guys need some detail about the FC here.
apparently i just got my 1.8 elantra and it just hit 1k odo and not yet service.
however, im experiencing super bad fuel consumption where by my first tank im getting only 330km on rm80 or 7.85km/l while the second tank getting only rm350 on same fuel or 8.3km/l.
i believe the improvement is due to the slower driving style where i try to kepp the eco light on while on the first tank, im actually flooring it whenever probable.

what is your fc? mind to share? thanks!

i also got another issue regarding the alarm system. sometimes when i lock the car, the siren will sound. i have to open all the doors and close it harder then only can lock. when the siren sound, there isno indicator for opened door on the meter.

as i am a yim chim person when it comes to nvh, i did hear a faint tik tak sound emitting from the rear right door panel for unknown reason. but this one maybe caused by tinting shop sweat.gif

My friend is getting a very high fuel consumption. 11.4l/100km 100% city.
So I just wonder would that make any difference as he haven't go for the 1st service yet.
*
u call that high? mine 7.8km/l leh!
i guess bad fuel consumption is still a synonym with korean car

I think quite a few of owners did mentioned in here before in the FC.
You could join the FB group for more in depth info.

Anyway, I'm driving a 1.6 n had been flooring it after my 15,000km service (now 23,+++).
My full tank is $78-80 average n able to clock min 420-450 with heavy jam every morning.
Trust me when I say heavy where I have to endure 1 to 1-1/2 hour traffic sometimes (normal day 30mins drive)

Your FC might improve a lil but after 5000 service.
How much does your ODO shows on a full tank?
I guess min 510km n above or else you can opt to reset your ECU.

Do you mind sharing what car you're driving previously? smile.gif
*
odo shows 555km to empty.
drove perodua kelisa, hyundai matrix, proton wira, honda accord, nissan cefiro, toyota avanza, honda city.
for a new car, the elantra has the worst fc of all. for now.
just did first service. hope it improve over time

Mine 1.6HS RM 80, 430km, 100%highway, odo still below 1000km.
*
despite its 1.6 and 100% highway which i assume speeding around 110~130km/h, thats actually terrible...
at least mine is 100% city drive wit jam most of the time sweat.gif

QUOTE(stevenycs @ Feb 4 2013, 09:20 PM)
ODO showing 555km but u can only clock less than 400km is a bit weird.

Cause different drivers do have different driving habit as you know.

Don't know if your right might be quite heavy sometimes?!  tongue.gif

Maybe your ecu still learning your driving habit.

Give it a few more round. Should be better.  biggrin.gif
*
sorry, i just did full tank and it show 485km to empty.
the first full tank i got 330km, second tank 350km, third full tank 340km. now is on 4th full tank. i dont have good impression on it...

D.O.B : October 2012
D.O.A : Mid January 2013
Place : Kah Bintang
Hyundai Elantra 1.8 2013 creamy white

Love the car from day 1. Current mileage 300km.

I went to Avantegarde to install rear light. Ah Bao said cannot be done as my car is 2013 spec. what ??????. He said the bulp is already there. but when i on the light, the middle rear light never came up. then i remember i read in ver 7 the difference between 2012 spec & 2013 spec. REAR FOG LIGHT!!!!!!!!!
this really irritates me because to on the light there is another switch.(its a fog light). to me its suppose to be rear light.fine. nevermind the extra switch for me to on it. but what makes me more frustrated the foglight is more bright then the rear light. can u imagine that?

so how to repair this?how to make one switch on all rear light AND most important that bulp need to change to the same bulp as other rear light.

do you know where i can do this? Ah Bao can't do it.

need help here.

others are fine.

auto rain sensor not to its par. a few drops of rain still it can not detect. need to do it manually. so no auto for me.

at this moment my average fuel consumption was down from 12.8 l/km to 9.8 l/km this morning(after 300km run in)

oh I also bought the Potent Booster. still at normal and eco mode. after 1st service will go for race mode!

previous i own a honda civic 99 B18C enjin. the difference????

1. more spacious
2. sun roof
3. automatic tranny(no more pain for my left leg)
4. comfort
5. cold acc

my friends compliment the car is spacious AND they love the sunroof. this 2 hard to get from old or new cars.

so thats it.

hope you could help my dilemma for rear light for 2013 spec. I bet the others will have the same feeling "disappointed".

the conti tyre are junk useless
my 1 month old car ran though potholes at 40kmh and 2 tyre on the left burst.
straight change the stupid weak rim and tyre to yoko c drive. now its more solid to drive!

also, the fc sucks hard. while i can get 500km/42l on highway, i can only get 350/42l in city drive with 1.8 nu engine.

also, the engine required more than 4l of oil whereas my old 2.5L V6 only takes 4L of engine oil. this is due to the design of the engine sweat.gif

also the service center only service with bloody shell engine oil. they claim the engine was engineered with shell oil and it is recommended to use back shell. but in my 8 years of driving experience, shell fuel and engine oil are the suckiest for all my car ranging from wira 4g15 carb, 4g92 mivec, avanza 1.3 and 1.5, accord r20a, city l15a, cefiro vq30de and vq25dd and much more.

too bad, bringing own engine oil may void the engine warranty cry.gif

i think u r getting car manufactured in year 2012, but registered in year 2013.
better have that check properly. i bought my car from commercial section due to out company connection with hyundai. we only get 2k discount @ RM111,888 half year ago.
i just asked yesterday, now still giving 2k discount on 1.6 medium line and manual line for us only.
if u buy from showroom some dont even give discount as the discount actually come from their own commission.

QUOTE(Jack Jarrett @ Mar 14 2013, 04:40 PM)
I heard it's around RM500 complete with installation.
*
arent taht abit useless? seriously whats the use for it? RM500 is definitely not a small figure.

last time i install a rear camera for only RM200 inclusive parts and workmanship. its just simply wiring to the hu and a switch.
the AV-in on the HU will auto turn on when it receive signal whenever u flip the switch and walah, your camera is working now.
also, drilling and mounting the camera is easy job, as what i notice when i install the camera previously.

Dude, I'm interested in fixing 2 front cameras for the front side corners of the car to avoid hitting stuff while cornering (especially useful in *insert shopping mall here*). But won't it void the warranty of the car?
*
definitely will void, and i dont think the stock hu are able to separate both image side by side. chances are, u have to flip the switch to change side which will look unprofessional.
heck, if u need a camera just to park properly its already..... sweat.gif

Hi Friends,

My Elantra 1.6 HS done 2600 kms.
Last fill of petrol done at Shell. The car is smooth and can do decent accelerations.
This time my car at fuel red light drove for 590 kms.

Conditions: Mixed (highway / city)
eco mode on
speed 90 to 120
I am really happy with my Elantra 1.6 HS
*
seriously man, how did u drive your car? always below 2k rpm?
i drove 2k rpm on my elantra 1.8 and i could only get 400km top. serviced 5k already.
in comparison, my bro's 2012 civic fd2 could easily get 450km with regular, non restraining drive

Hi Friend,

You drive with light foot on the accelerator pedal.

Make the eco green light glow when ever possible.

Reset the ??/ 100Km. Maintain that ??/100km as 6 to 7 or may be 7.5 will do. When reading showing 10+L/100km please reset the counter. Then the current reading will display after 500m drive. so the meter reading is refreshed.

If you are in traffic jam you need not accelerate heavily... do it smoothly according to the movement of vehicles. If you accelerate heavily and brake .... doing so will waste petrol.

No need to switch off Aircon.

Try to do full tank of when filling the petrol.

Still I am using the Shell engine oil recommended by Hyundai.

Weekly once please check the tyre pressure.

Use sports mode (manual) while you are over taking. This will avoid fuel wasting. (I am doing this). After overtaking come to Drive (auto).

Hill or slope region please use sports mode (Manual) because to maintain proper gear.
I follow this way to get better fuel efficiency. There are many seniors and genius over here... i dont know what they are going to comment on my post.
*
i've stated clearly, i drive below 2k rpm, that means the green light eco mode always on.
also, with under 2k rpm, i cant even accelerate harshly during traffic jam.
i never switch off air cond
i always do full tank ron95 petron/exxo
using the stupid shell oil by hyundai
tyre pressure check every full tank
never on sport mode. more on cruising

i think something wrong with my car or did u actually got that figure? unless u 100% highway thats abit unbelieveable.

hard feeling? what hard feeling? dont get too full of yourself man.
i've considered installing a front camera during my proton wira that time but it was deemed useless thats why i scrapped the plan.
and suddenly it is the popular mod here? or u sendiri popular only?
what other will think of you if even when u do frontal parking that u need a camera assistant to park "properly"? if thats the case, u are a fail driver. no offence.
the car is not big nor it is wide. i just dont see the reason to do it other than the lame bragging rights.

the camera module and the converter or switch is cheap stuff. can get less than rm100 in china if u know where to source.
if i bring it to EA auto works, i doubt it will cost me rm300 just to get it install. and i might not be diy man, but i have a working knowledge on how the installing or the camera works.

elantra car i can say is a big car. and the seats if adjust it high ur hair will hit the car roof. if set it low, then u can't see the front. if equip with camera it will be so convienient to the driver especially want to park at home near to the wall to make space at behind for instance..u can't always agak2 all the time.

then one day u hit the wall?wouldn't that be too late to install the camera???if in market have Infra red or night vision camera why not have it install... drool.gif
*
lol i dont know how u drive your car. i've all sorts of car from A,B,C,D, SUV, MPV segment. none of it need frontal camera installation lolol
even my short 5ft gf driving my elantra having no problem with it and he actually said its front is quite short. easy to park

QUOTE(manikandj @ Mar 15 2013, 12:27 PM)
Cool Friend,

2k or 4k or 5k rpm we can make the green eco light on. It depends how you accelerate. I have tried upto 4k with eco light on. FC depend upon the driving habits boss. What is your Mileage ???

About Shell Engine Oil!! Its not the inferior quality boss!! Shell is world class company. Hyundai, they are not supplying with unbranded oils say in label of their own car brand. eg. toyota genuine engine oil or XXX YYY brand car genuine oil. do you know what is the brand of the oil they use??? Hyundai they are clear about what they are using.
Have a friendly relationship with Hyundai SC guys and take your own, so called better oil boss!!!
If you really having problem in mileage, Please check with SC. They help you....if not they reset your ecu!!

STAY COOL!! whistling.gif
*
its almost impossible to rev 4k or 5k with green light on. how u do it?

and i've been changing engine oil for the past 8 years and tried all brands like bhp, mobil, penzoil, chemlube etc etc. of all the oil i test, shell is the world. its heavy despite having same viscosity as others. i normally use 10w40.
their fuel lagi teruk. none of my car actually like shell fuel. straight become underpowered and lazy. true story.

im getting only 350km full city drive for elantra 1.8

Used with Petro Canada 10w30, Petro Canada MV ATF and Shell RON95.

wow 14.5km/l. but u highway alot consider ok la

QUOTE(manikandj @ Mar 16 2013, 10:30 AM)
Hello Friend Good Morning,

What hyundai recommend is Shell oil or Quaker State engine oil (which is again from SHELL ONLY / QC is durable and performance ... think this is costly).... if you affordable you can go for it.... since you are using Hyundai recommended you wont loose your warranty. You have used Pennzoil is product from SHELL Only boss.

About 4k or 5k rev up: please increase your accelerator smoothly with the eco light on..... this will work..... i am doing it.

About the front camera: BOSS they are trying to push or sell or do marketing about their camera boss..... leave them.... if they tell something bad only people will buy their product (front camera)

You may have all A, B, C, D, EEEE, FFFF, Suv, MPV cars .... I have only Elantra and I love it....
Love your car and the car will .........

TO Do:
1. Please inform your SC about your FC. They will give solutions.
2. Most of 1.8 users are using potent booster......u can try it
*
i did mention pennzoil, but i didnt say it was good though sweat.gif i'm forced to use shell to keep the stupid warranty running.

i seriously dont know how u rev. if i slowly rev, i ned to press quite alot to get to 5k rpm and when pressing alot, the eco light off. do u mind taking video and show me? i wana c whether is my car problem or not

my point is, im having various segments of car and none of it require the use of frontal camera. i did not said anything about not loving them.

good for you bro, u don't need to waste money buying the camera....but some people have this idea that if u can control by agak2 its  notworthy.gif but some people tend to misjudge on something so to minimise the damage they use camera...like people prefer auto tranny from manual tranny...its their choice.

why care makers don't install front camera is because they see it not as a major problem. they can install one anytime. like park assist. why do some cars have it?its convenient bro.. so do the front camera. but in my opinion with the camera u can avoid front hitting divider to minimum 0.

all this while ur gf park the car agak2...one day she misjudge, then she will come to u, i want the front camera? hmm.gif ......

so please don't question people how to drive...in this forum we support each other and encourage others that may have doubt on something....

try to make elantra a special car like no other...benefit to the owner and the comfort of passengers...we want to hear people say elantra is the best car.... icon_rolleyes.gif
*
best car? its definitely not. maybe we can make it the best car in its respective thread but its definitely not out there.
however, for the price, nothing much i can complaint about besides from the stupendous fc and the china made dvd hu.

maybe u all can consider installing the camera on the sides as well. one face front, 1 face left, 1 face right.
i notice more people are less cautious when turning into parking than parking straight lol. thats why u see many people have scrapped their bumper sides lol.

and oh, my gf prefer and most of the time do reverse parking. safer, easier, cleaner parking technique. in this case, rm500 is definitely a total waste of money.
if based on your logic, we should install extra 2 reverse sensors on the rear bumper as well like most luxury car had. manatau u reverse that time tilting to the side and bam! u bang a car coz it dont have side sensor.
what about upgrading to bigger 2pots, 4 pots brake? maybe 1 day the car in front of u suddenly jam brake and u bang, then u wish u had a better, more powerful brake?
what about this what if that.................................. and the list never end and u end up installing everything because u were paranoid that one day u might need it? hmm.gif a food for thought.

but what u said is true, its their money, its their skill, its their judgement whether to install a front camera or not. maybe i can consider installing one in my old car laugh.gif
if the cost is good, i can recommend ya'll. biggrin.gif

Hi, how is the FC for 1.6HS now? from the calculation above, it is RM0.18/KM!!
*
never use RM/KM
use km/l instead. the figure will not be affected by the up and down of the fuel price.

18cents per km means 10.5km/l if based on RM1.9. i would say thats pretty neat considering my 1.8 only getting 10km/l at best
