Hi, just checked with TM call centre, they say that after 24 months contract, if i wish to downgrade, I need to either pay RM200 penalty charge or renew another 24 months contract for the new package..

anyone here manage to downgrade without any charges or contract duration extension here?

their downgrade policy doesnt make much sense to me, they already earned my money for 2 years and now still tries to bind me to a contract if i try to change my package

http://www.tm.com.my/unifi/home/Pages/contract-terms.aspx
Upgrade & Downgrade
Customer is only allowed to upgrade or downgrade the UniFi Service package after the expiry of two (2) working days from the installation date.

Customers can upgrade or downgrade their UniFi service by visiting TMpoint, through any TM authorized sales channel (AE only) or by calling TM UniFi Center (1-300-88-1222). If a customer requests for a downgrade within the 24 month contract period, a downgrade fee of RM 200 will be charged. The existing CPE will be used unless a change is required due to the nature of the downgrade requested. For any upgrade or downgrade request that requires a visit by TM to a customer’s premises, an additional fee of RM 200 will be imposed.

-----

Unless the contactor needs to be at your place to facilitate downgrades, it should be free according to the contract terms.
Not sure if this updated or not.
Their NGN should allow them to do any modification of package speed from their end without the need to send technicians to the ipdslam or your hse...

thanks, however on their FAQ, it's written that any upgrade/downgrade will renew the contract period back to 24 months again.

actually, as i said, i called them up, and they gave me 2 options, and I am actually talking about the scenario when your 2 years bind contract period has matured. So after 2 years, I wanna downgrade from VIP 10 to VIP 5, only have 2 choice:
a) pay RM200 as penalty charge, and no further contract bind period
b) refresh the contract and get binded for another 2 years

both ways doesnt make sense to me, because after 2 years of contract period, you will still need to either pay, or get stuck another 2 years to get a cheaper package, it's unfair to the consumer side.

so anyone managed to downgrade here without paying nor having to get bind 2 years? otherwise i'd just find some other alternative instead, unifi speed has not been stable recently anyway

hi guys,

last time my unifi very strong in my room although with 2 bars of signal strength, can dota 2 and download full speed. how come now my unifi so terrible? same wifi strength, but keep disconnecting. abandoned few freaking games in a row already!! ping google.com -t shows its so unstable. from 7ms to 3k ms. wtf sia. last time steady 7-13ms like that. any solution to this?

i spent a lot buying new pc and TP-link tl-wr1043nd router already. no extra cash to buy more stuffs.. any idea what should i do to solve this w/o spending any money?

you mentioned that you are using another router now? maybe you can try my config, mine was almost the same as yours, but latency is very high due to low signal, what i did was to setup my second router as a network repeater, basically router connects to your main router, and put out wifi signal through it. with that, i get strong connection in my room now. Not sure how you config yours, but i think google should be able to find out thumbup.gif

I don think wat they told u is true. U can downgrade after 2 years without extra charges and without contract extension.

exactly, I was under the same impression, i remember the agent that signed me up said the same as well.

but I was asking the helpline person for a few times on that call and he say this information was being told by some marketing people that he asked..

which is why i would like to get a confirmation here, since it's always more informative then their helpline biggrin.gif

hey, which router did u use as network repeater? i have DIR-615 and TL-WR1043ND. i used tp-link as my main router now. yesterday i tried config the DIR-615 provided by TM for access point. it worked, but i get limited or no connectivity. the signal is full at my room whenever i turn on the d-link.. i'm not good at networking stuffs, read few hours tested this and that still not working, can't find a proper custom firmware for my DIR-615 G2..
the ping is 1ms, 2ms and <1ms..
hmm, my old pc is using TL-WN321G which runs b/g wireless only, i tested N only and the pc totally couldn't connect, so i changed it to BGN mixed.
and okay thanks bro! i'll test and give u the results!

I'm using WRT54GS with DD-WRT as my repeater now, took me one whole day to config that thing using DD-WRT's online documentation guide. and during that process i had to reset the router a few times cause i cant access it too sweat.gif

luckily in the end when i was about to give it i succeeded, and now my room signal super strong liao thumbup.gif
