, and the reader/receiver should also ask for clarity if certain words are unclear as to intent. That is part of semantics, the science of meaning. I won't go into that, but suffice to say, we have emoticons to compensate (poorly) for non-verbal cues.

So, that is why I want to highlight we should be mindful of semantics in our non-verbal communication. And this is still LYN forum, for Android Galaxy Note 2. Yes, as I have said in post 1, we don't need to nitpick about battery life, just enjoy it, and I do agree with Isabell that just a 10minute topup giving an extra approx 2 hours is actually a very good ROI smile.gif

isabell keep participating.

Ok. I got these steps from tot31. So credits goes to him.
You can just skip the rooting part for 4.1.2

1. Downgrade to old bootloader.
2. Flash the old 4.1.1 firmware and root it.
3. Install Triangle Away and reset the counter.
4. Install the latest 4.1.2 using Mobile Odin not PC Odin. This is the only way to preserve the old bootloader but having the new firmware. Use EverRoot option to maintain root.
5. Go to Download Mode to check the binary counter and if it is not 0 try to use TA again to reset it.

These steps gets you root, old bootloader and everything official with binary counter 0 in download mode for 4.1.2. Stop at number 3 if you are going to claim warranty.

Nice review of Xperia Z
http://www.gsmarena.com/sony_xperia_z-review-887.php

Unfortunately there weren't any details on the power saving, just a very short paragraph. I'm impressed by the Z, but I earnestly want an active digitizer and larger screen smile.gif

As I said sometime early on, if this is the NEW Sony, Samsung needs to watch out. Only time will tell if Sony Entertainment will come and strangle their younger brother. I am well aware of how Sony has the devs milling around them now.

Note 2 would be the last and greatest of the A9-only generation. All the new platforms (Snapdragon, Tegra4) are not true A15s as such IINM but advanced hybrids extending A9 into A15 levels, but still a good thing overall. Good competition for A15.

FYI, Im using Sandisk 64GB Class 10 microsd as external memory card and the camera is set to store the captured photo in external memory card.

Somehow, i have 1 corrupted photo last month & 1 more last week...
Wondering is it the exFAT format that cause this problem...
It didn't happened frequently, but when it happened, it makes me headache... doh.gif

Does any1 face the same problem ?

All, added the case pics as links in post 5.

One note, let's be civil, polite, mature. Temperatures got a little heated (though it's pretty cooling where I am). This thread has been civil, polite and mature, let's keep it that way.

The "king" may need dethroning and take gardening leave if he stirs civil unrest. He seems to have done so in other threads.

I wonder what's his fetish with local politicians.

BTW I have not been in town for some time, and was terribly busy the last 3 days, and now can refocus on the forum. It's still moving pretty quickly. Sad to see uncle Benny sell off his Note2, but I guess we will all benefit from his insight using the Xperia Z or Butterfly and provide some interesting comparisons for us.

I am asking for some contributing writeups to some empty sections you see in the first few posts. I'm drafting up some redesign of sections as well.
