I think the U1 U2 modes will be better for indoor and outdoor settings respectively ?
That way you have a starting point and noneed to turn the knobs so much (if you are shooting manual la of course haha)..

Outdoor settings are almost "close" to settings for sports I guess; whereas indoors for portrait.
And as freddy has mentioned, the settings will vary alot depending on your lens and (especially) flash usage

Unless if you are into some pretty serious photography involving fast moving subjects, the D7000 is the wiser pick, leaving you around RM1k for some better glass

Just guessing
Use Lightroom
Adjust the highlight and shadow colors under Split Toning (A bit trial and error until you get the effects you desire)
Under Tone Curve, adjust the lefthand-most Point Curve (for black) upwards so the black colors will be brighter, and at the same time giving the effect as if a transparent white "filter" covers the entire photo.
Adjust the remaining, normal settings i.e. saturation, highlights, exposure etc. until you get the wanted effect

*Just my guess haha, and sorry about the terms, I don't know what exactly are they called
