lorr..keep ur vcore under 1.6 v.. high voltage gonna kill ur proc..
nothing much different for me when running at 2.5 Ghz or 2.6 Ghz.. but running 2.5 ghz with vcore under 1.6 can give me more confident liow.. |

QUOTE(magiara @ Mar 30 2006, 08:11 PM) low voltage not stable means yr CPU isnt able to run that high lo. If u keep on pushing and run 24/7 then it will spoil easily. Js detune to 1.55V running at lower clock. Sometimes it will b more stable and less error. 100-200MHz doesnt bring u too much diffrence in speed, but means a lot in lifespan.Well, if u got the $ to play then nvm lo, u can even try 1.7 or 1.8V. |

ninja scythe is good lah!!! Only problem is that it's too big. Some casing will have problems catering for it. Mine is running awesome. Load is 52c with moderate overclocking.
BTW, you should know that different motherboard will give different reading because of the way temp probe and temp chipset are implemented. Asus might give 50c but jetway may give 48c or abit may give 45c. As long as you don't see too high temp then it should be fine. |

Using Pentium D 930 with Ninja Plus. Overclock at 1.3V and get load temp around 60C. Room temp is only 25 and mobo 33C. I think poor contact with the processor. Using Artic Silver 5. Any tips on installing Ninja on 775 sockket ?

Dude you really got to check the contact, its best to remove your entire mobo and put on the HSF as you can see clearly the contact point. Btw here's the site on Applying Artic Silver Instructions, hope it helps. But I've used the traditional way whereby i spread a thin surface of the AS over my CPU (P42.8E sc478). Getting some pretty good result, room temp around 27c mobo 39c CPU idle 43/44c load 49/50c @ 1.4v 3.5ghz I'm using Ninja + too btw |

Just got my my Ninja earlier today. Will install them later if I'm still awake
I also have a few extra units. PM me if anybody is interested. **EDIT** Ninja ROCKS! Ninja with stock fan ![]() Thermaltake Big Typhoon with stock fan ![]() I reckon changing the fan to the 70+ CFM Delta that I have lying around and waiting for a few days to let the AS5 settle down can reduce the temp a few degrees more This post has been edited by arj: May 15 2006, 02:01 AM |

Before changing...
idle temp is 46c, if in air-cond is 42c load temp is 56c if in air-cond is 53c With Ninja + AS5 idle temp is 40c if in air-cond is 35c load temp is 48c - 54c (depends on the room temp) if in air-cond is 46 - 48c (highest i noticed so far...) |

LOL, that's not much improvement. Is your casing has good air ventilation?

i'd suspect your casing has bad ventilation.. and the heat just gets trapped inside during high load situations. Try putting a better fan at the outlet at the back and see if there is any improvement.

Iam sick with the high pitch of high speed fan, so stick with the original ninja fan. I tried to unclip the heatsink but it is damn hard to unclip from the retenion braket, so i twisted the heatsink. wow! 2c dropped noticely...

the reason why it is that good is because they have successfully overlapped 6 heatpipes in a small area which is just nice compared to the proc contact area.
this is very crucial in removing the heat as fast as possible from the proc. do note that those really high end heatsinks will have small base surface area or thin block to ensure that the heat goes to the heatpipe ASAP instead of storing it in the base area. I am using scythe ninja plus, the fan is very hard to mount. When oc to 2.4Ghz (opteron 165) at 1.4V, double core priming the temperature reach 62C nearing the 65C limit. Quite bad stock fan. Anyone know where to buy high performance quiet fan?

Bcos the smart guardian is infamous of reporting much lower temp. For proper temp, use external sensor. |

ok updating my scythe ninja...got the Panaflo FBA12G12U (120x120x38mm, 114.7 CFM @ 2750 RPM, 45.5 dBA <---The spec) yesterday and replaced my old stock scythe fan wif it... ...and after sum brute force i managed to squeeze it into my scythe ninja cpu cooler...hav to bend the fan clip tho till its straight and fit the 38 mm panaflo fan... ...and got a decreement of around 4-6 Celcius idle and 8-10 Celcius full load... so my idle now is around 30-32 Celcius and full load 35-36 Celcius... ...the noise is quite ok for me since last time was dead silent... but i seriously need a better casing for better airflow than tis current olskool icute wif no good airflow... |

It's noise is not gonna be lower than 48Db... Are you sure you can stand the noise? |

If while lapping then u see that the base of u're heatsink is mirror shining already [this depend on u're own view of "mirror shining"], then u can stop liao... Some people need 2 hours, some others need more time to complete it to their own view of "mirror shine" heatsink base... |

QUOTE(sHawTY @ Nov 22 2006, 10:14 PM) How long? lapping is not only to make it mirror shine. It's to make the base of the surface flat, so that more area can come in contact. Results are higher temps. And yes, this will void ur warranty. |

yup. i don't like to lap the hsf cause i'm afraid that the copper base might get oxidize faster than normal. how would you all clean your hsf? i'm planning to use alcohol.
