Greetings happy elantarians. My mom is planning to get the 1.8 version soon and we're quite happy with the car except for one thing. It doesn't come with auto-fold side mirrors! mad.gif

So here comes the question, does fixing the auto-fold mirror motors like the one here void the car's warranty? I'm sure this question has been asked many times but I still can't find the answer. I think many people in this thread must have gotten the auto-fold mirrors right? icon_question.gif

Really appreciate some feedback from you guys thumbup.gif

A lot of owners previously installed from Speedo during the first groupbuy.
Since it's all plug and play so it won't void the warranty.
Well unless the SC really wanna void your warranty then changing your rims also they say will void.  smile.gif

I'm one of the happy user. I won't say it's entirely plug and play as it involve taking apart the stock mirror and reusing part of the components. So your side mirror warranty is consider goner. but Speedo provide 1.5yr warranty for it.

Thanks guys thumbup.gif. That's a total relief rclxm9.gif So I should just go to Speedo and they would kaotim the installation for me? How much extra would they charge? And I suppose the RM850 they state in their webpage are the motors for BOTH the side mirrors right? sweat.gif Just wanna make sure, hehe nod.gif

Hello guys smile.gif I'm going to book a 1.8 elantra soon. But I'm super disappointed with the quality of the stock GPS and It's touch screen. It's slow to respond, has insensitive touch screen (like those first gen. touch screen handphone gotta tekan kaw-kaw vmad.gif ) and the screen quality not good.

I wanna ask all the sifus here what HU unit should I change to in order to get a good quality GPS + touch screen (like iPhone punya quality wan got? brows.gif ) and with a better display? icon_question.gif

Thanks for your help guys notworthy.gif

If you want the same OEM, they are more or less same, some offer more feature, like playing more file type etc. but the touch so far I've tested more or less the same. I believe no HU could offer such fluidic response and scroll like iOS devices. Those are capacitive touch technology with good hardware and software to back it.

Maybe you want to look at aftermarket double DIN HU. I've tested a few from Pioneer, not bad to my expectation. I'm still considering to get Pioneer 8XXX series or the US AppRadio. Cheers.

after market branded hu will solve ur problem

question will be other than GPS and how many inch , any other requirement?

like mirror link?

different brand got their own pro's and con's

like some support samsung, some suppot iphone

but the most important question will be what's your budget like biggrin.gif

Uhm, I see that all the double DIN HUs out there are rectangle shaped but the elantra's stock HU unit is shaped like a V with menu buttons beside the LED screen? blink.gif . So I don't think we can just plug-and-play those after market regular sized double DIN HU units right? icon_question.gif

plug and play can be done , just get the oem socket, nothing new in the market ,don't have to worry smile.gif
*
Uhm, I'm not sure if I'm getting you right. So lets say I want to fix a GPS/DVD/+bla bla system like this random one I just picked here, I need to find a hyundai elantra v-shaped 'oem socket' that doesn't have any physical buttons and just insert the above system into the place where the stock LCD screen was and kaotim sai? tongue.gif

you will need to get a custom casing when you change to a double DIN HU.
so no worries bro.  biggrin.gif

Thanks thumbup.gif I will try to use the stock hu first cause I see that it's not cheap to replace to a good one cry.gif

Heya guys, awhile back I asked whether fixing the auto food fold mirror would void the car's warranty and some of you guys said it won't. But my SA and a second hand car dealer I dealt with said it would void the car's warranty cause it would be 'touching' the car's wiring. Is this true? Or does our malaysian elantra come together with the wiring for the auto fold mirror and we just need to fix the motor?

Thanks once again smile.gif

let me put it this way... any after-market mods that are done outside any authorized SC is considered as voiding your car's warranty. smile.gif
*
Aiyo, so that means all the guys here who installed the auto fold mirror already void their car's warranty? cry.gif I don't know of any authorized SC who does this installation...are there any? icon_question.gif

Don't do it yet until confirm everything claimed from sc. This car can claim quite a few things.
*
Not really a long timer, just happened to see the 'famous' mistake somewhere brows.gif Uhm, what do u mean by 'this car can claim quite a few things'? Can elaborate more? hmm.gif

The leathers peeling off. But I heard the 2013 batch they giving different leather. So should be ok now
*
Wah, may I know which model the leather was peeling off from? 1.6 or the 1.8? ohmy.gif Now that you mentioned this, I muz quickly confirm with my SA that I'm getting 2013 model and not 2012 blink.gif

So if the leather seat peels off, this one can claim warranty right?

Don't worry can claim warranty. Very hassle free procedure. Bring to sc show them. They take photo.2-3 weeks later they ask u go exchange.

Note that mine is the first batch but don't have this issue. It's all about parking under jotssun and how u protect it. But again the new batches don't have this issue anymore.
*
Thanks thumbup.gif Just out of curiosity, that leather peeling off was nappa leather or not? hmm.gif And do you know of any authorized SC that can help fix the auto fold mirror without voiding the warranty? icon_question.gif

Dude, I'm interested in fixing 2 front cameras for the front side corners of the car to avoid hitting stuff while cornering (especially useful in *insert shopping mall here*) and also to drive past double parked cars. But won't it void the warranty of the car?
