QUOTE(ooikeat @ Feb 23 2013, 03:30 PM)
Yesterday test drove a 2012 test drive 1.6HS with 5k millage. Still in good condition but noticed one thing. When I sit behind, when go through bumps, holes or uneven road, there's "ngek ngek" sound from the back seat left and right side as well just below the ear. Should be due to friction between leather seat with the side. Anyone encounter the same issue and found any solution for that?
*
I think what you heard is from the friction between the 4 door rubber lining to the side of the car body, every on and off I need to apply silicon lub on all the rubber lining to reduce the friction sound.. rainy season some more worst.. the lubs get wash off more frequent and need to apply more frequent.. quite annoying though sad.gif

SC also apply lub on it when i complaint..haiz~~ no permanent solution

You can get some tips from civic_spoon bro ..  nod.gif
But depends on your route and driving habits end of the day.
But 360km means really bad traffic.
I drove 1 hr with 25km to cover every morning to work.
45-50mins in jam. only 10 mins smooth cruising but still can clock at least 440km with 75-80 fuel.
*
I think it's somehow related to my short distance route mayb??.. daily 10km from home to work.. no traffic jam.. only 2 traffic with short stopage, 10 to 15 min reach office..if my wife drive to work (her work place is more than 20KM from home).. she tend to get better mileage ( ask her how much she say better but dunno the figure...duh doh.gif )...Also I'm a bit heavy foot..but previously I do try on to be gently on the pedal and always watch for the eco lite on.. does not help much.. only only~10km extra..mayb need light foot surgery sweat.gif

Like tat sure la. Ur petrol mostly used to warm up engine. Where can cruise with such short distance? Should have gotten hybrid for ur case. U can use battery mmode all the way to work wink.gif
*
not much choice for hyrid under 100K mar... CT200 very expensive.. the rest of the hybrid not my cup of tea tongue.gif

mmm...hard to say but 42l should get u 410++. short distance have tendencies to consume fuel. maybe u r really heavy footed and when comes to light footed, ur too light. as i said b4 u need to master how to shift early in auto?shift early in auto?not use manual coz manual hard to shift early coz manual meant for sport mode. ECU won't let u to shift early.so u need to master shift early in auto.do you know how?shift early will make ur FC better for short distance.

1. u need to watch the rpm meter for this skill
2. ur limit is 2000 rpm.
3. in 1st gear, try accelerate to 2000 rpm
4. by the time u nearly reach 2000 rpm, let ur foot off let go a bit.(don't let ur foot off the pedal it will make ur car not smooth).ECU will let u to 2nd gear.
5. do this until 6th gear. in 6th gear let ur foot as light as u can...

if you don't reach 6th gear u won't get better FC...6th gear meant for fuel saving...

if you want to accelerate more than 2000 rpm, yes u can but let ur car change gear also by letting off a bit the pedal.(u cannot be at low gear for too long as it will doom ur FC.

so main goal here is don't fooling too long at low gear....change gear as fast us u could. HE is not a sports car. its an everyday car commute from A to B. hyundai volestor turbo is a sports car. even some people review its not a true sports car, but hyundai make it as a sport car...u can drive fast with it.

HE won't go fast as u desire. if you ram it until red line, the power will be gone as u reach 5500 rpm - 6000 rpm.

i also wish HE can go fast but it wont. u can feel the car is in great stress if you ram at high revs....

but yeah, its ur car. its up to you. just wait for speedworks to come out turbo kit for HE. that will be so much fun...
*
Hmmm.. didn't think about this while driving auto tranny.. maybe I'm too used to drive manual tranny car and need fast accelerate.. will try and see if it's help

Yeah.. I understand our HE is just for the sporty look.. the engine noise is very harsh when rev high. I was too hoping speedwork to come out with BOT or supercharger for our HE so it's won't be a boring car..sigh~~

No rattle? That is a tough call. Used to own 2 German prestige cars from different era and both rattled! mad.gif It is part and parcel of vehicle ownership. Of course if you spend more, the rattles get lesser. You pay for what you get.

My present Elantra, no rattle from the dashboard but the doors squeeks when going through bumpy roads. My Forte dashboard rattles but the doors are quiet when going through bumpy roads. rclxub.gif My 15 year old Honda City, god forbid.... My ex-Dugong... an orchestra until I had to take the dashboard apart myslef to rectify some of the rattles and squeeks. Lesser noises but still there.

Now what I do... turn up the volume of the radio! blink.gif

Hi flashg, I share your same sentimental, those squeeking noise really annoying, i try to apply the silicon lub (SA also did the samething) on all the wheather strip and manage to minimise the noise, but not for long when the lubs dry out or gone after rain, the noise came back.

could it be the rubber lining rub against car body the when the car body flex on uneven road? I was thinking adding some foam around the door step so that when the door is close, the rubbing lining is rubbing against the foam instead of the metal. not sure it work or not or whether this is the root cause

Any member here face the similiar issue and able to solve it?

Also rubbing between rubbers of the doors and door frame. In our cold hot weather, u can keep applying whatever. It will just keep happening.
At least the internal panel they give is good and hold the cables properly. Try opening door panels of toyota/honda, they use pink/blue plastic bags inside!! Where possible no noise?

Sigh~~ looks like this plague most of the elantrian..
