Dear friends,
this friend of mine, he owns an iPhone 4 black 16GB maxis set jailbroken on 4.2.1
question is, he wants to upgrade to iOS 6.1
what is the 1st step that needs to be done?
he already made a backup using iTunes on his PC. I already downloaded evasi0n 1.3 and ipsw for iOS 6.1 on my PC.
kindly assist me n my friend, thanks everyone.. =)
P/S: I have once jailbroken my brother's iPhone 4 long time ago, so hopefully im not all lost about this one. hehe
edit: oh yes, will he lose some or all of his apps? he needs his notes so much.

QUOTE(cute_boboi @ Feb 15 2013, 05:47 PM) 1) Connect using cable to PC. 2) iTunes Backup Now into PC. Select copy apps into PC for faster restore later. 3) Shift+click Restore, select the downloaded IPSW file. Cannot upgrade since it is previously j/b. 4) When Restore done, check is iOS 6.1 5) Start j/b 6) Once j/b done, Cydia synced, start restore from Backup. QUOTE(gengstapo @ Feb 16 2013, 11:37 AM) The Cydia will do it automatically Plus, blobs wont works iPhone 4s onwards u guys r great! thanks so much for the help!

QUOTE(Joelles @ Apr 26 2013, 10:54 AM) No matter you update directly or using the "shift restore" method, the process needs verification from Apple server(means you have to be online) and it will only permits a newer iOS FW rather than the older one. That's where I got stuck. Tried to help my friend to upgrade his 4.3.3 jailbroken iPhone 4 to 6.1.2 but somehow iTunes came out with an error when trying to load the ipsw. how can i fix this? thanks.

QUOTE(Joelles @ May 2 2013, 10:36 AM) Download the specific ipsw 6.1.3 and install it to the phone through iTunes. In the meantime, there's only a tethered Jailbreak available for iPhone 4, search and download "Sn0wbreeze 2.9.14" if you prefer to have a tethered Jailbreak otherwise stay with the Official Stock OS. thanks for your reply.. but she wanted to have latest iOS with untethered JB. So i was thinking of upgrading the iPhone 4 4.3.3 JB to official 6.1.2 first, n then only JB the 6.1.2 using the tool.. but iTunes refused to restore the phone to 6.1.2 ipsw.. is this the correct way of doing it? how to get from iPhone 4 4.3.3 JB ----to------> iPhone 4 6.1.2 JB? thanks in advance.

QUOTE(Joelles @ May 2 2013, 04:55 PM) You can't update 6.1.2 anymore since Apple have push the latest iOS 6.1.3, whenever you perform a FW update or restoration it will verify by Apple server. You either stays with the current untethered Jailbroken 4.3.3 or update to 6.1.3 then tethered jailbreak it. that's the clearest explanation i've ever had regarding this situation.. thanks a lot.. =)

QUOTE(Joelles @ May 2 2013, 05:14 PM) Before updating just make sure the phone is an unlock set and if it's a lock set, you need to meet the baseband version requirement in order to unlock while jailbreaking. she bought it from Maxis. so i think it's unlocked by default, right?
