My friend is getting a very high fuel consumption. 11.4l/100km 100% city.
So I just wonder would that make any difference as he haven't go for the 1st service yet.

Anyway, I'm driving a 1.6 n had been flooring it after my 15,000km service (now 23,+++).
My full tank is $78-80 average n able to clock min 420-450 with heavy jam every morning.
Trust me when I say heavy where I have to endure 1 to 1-1/2 hour traffic sometimes (normal day 30mins drive)

Your FC might improve a lil but after 5000 service.
How much does your ODO shows on a full tank?
I guess min 510km n above or else you can opt to reset your ECU.

Do you mind sharing what car you're driving previously?

Mine 1.6HS RM 80, 430km, 100%highway, odo still below 1000km.

ODO showing 555km but u can only clock less than 400km is a bit weird.

Cause different drivers do have different driving habit as you know.

Don't know if your right might be quite heavy sometimes?! 

Maybe your ecu still learning your driving habit.

Give it a few more round. Should be better.

Love the car from day 1. Current mileage 300km.

I went to Avantegarde to install rear light. Ah Bao said cannot be done as my car is 2013 spec. what ??????. He said the bulp is already there. but when i on the light, the middle rear light never came up. then i remember i read in ver 7 the difference between 2012 spec & 2013 spec. REAR FOG LIGHT!!!!!!!!!
this really irritates me because to on the light there is another switch.(its a fog light). to me its suppose to be rear light.fine. nevermind the extra switch for me to on it. but what makes me more frustrated the foglight is more bright then the rear light. can u imagine that?

so how to repair this?how to make one switch on all rear light AND most important that bulp need to change to the same bulp as other rear light.

do you know where i can do this? Ah Bao can't do it.

auto rain sensor not to its par. a few drops of rain still it can not detect. need to do it manually. so no auto for me.

at this moment my average fuel consumption was down from 12.8 l/km to 9.8 l/km this morning(after 300km run in)

oh I also bought the Potent Booster. still at normal and eco mode. after 1st service will go for race mode!

previous i own a honda civic 99 B18C enjin. the difference????

my friends compliment the car is spacious AND they love the sunroof. this 2 hard to get from old or new cars.

Dude, I'm interested in fixing 2 front cameras for the front side corners of the car to avoid hitting stuff while cornering (especially useful in *insert shopping mall here*). But won't it void the warranty of the car?

Last fill of petrol done at Shell. The car is smooth and can do decent accelerations.
This time my car at fuel red light drove for 590 kms.

Conditions: Mixed (highway / city)
eco mode on
speed 90 to 120
I am really happy with my Elantra 1.6 HS

correct , can be 400 too , depending on quality of camera and converter


warranty issue is very subjective


front and rear isn't the same

but if you think it is easy , we don't mind you DIY-ing

You drive with light foot on the accelerator pedal.

Make the eco green light glow when ever possible.

Reset the ??/ 100Km. Maintain that ??/100km as 6 to 7 or may be 7.5 will do. When reading showing 10+L/100km please reset the counter. Then the current reading will display after 500m drive. so the meter reading is refreshed.

If you are in traffic jam you need not accelerate heavily... do it smoothly according to the movement of vehicles. If you accelerate heavily and brake .... doing so will waste petrol.

No need to switch off Aircon.

Try to do full tank of when filling the petrol.

Still I am using the Shell engine oil recommended by Hyundai.

Weekly once please check the tyre pressure.

Use sports mode (manual) while you are over taking. This will avoid fuel wasting. (I am doing this). After overtaking come to Drive (auto).

Hill or slope region please use sports mode (Manual) because to maintain proper gear.
I follow this way to get better fuel efficiency. There are many seniors and genius over here... i dont know what they are going to comment on my post.

elantra car i can say is a big car. and the seats if adjust it high ur hair will hit the car roof. if set it low, then u can't see the front. if equip with camera it will be so convienient to the driver especially want to park at home near to the wall to make space at behind for instance..u can't always agak2 all the time.

then one day u hit the wall?wouldn't that be too late to install the camera???if in market have Infra red or night vision camera why not have it install...

2k or 4k or 5k rpm we can make the green eco light on. It depends how you accelerate. I have tried upto 4k with eco light on. FC depend upon the driving habits boss. What is your Mileage ???

About Shell Engine Oil!! Its not the inferior quality boss!! Shell is world class company. Hyundai, they are not supplying with unbranded oils say in label of their own car brand. eg. toyota genuine engine oil or XXX YYY brand car genuine oil. do you know what is the brand of the oil they use??? Hyundai they are clear about what they are using.
Have a friendly relationship with Hyundai SC guys and take your own, so called better oil boss!!!
If you really having problem in mileage, Please check with SC. They help you....if not they reset your ecu!!

Seriously shell petrol that bad on elantra 1.8?? My vios can do max 580km per full tank with daily travel from Selayang > LATAR > Guthrie > NKVE > Kota Kemuning.

Used with Petro Canada 10w30, Petro Canada MV ATF and Shell RON95.

What hyundai recommend is Shell oil or Quaker State engine oil (which is again from SHELL ONLY / QC is durable and performance ... think this is costly).... if you affordable you can go for it.... since you are using Hyundai recommended you wont loose your warranty. You have used Pennzoil is product from SHELL Only boss.

About 4k or 5k rev up: please increase your accelerator smoothly with the eco light on..... this will work..... i am doing it.

About the front camera: BOSS they are trying to push or sell or do marketing about their camera boss..... leave them.... if they tell something bad only people will buy their product (front camera)

You may have all A, B, C, D, EEEE, FFFF, Suv, MPV cars .... I have only Elantra and I love it....

2. Most of 1.8 users are using potent booster......u can try it

good for you bro, u don't need to waste money buying the camera....but some people have this idea that if u can control by agak2 its  but some people tend to misjudge on something so to minimise the damage they use camera...like people prefer auto tranny from manual tranny...its their choice.

why care makers don't install front camera is because they see it not as a major problem. they can install one anytime. like park assist. why do some cars have it?its convenient bro.. so do the front camera. but in my opinion with the camera u can avoid front hitting divider to minimum 0.

all this while ur gf park the car agak2...one day she misjudge, then she will come to u, i want the front camera? ......

so please don't question people how to drive...in this forum we support each other and encourage others that may have doubt on something....

try to make elantra a special car like no other...benefit to the owner and the comfort of passengers...we want to hear people say elantra is the best car....
