I'm thinking of using my old pc as a router + download machine. Not sure whether it will work or not.
I'm trying to keep the number of devices to the minimum.
Because the tplink wr1043nd (it's running openwrt) only have 5 ports in total, im thinking of
port 0 aka wan port : connect to btu
port 1 - 2 : connect to pc ( I only have two PCs, the rest are wireless)
port 3 : connect to router
port 4: iptv
For the port 3(router), I'm thinking of using a single NIC and setup two virtual interfaces (vlan 1 and 500) for LAN and WAN respectively.
Here is what I have in mind. Is this workable? been too long since I touched anything regarding to network.

A few pointers..
- Can't u use yr TPlink as the router since it is already running openWRT ?
- Using an old PC as router is a bad idea bcos of the "higher power usage" compared to embedded appliance since you are running it 24/7, and also heat and noise from the fan...
- Get those NAS HDD with support for bittorrent like the DNS-323 or similar ( I'm running transmission-bt on mine )...
- Some of the ASUS/TPLINK routers hv UNIFI stickers and support UNIFI with the existing firmware...
